1407 Accountability for 2023 and clearing 3000 bottle caps. The Jarvis Podcast
I started 2023 not refreshed and calm but pissed off and stupid company scamming me of my hard-earned money. But as one of my new year's resolutions is to process accountability more and deal with hard situations instead of running away it got me thinking. Much of which i rant about in today's episode.
It also gave me lots of ideas about my recycling business, how can i bring accountability into its marketing, to make a better and more valuable product. That will create a brand that could last the hard times to come

The Jarvis Podcast: If then planning dealing with worries
I'm going back to Japan today hopefully. But what if I can't get in?😭 What do I do?
These worries come up a lot in lift. And to deal with them I use "If then planning" . If there is a problem do X . It's simple and takes little time and saves you more if the problem comes up.
The Jarvis Podcast: Dealing with tenacity and pride.
Tenacity is the determination to achieve. But it can have some problems when pride get involved to achieve goals that are too large and when it is better to turn back and do something else.
Today I relate this topic to my hips in Hawaii
The Jarvis Podcast: Dealing with F#£! Ups
I arrived on big island today. But turns out I'm on the wrong side lol 😂🤣🤣😂
It's a F£#@ up yes, but I don't take such things as a blow but as an opportunity to see more. I think this mindset is key to achieving anything in life, being able to take a hit and move on is vital for success.

I have become a bit scared of flying due to a bad experience in Nepal. Turbulence scares me now and I had a little panic today when flying. But I need to do something about it.
That is to first know the trigger then use mind trip like priming to counteract this.
For me I'm doing this
If turbulence think about how good the

(127) Exploring Matsuyama、 Japan's oldest onsen and more. Jin JapanPodcast 2022/04/01
I was recently in Matsuyama city in Ehime prefecture and I had the time to visit the Dogon Onsen region. I did not go in, as I find going to Osens alone for supper awkward, but walking around the site was enough for me, and there is a lot more in the area than just Onsen. A must visit is the Izaniwa shrine 伊佐爾波神社(いさにわじんじゃ), that full of old-style Japanese math problems that would be a fun challenge for any math nut.

(124) Trash surveying on a Japanese Island home to the dragon king, yawata Oo Island 八幡浜大島
This week I was trash surveying in Ehime prefecture, the last stop on my survey was OO island in yYwata city. It's a remote island where only about 240 people live and most of them are the OAPs. I walked the island seeing its natural beauty and surveying trash. There was quite a bit so for me it was a worthwhile trip. I got some good drone flights in and chilled with the dragon king temple to my back for a good hour.

Yesterday I headed out from Oozue to fight the Sadamisaki peninsula on my bike. I tried to do the whole 40km course + dorn surveying beaches but was defaulted as surveying beaches takes time and means I have to go up and down more mountains.
But it was a good experience about how to do such an outing and the battle against pride.
But after deciding to head back, when I returned to Ozu, another Address member bought some rare local Alcohol and we chilled and drank the whole bottle. 大洲市は楽しみですね。

(119) Starting a Trash collection group and Upcycling goals JinJapan Podcast 20220316
Last month I started my own trash collection group inside my Address nomad community. We had a great start with are Hashtag activities, just picking up one piece of trash a day #今日の一ゴミ as even with Conor still around its not an excuse to not clean up the place we live in. We are also now planning an event. With the first one going to be in Syoudo Island 小豆島 next month
I also took part in a great trash collection group in Tokyo. Tokyo river friends is an international group that meets up every two weeks to clean up the rivers of Tokyo. For their events check out their meet.com page and also they have a very active Instagram. You will be surprised what they find
https://www.instagram.com/tokyoriverfriends/
In the second part of today's episode, I talk more about upcycling activities. Taking the collected trash and turning that into valuable items. One great company that's doing this is Bouy (ブイ) which creates very nice recycled trash washed up on beaches. You can even send your own collected trash to them and they will pay you per KG and it's more than the price of steel and scrap metal. So it's a great chance to make some money while making Japan beaches much cleaning
https://www.instagram.com/plas_tech/
But they're not just plastic trash, there is also a lot of Wood trash washed up on Japanese beaches. As Taifuu 台風 come and reck the Japanese coastline learning to lots of wash up natural trash. Lucky my company's boss's brother is now seeing this as a business change and started to great Japanese cultural drums from the washed-up drip wood. SHowing that this trash is not trash but a valuable resource

Last week I was in Shizuoka city and visited the Hiroshige 53 stops of the Toukaidou art museum静岡市広重東海道五十三次美術館.
It's a great museum for any Ukioe lovers with history, how it made and the full set of to Hiroshige hit collection the 53 stops of the Toukaidou 東海道五十三次,
The TOukaidou is the road from Edo (Current day Tokyo) to Kyoto, on way, there are 53 stops and Hiroshige depicted each one speciality. Starting a travelling boom in 18th century Japan (Edo period) along this road. This art collection was sold cheaply but that led to it being easily accessible and a hit, that pushed Hokusai (北斎) off the top spot. Yes, Hiroshige was the rival of the great Hokusai, but you have probably have not of him. So in today's podcast. i introduce Utagawa Hiroshige, his background, and why the
53 stops of the Toukaidou is such a great art piece, that it is one you need to defiantly check out. As the spots on the trip are real and some of the views are still there today !!!!

(108) 1000 step shrine Kunoutousyougu 久能山東照宮 JinJapan 2022/02/20
Kunoutousyougu 久能山東照宮 is a must-visit shrine in Shizuoka Japan. It's a Shrine on top of a hill overlooking the Shizuoka coastline, its 1000 steps to the top but worth the hike as the view is amazing.
This shrine is also super important in Japanese Hist108 1000 step shrine Kunoutousyougu 久能山東照宮ory as Tokugawa Ieyasu, the last of the 3 great heroes from the warring states period in the 16th century. But Ieyasu ends out as the final victor, unifying Japan and leading to 200 years of peace. For this, the Tousyougu 東照宮 Shrines were established on his death as he planned to become a god.
For more on that check out a part episode of JInjapa where I covered the connection to Nikkou Tosyougu 日光東照宮.
I visited Shizuoka and took a 15k cycle ride there on a tinny bike to make it more of a challenge and fun for me. After the 1000 steps, I was stopped dead by the amazing views at the top and the beauty of the shrine. The shrines are more of a work of art than a shrine, as it's covered in detailed carving and painting. You can look at it for hours.
A must-visit after the shrine, is the museum next to it, as is full of Tokugawa armour and sword. Not replacers but the real things he owned. And also an old-style Spanish clock that was gifted to Tokugawa by the Spanish in the 16th century.
I also created a Tour video of the shire, check it out on YOutube to see the great views the shrines have to offer

JinJapan 107 Castles of Japan: Syuri castle 首里城 Naha city Okinawa. 20220220
The kingdom of Ryuukyuu 琉球王国 lasted from the 14th century to the late 18th century in current day Okinawa prefecture. This kingdom's symbol was a big red castle in Naha city. That castle is Syuri castle. I visited this castle while I was in Okinawa at the beginning of February and was blown away by the difference between Japanese castles and their history. As you may know in 2019 is sadly burnt down but its reconstruction efforts are a great sight and a great chance to learn more about Okinawan culture.

アマビエ Amabie is the Japanese Fairy of plague warning and prevention. Its comes from Kumamoto 熊本 in Kyuusyuu 九州, in the Edo period 江戸時代 (1603 ~1867 ). The story goes that the people found an Amabie in a lake and it gave a warning of a coming plague and had to draw Amabie to prevent it. This has been used by the Japanese government as a way of Covid awareness. Drawing and illustrations of Amabi become super popular and now its all over Japan.
If you seen Amabie before let me know where or if you have a drawing share it in the comments below

JinJapan New years trip to Ise Jingu (伊勢神宮) Ise (伊勢) located in Mie prefecture Japan, is the heart of Japanese Shinto religion, as its home to the most important god, Ameterasu 天照大神「アマテラスオオミカミ」, the sun god in Japanese Shinto. Ameterasu is enshrined in Ise Jingu Naigu (伊勢神宮内宮) and over the news years, is one of the most visited shrines in Japan. If I was to learn Japanese again, here is where I would start.
Stage 1 (start)
Month 1, What is Japan and what you like about it?
Research, Find your areas of Interest, learn basics, make time to learn
Recommendation
Tea-KIM Free http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/
Month 2 to 3. Listening to a lot 6 hours min per day, getting use to using flashcards to learn words. Start learning Japanese from Japanese media. Then its Decision time. Do you advance or be happy with 3 month as move one with your life.
Who are the Ainu? JJJapan Podcast 49
The Ainu are the indigenous people of Hokkaido.
Did you know about them?
If not that ok, for in today's episode it's all about Ainu History, culture, music, gods? and more

JJJapan 26 Costa VS Japan
#Costa #Japan #Costa
Costa Coffee, a famous UK Coffee brand, has come to Japan.
Will it succeed in Japan or be a quick fad?
It got some tough competition, like Coffee Boss and at the moment not great ADs.
But there is hope, if they get their marketing right

Today I will talk about Tokyo Revengers. Enjoy!
It is a pretty cool time travel anime, like Erased but with more punches to the face.
The main protagonist Takemichi is out to save his old girlfriend from getting tangled up with the Tokyo Manji kai
so she does not die
The Tokyo Manji kai is a biker group based of the informs Balck Emperor biker gang that operated from the 1970s to 1990s.
And with the Manji kai leader based on the Emperor's legendary leader Ugashi Takashi, it's going to get messy.
Let's hope Takemichi's face comes out ok by the end of it all.

JJJapan #14 abolish the Kanji?
Should kanji be abolished?
This question has come up through Japanese recent history and today in the JJJapan podcast its Japanese history of kanji abolition attempts.
1st off GHQ attempt to make Japansesas all romaji
2nd Shiga Naoya 志賀 直哉(しが なおや) the argument to make Japanese more french
3rd Kanaji reforms, how the kanji we use today came about.
Japanese has 3 forms of writing: kanji , hiragana and katakana.
Kanji comes from China but hiragana and katakana are uniquely Japanese.
How did they come about? Who first used them?
Time for a Japanese history lesson of the origins of hiragana and katakana
