Just because you have a need, doesn't open the door for anyone to know why: I was gently reminded today that we don't have to justify or explain ourselves to people, we have a right to our privacy & the intimate details of our lives.
I've had a lot of conversations recently about trust, the stories we make up in our minds & feeling the need to explain yourself & justify who you are to others. So this episode is a bit of jumbled thoughts :)

“I have spent the last 6 years of my life competing on the Freeride World Tour earning 19 medals for the USA and being one of the longest consecutively re-qualifed North American snowboarders the tour has ever had. Only to feel less than. Less than valued, less than appreciated, less than respected, less than heard, less than seen, less than my male counterparts whom I shouldn’t be compared to or competing against. I am constantly reminded that I am a female, a snowboarder, and a North American, which at one point in my life, I viewed as assets instead of faults. To be constantly reminded from a patriarchal system that you are not worthy really wears down the soul and I’ve finally reached my breaking point.” - Erika

This is a reminder that we must put our FAITH before FEAR. We cannot rush and force things to happen; we must trust that things will work out. This week, ask your friends about something they want or hope for and see if you can help them know the solution or at least be a comfort for them in the process.

Is there anything you're deeply curious about or inspired by?
This question was one of the main reasons I found running. I have always been so curious and inspired by runners and I wanted to find out if I could be a runner too. This week I am chatting about running my first marathon. This is a goal I have had for a really long time and it's WILD that I have now accomplished it.
The main things I learned were:

I have been stressing myself silly these days — to the point that it’s terrible for my health. I have had decision fatigue. I have been overanalyzing every little thing. I have been making myself absolutely MAD!
We’ve all been there, and the other day, I was reminded that this is MY story, and I get to PLAY with the narrative. These choices we must make every day can be and should be fun. Options should excite us, not paralyze us. But I have been searching for signs or anything to make me believe that I was making the right choice, but sometimes there is no right choice. There is just trying repeatedly; sometimes we get it wrong and have to change direction. But guess what? We have the power to change our minds and change our situation as many times as we want. WE ARE NOT STUCK. So why not make things more playful and treat life like a game?

This week’s conversation was inspired by a conversation I overheard in a coffee shop. It made me think about the questions we ask each other. So these are just two fun questions to get someone thinking about what they're passionate about & what makes them feel good. So next time you have a coffee with someone, I encourage you to ask:
These may seem simple, but sometimes, we stop moving towards the things we love without even realizing it.

"We are always falling in love or quarrelling, looking for jobs or fearing to lose them, getting ill and recovering, following public affairs. If we let ourselves, we shall always be waiting for some distraction or other to end before we can really get down to our work. The only people who achieve much are those who want knowledge so badly that they seek it while the conditions are still unfavourable. Favourable conditions never come." - C.S Lewis
This week's episode is just a chat about the idea of distractions and how we can discern what it is we really need to be doing.

"One of the first things I say in my welcome speech is I didn't feel like I fit in with women. I wanted to create an environment where you all feel like you fit in here. We want everyone who walks up to our camps to learn mountain biking to feel like I belong here. These are my people. And we set that tone right from the beginning by welcoming everybody with a welcome speech that says that. We want you to feel safe here. We want you to feel safe."
So excited for this week's episode with Lindsey Richter, founder of Ladies AllRide Mountain Bike Skills. She is also the Author of Mountain Biking Adventures with Izzy: ETIQUETTE IS A BIG WORD!
In this episode, we discuss facing your fears, finding your people, and having FUN! I am so inspired by Lindsey's impact on women worldwide, and I hope you are encouraged to face your fears with this episode.

sleepless nights
teary eyes
heavy movements
a gentle ache

nowhere I want to go
nothing I want to do
no place I need to be

frozen in place
with lots of lessons
& so many moments of reflection
The last time I recorded a solo episode was two weeks ago. Life took me some turns, and I am reflecting. This episode is an update on what has been going on & a reminder that things are not always as they seem. It is also a reminder to move towards the people who make you love yourself & not to let go of relationships that light you up inside. Heal Ourselves & Heal the World ✿
☯︎︎Yin Herbal Blend - Calm Energy
☯︎︎Yang Herbal Blend - Active Energy
Heather is a nutritionist, adventurer, co-founder, and creative director of Yin Yang Healing Tea. Her love for health naturally blossomed due to her experiences with psychedelics, healers, and quantum health when she lived in Hawaii. She recognized that we are made up of everything that is nature, and tea is made up of nature. So she found a way to make the experience of tea a connection with Earth in an ancient way.
"The earth is calling us back to itself saying, hey, I want a relationship with you, and I want you to become conscious, and I want you to be like the best, truest version of yourself that you possibly can be. And Yin-Yang Healing Tea was created to help heal the world of mental and physical illness. And like the purpose and intention was to tune into our own divinity and healing power through ancient healing methods."
I experienced an intimacy with nature in Hawaii that I never had before. So many people there are trying to heal and bring us back to ourselves. With this episode, I hope you can gain insight into how we can slowly start to reintegrate with nature.

In this episode, I reflect on some conversations I have had with friends lately that have made me think about not only my relationship with myself but others. I spent a long time trying to get people please, and in the process of trying to get out of that, I became so hyper-independent
that it has been affecting some of the relationships in my life and also keeping me from furthering others. While learning to be independent is one of the best things people can do, I also know that there is value in human connection. I am working to find a space where the two can coexist.
Lately, I have been a bad friend and haven't been able to commit to many things out of a scarcity mindset. But as one of my best friends always reminds me, we don't have to do everything independently, and there is a big space for people who love us to fill.

Panchos blanket is a handmade and artisanal garments brand practicing ethical fashion, feeding the hungry, clothing the poor & KEEPING OTHERS WARM.
I chatted with co-owner Jonathan. Jonathan grew up in Tlaxcala, Mexico as a missionary kid from the US. When he turned 18 he left Mexico to join the United States Marine Corps. After his time in the Marine Corps he moved to Kansas City.
His family opened a community kitchen in response to COVID-19 which turned into a nonprofit that feeds and clothes underprivileged communities from around the state of Tlaxcala (www.feedafamily.info). A large portion of the proceeds from Panchos Blanket goes to Feed A Family so every purchase directly impacts the community. Jonathan and his brother Joseph started designing artisanal products made on foot pedal looms that are over a century old and have been passed down through generations. They believe in keeping the old methods alive and treasuring them for the richness of the process and beauty of their work.with local artisans.
"Keeping others warm is our great privilege and pleasure. For this reason We search for every creative way to give to communities that are in need through the generosity of our customers. One thing is guaranteed: Every purchase will contribute to making the world a better place. We donate a great portion of our profits to feeding and providing healthcare to the poor as well as dressing those in need to impoverished communities in Mexico."
"When they started working on this new project the name in their mind was "Ponchos and Blankets". They decided to fuse the two words together into a concept; Pancho's Blanket. A poncho is a blanket with a hole in the center, making it a wearable garment. It's a very typical Mexican attire and Pancho is a common nickname as well. The name Pancho's Blanket made sense because Pancho and Poncho sounds the same but are two different things, and a blanket is an ambiguous term that is essentially a thing you cover yourself with to keep you warm, which is our mission: keeping others warm."

Expectations are something I am still trying to understand and trying to discern when to have them and when to not. Often times we perceive situations different than others and expectations usually lead to disappointment. "Self-acceptance is hard for many of us. There is a voice inside that is constantly judging, first ourselves and then others. That voice enjoys the indulgence of an endless negative critique. Because we have learned to believe negativity is more realistic, it appears more real than any positive voice. Once we begin to replace negative thinking with positive thinking, it becomes utterly clear that, far from being realistic, negative thinking is absolutely disenabling. When we are positive we not only accept and affirm ourselves, we are able to affirm and accept others."
"Self-love is the foundation of our loving practice. Without it our other efforts to love fail. Giving ourselves love we provide our inner being with the opportunity to have the unconditional love we may have always longed to receive from someone else. Whenever we interact with others, the love we give and receive is always necessarily conditional. Although it is not impossible, it is very difficult and rare for us to be able to extend unconditional love to others, largely because we cannot exercise control over the behavior of someone else and we cannot predict or utterly control our responses to their actions. We can, however, exercise control over our own actions. We can give ourselves the unconditional love that is the grounding for sustained acceptance and affirmation. When we give this precious gift to ourselves, we are able to reach out to others from a place of fulfillment and not from a place of lack."

"The things that we want to change and do have control over, all it takes is a decision. We must make our minds up and get all parts of ourselves on board. I am so blessed to have my good friend Gill on the podcast this week. Gill is a co-founder of @sconesonthecone and is getting ready to hike the PCT. She is so full of love & light, and in this episode, we chat about passion and just taking the step to do new things.

In this episode, we discuss our twenties and how it is just a period of growth and trying new things. I chat with Sarah, a writer, artist, and my favorite local barista. She is working to impact people's lives wherever she can.
Let's chat balance. I am not the best at this by any means, but I have learned a lot of little tricks over the years that have helped me create a better balance in my life.
This is a subject I talked about a while ago, but like many things, it's a continuous learning process. So in honor of Eating Disorder Awareness week last week, I wanted to talk about some of the things I have struggled with & some things that changed my life and mindset regarding food. This is a topic I could talk about for hours, and everyone has their own way of doing things, so as with everything, take it with a grain of salt :)
there were ups & downs in the creative process this week, so this episode is a little chat/ update on giving yourself grace and learning to adapt and stay consistent when things don't work out as you expected!
How do you prioritize your options, make realistic goals and make intentional choices that align with your values and interests? On this week's episode I talk about the overwhelm of creative and career options that I have been feeling and how I am working to navigate those challenges by staying curious, open-minded and prioritizing my own well being.
Have you ever completely zoned out while someone was talking & have no idea what they said? I know I have:) On this week's podcast, we are talking about the top 5 things that helped me become a better communicator.
First podcast episode of 2023! This episode is a little reflection & update on what’s going on in my life. I chatted about some things I took away from 2022, and some I am focussing on moving forward. Trying to focus on taking the next best step every day.

This week my good friend Mack returns for a long chat about what we have been learning in our 20s!
Life has been a bit chaotic lately, so this episode is about categorizing the things that are important to you, letting go of the things that aren't, and having something to focus on when life feels chaotic, along with some things I am learning!
How many activities are you prepared for with the items in your car? Do you check the weather? What advice do you have for getting into new activities? In this week's episode of the Becca Blue Rose podcast, Allie and I chat on the top of a mountain, and Allie shows us her competitive side :)
This weeks episode is a short & sweet reminder to slow down, ask yourself what you need and listen to you body!
My mom tends to ask me what I want for dinner before breakfast, and I never know what to say… does anyone else have this problem? On this week’s episode of the podcast, I chat about how to tell if something is outside your comfort zone in a good way or if it is just uncomfortable and, you know, you don’t want to do it.
Well, I finally made it back to the states after 13 months. wondering if it was all a dream? feels wild. So this week's podcast episode is all about coming home after being gone for so long, readjusting, how I am feeling and what I am up to.
In this week’s Becca Blue Rose Podcast episode, I chat about learning to speak the things that are on your mind. Sometimes we get stuck having conversations and going through events in our heads, and we never actually vocalize them. Learning to say the things on my mind, no matter how small, has helped me to be more present and helped me connect better with the people around me.
In this week's Becca blue rose podcast episode, I chat about how well we know people. I also talk about the importance of enjoying things while they last! I sometimes think it's easy to forget that people live whole lives outside of us, and there is no way to know what is happening in their lives all the time. It's also easy to forget to enjoy moments while in them.
Kenize finally came to visit me! We have been talking about taking a trip together for so long and we finally made it happen. In this week's episode Kenzie and I chat about loose plans and then I chat about the opportunity to be a role model for someone:)
Sitting still has never been something I have been good at, and in the calmness of these mountains, I found that often I was half engaging in a lot of things in my life. In this week's Becca Blue Rose podcast episodes, I chat about being present and fully engaging in what you are doing, whether that be cooking, exercise, podcasts, conversations, or more.
I took two weeks off from recording & making podcasts not because I wanted to but because I didn't feel like I had much to say. I have been focussing on being present in this environment and enjoying the conversations and the time I am spending with some beautiful people. In this week's episode of the Becca blue rose podcast, I talk about the idea of happiness vs. contentment along with dreams and how I have realized that I am living out a lot of the dreams that I once had, so it would be a shame if I didn't live fully within these moments.
Change is what creates hope & momentum & opportunity & excitement. Embracing change is the essence of living life. Embracing the sun rising & the tides shifting & the people coming & the people going. Change is how we know the world is not on pause. In this week's episode of the podcast, I am chilling by a waterfall, chatting about doing things solo, letting go of people's expectations of you & embracing change.

Who wore the yellow Patagonia fleece better? Do mosquitos have a purpose? Should pico talk like David Attenborough on our next podcast?
In this week's episode of hike chats, I am in the mountains with pico eating burritos while getting eaten by mosquitos & talking about balancing goals & how to enjoy the process!

In this week's episode, I talk about eats! I have recently had a lot of visitors and have been eating out more than I am used to. I have also been sick and haven't been able to be as active as I would have liked. With this, I have realized how far I have come surrounding some of the issues I have faced with food. So in this episode, I touch on the difficulties I have had with food and some tips I have to strike a balance when traveling and having many people visiting. Enjoy:)

Lately, I have been thinking about friendships. As I get older, I understand that not all the friends we make are supposed to be in our lives forever. It is ok and natural to have people coming and going in and out of our lives. It is also ok to realize which relationships serve us and which don't. In this week's episode, I chat about the different types of friends & how watching Madagascar made me think of manifesting!
If there is one thing Spain has taught us, it is the importance of self-care! On this week's episode of Hey, it's Becs, I chat with my friend Mack about self-care. In this episode, we talk about what self-care means to us, what our perfect days look like, whether or not you should email someone on the weekend & favorite quality about yourself. Of course, self-care is not limited to Sundays. It just happened to be the day we could do it.

& this past week, i have felt very flat. not unhappy, but also not happy. i haven’t had many words to say or many things to write & creatively, it’s been… well, flat. i mentioned this to a friend & he reminded me that the “nothingness,” if you will, is also something to create about. so came the inspiration for this podcast. it’s an update on how i am feelin & suggestion to ask your friends how they are really doing & how I am trying to balance the flat parts of life with the highs & the lows
Let's chat, but mountain addition! In this new series called Hike Chats, I will be talking with my friends or strangers I meet while in the mountains. These talks are fun & casual and resemble a lot of the conversations I like to have while hiking. In this week's episode, I am talking with one of my best friends, Pico. Pico is from Argentina and is one of my first friends here in Madrid. We will be talking about what CTC is, how to date yourself and not lose your individuality, and we will see if Becca can tell the time in Spanish!
