We will be reading through the Bible together. We will get a clear understanding of the scriptures, and we will learn how to apply the scriptures in our daily lives.
In this episode we read and talked about the procedures God gave for the Day of Atonement. This was one of the most important days of the whole year because the atonement made on this day would cover any sins they had committed over the past year. This Chapter is pointing to Jesus who would one day come and wash away all our sins. Jesus is not only our High Priest, but it was also His blood that was shed which washed away our sins. #4you #moses #biblestudy #israel #sinaí #sinoffering #burntoffering #aaron #atonement #sacrifice #scapegoat #animals #holyplace ##priest #fasting #tabernacle #christian @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
We learned in this episode that the people’s impurity could defile the tabernacle. We also read about how God warned Aaron on how to approach Him so that Aaron would not die. Our take away from this episode is our gratitude for all that Jesus has done for us. It is because of the blood of Jesus that we have direct access to God and we can come boldly before the throne of grace. #4you #moses #biblestudy #israel #sinaí #discharges #christian ##dayofatonement #aaron #yomkippur @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we read about the procedures for a leper to receive his/her healing as well as how a contaminated house can be made clean. Our take away from this lesson is that leprosy can be compared to sin and Jesus is our healer. He died on the cross to take away our sin (leprosy). Remember leprosy separated the person from the camp just as our sins separated us from God. But the blood of Jesus has declared us clean and we are no longer separated from God. God sees us now through Christ's righteousness! Thinking on the contaminated houses we are reminded that we are the temple of the Lord. Therefore we must keep our houses/temple clean by watching what we are listening to, what we are doing, and how we are living. #4you #biblestudy #israel #sinaí #foryourpage #leviticus #priest #moses #holiness #leprosy #hyssop #purification #cleansing #offerings @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this lesson we read about the procedures for becoming clean if you had a skin disease. We also read about how those who were found to have leprosy were put outside the camp to live in isolation so that they would not contaminate others. We also learned that contaminated clothing had to be burned if they were not redeemable. The application we take from this lesson is that sin is like leprosy. We were all contaminated by the disease of sin. We were outcast and separated from God. Oh but Jesus, our High Priest came and examined us, touched us, and healed us of all our diseases! It is because of Him that we can go boldly before the throne of grace. This same Jesus will come back for us and change us into His image! And we shall forever be with the Lord. In this episode we gave an overall view of Chapters 11-15 which was God instructing them on how to live holy. As we discussed Chapter 12, we learned that a woman was considered unclean and could not enter the tabernacle while on her monthly period or after giving birth. It is during these times that a woman’s body is purging and cleansing it self - her monthly period is a result of no pregnancy therefore the extra build up of her uterus (that was preparing for a possible baby) will now be purged from her body in the form of blood. Also after a woman gives birth, the body rids itself of the extra blood and tissue from the uterus. God is Holy and He still expects us to be holy. Thank God that Jesus took care of that for us. We are clothed in His righteousness and made clean by His blood. The scripture also tells us we are washed (made clean) by the water of the word. #4you #biblestudy #israel #sinaí #foryourpage #leviticus #moses #priest #holiness #purification #circumcision @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we talked about the food the children of Israel could or could not eat. Knowing our biblical history helps us appreciate the freedom we have now. Romans 14 tells us we are free to eat what we want. Christ has set us free from the bondage of the law. Remember the law was just to show us how much we needed Jesus. God knew we couldn’t keep all those laws so He sent His only son to come and take on our penalty. We are set free and now move in His grace. #4you #biblestudy #israel #sinaí #foryourpage #moses #leviticus #offerings #priest #food #clean #unclean #animals @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we talked about the Priest first day of working in the tabernacle in Chapter 9. One thing that stands out in Chapter 9 was that God validated the work of the Priest and the tabernacle procedures by sending a fire and burning all the sacrifices. God validates us when we feel His presence. God also validates us when He anoints us and move thru us with miracles, signs, and wonders…it validates us. In Chapter 10 we talked about how God judged Nadab and Abihu because they did not follow the tabernacle procedures. Our take away from this tragedy is that we must always obey God and do things the way he tells us to do them. #4you #biblestudy #israel #sinaí #offerings #blessings #sacrifice #nadab #abihu #aaron #christian @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we talked about the ordination of the Priest. The Priest had to be washed, clothed, and anointed to do the work of the Lord. He has made us Priests as well and before we can be used to help God’s people, we must be washed by the water of God’s word. We should be reading and studying our Bible. They had to be dressed, we also must be clothed in His righteousness (our righteousness is as filthy rags-it has to be Jesus' righteousness). They had to be anointed to do God’s work- we too must be anointed, filled with His Holy Spirit. He is our enablement. That same spirit that raised Christ from the dead is living in us. We have dynamite power inside us that can get us out of any grave or dry dead place we find ourselves in. The priests ordination lasted 7 days and included a lot of sacrifices. We must allow God to do a complete work in us that will prepare us to do the work of the Lord no matter how long it takes or what we have to sacrifice. #4you #biblestudy #foryourpage #israel #leviticus #priest #ordination #sacrifices #aaron #atonement #bless ed #anointing #holiness #highpriest #sins #sinaí #tabernacle @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we read about the Guilt (also called trespass) Offering. The children of Israel were to offer up this sacrifice if they broke any tabernacle rules, if they broke any of the over 600 laws God gave them, and if they cheated, extorted or lied, etc. To be forgiven of their sins, they had to offer a ram, make restitution and also pay a 20% fine to the person they had wronged. Also in this episode we gave a final recap of what each of the 5 sacrifices represents to us. (Sin offering, guilt offering, burnt offering, grain offering, and the peace offering). We learned that Jesus fulfilled all those sacrifices. His death meant we no longer need to offer up animal sacrifices to cover our sins temporarily. Jesus by His one sacrifice when He died on the cross paid our penalty for sin forever! He does not have to come here again to die if we sin again. We only need to repent and ask Him to forgive us if we should fall or sin. Thank God for Jesus! Our sins have been forgiven past, present and future sins because he died for us! #4you #biblestudy #foryourpage #israel #moses #leviticus #sinaí #sacrifice #priest #blood #holiness #trespass #sins #worship #christian @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we talked about the sin offering. As we read about the process they went through in the old testament just to have their sins covered, we should rejoice that we no longer have to go through that process because Jesus, our savior, died for our sins. His shed blood not only covers our sins, but He erased our sins. His one perfect sacrifice covers our sins from our past, our present, and any future sins we might have. Thank God for Jesus, He is our perfect sin offering! #4you #biblestudy #foryourpage #israel #moses #sinaí #covenant #offerings #sins #atonement #animals #priest #poor #leviticus #flour #christian @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we talked about the grain offering and the fellowship offering. The grain offering was used when you wanted to give thanks for the harvest and all God had done for you. This offering also represents Christ who was broken like bread for us. The fellowship offering was also used when one wanted to give thanks to God because of His goodness, to thank him after completing a vow, to celebrate just because he is God, and also used for public occasions. The fellowship offering was also called the peace offering…Jesus is the prince of peace. Our salvation experience brought us peace. #4you #biblestudy #israel #moses #sinaí #foryourpage #covenant #tencommandments #grain #peace #fellowship #leviticus #priest #pentateuch #offerings #unleavenedbread #thankful #blood #peace. @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we did an introduction to Leviticus and read and talked about the burnt offering which was one of five offerings the children of Israel offered. This offering atoned (covered) for their sins and represented total surrender. The entire animal was burned, no meat left for eating. What does this sacrifice mean to us? Jesus was our burnt offering and our high Priest. He willingly offered himself and died for our sins. Jesus is also our High Priest who went to heaven to represent us to His Father declaring us not guilty. Heb. 9:24, 10:11-14. This burnt offering also speaks to us that we are to be living sacrifices (Rom 12:1). We are to give our all to Jesus. #4you #biblestudy #israel #moses #sinaí #foryourpage #tabernacles #covenant #pentateuch #leviticus #holy #sacrifice #surrender #offerings #atonement #christ #highpriest #sins @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we talked about how they made the Priests garments, Moses’ final inspection, the tabernacle is set up, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. One thing that should stand out to us is how Moses carried out God’s instructions in every detail. God wants us to always be obedient to what He tells us to do even if we don’t understand why. #4you #biblestudy #israel #moses #foryourpage #sinaí #tabernacles #priest #glory @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode the children of Israel were obedient and built the tabernacle and all the 6 pieces of furniture. In this episode we recapped what the furniture in the tabernacle means to us: Brazen Altar-where the animals were sacrificed represents The sacrifice Christ made for us when he died on the cross to take away our sins. It also represents us when we accept Christ into our hearts and present our bodies as a living sacrifice.Brazen Laver-is where the Priest had to wash their hands and feet before they could sacrifice the animals and before they could enter the tabernacle. This represents the washing of the word. The word of God cleanses us. We said yes to Jesus and now He’s cleansing us making us like Him.Table of Shewbread-this is where they put 12 loaves of bread every week. Jesus is the word and the bread of life. We must read the word (the Bible) regularly. The lamp stand-represents that Jesus is the light of the world. He has also called us to be the light.Altar of Incense-the incense was to always be burning and represents prayer, Jesus is always praying for us; the Holy Spirit prays for us when we don’t know what to pray; we, the saints, are told to pray without ceasing. The Ark of the Covenant-This represents the presence of God. It also reminds us thru the 3 items that will be placed in the box (the Ten Commandments, manna, and Aaron’s budding rod): we are in covenant with God (Ten Commandments), God will provide for us (manna), and God choose us to represent Him (Aaron’s rod). #4you #biblestudy #israel #moses #foryourpage #sinaí #tabernacles #tencommandments #covenant #offerings #lampstand #incense @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we see the people giving willingly the materials to build the tabernacle. God loves a cheerful giver! We also learn that God had gifted men to do the work of building the tabernacle. We are reminded that any talent or gift we have came from God and should be used for His kingdom. Don’t put your gift on the shelf, let God use you to build His House, the body of Christ, the Church. #4you #biblestudy #israel #moses #foryourpage #sinaí #tabernacles #tencommandments ##bezalel @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this Episode we saw the heart of Moses who interceded for the children of Israel. We also saw the mercy and grace of God as He gave the children of Israel another chance after they sinned by making a golden calf. This should remind us of how blessed we are that God sent Jesus to take away our sins and redeem us from the curse and penalty of sin. #4you #biblestudy #israel #moses #foryourpage #sinaí #covenant #tencommandments #aaron #mercy #grace #secondchances #goldencalf @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we read about the golden calf Aaron made for the people which was a violation of the 2nd commandment ‘thou shall not make any graven image’.What can we learn from this? 1. The people became impatient and decided to bring God down to their level…we have to be careful not to make God ok with our sin or lifestyle. Yes God says come as you are, but once we come to Him, we must allow Him to change us to His image not change Him to our image. 2. As a leader we cannot give in to peer pressure…Aaron caved in. We must be faithful to make a stand for Jesus…we will be held accountable. 3. Moses showed the true heart of a leader…although the people faced some consequences, Moses was still ready to give his life for the people. 4 Finally we see that God is Holy and if we repent of our sin, God could change His mind about our fate. #4you #biblestudy #israel #moses #foryourpage #tabernacles #sinaí #covenant #tencommandments #aaron #goldencalf #intercession #sins #penalty @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we talked about the last two pieces of furniture, the altar of incense and the brazen Lavar (or wash basin). We also read about how the tabernacle would be maintained with 1/2 shekel from each male 20 years and up. God gave Moses very specific instructions on how to make the anointing oil and the incense. The altar of incense represents prayers from the saints, prayers from Jesus, and the prayers the Holy Spirit prays for us when we do not know what to pray. The wash basin reminds us that we need to be washed by the water of the word. We must continue to allow the Holy Spirit to cleanse us and remove everything that is not like Him. #4you #biblestudy #israel #moses #foryourpage #tabernacles #sinaí #tencommandments #covenant #anointingoil #insence #gifts #skills #instructions @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we read about Moses’ instructions from God on how he was to dedicate the Priest. He was to use a bull and two rams. The sacrifice of the bull was a type of us when we first confess our sins and accept what Christ did on the cross for us. The sacrifice of the first ram as a burnt offering would be a type of us totally surrendering our selves to God. The slaughter of the 2nd ram would represent our peace and acceptance and fellowship with God. #moses #4you #biblestudy #israel #tabernacles #sinaí #aaron #dedication #priest #sacrifice #ordination #offerings #exodus @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we talked about the garments the priest were instructed to wear. We were reminded that there are hidden truths and mysteries found when we learn the details about the High Priest's garments. We also read scriptures about Jesus being our High Priest (Hebrews 2:16-17 and Hebrews 9:11-12). We also read scriptures where he called us kings and priests (1 Peter 2:4-5 and 1 Peter 2:9-10). Just as Aaron represented the people to God and represented God to the people, so also did Christ represent us to God and God to us. We are also required, as Gods priests, to represent God/Jesus to the world. Jesus said when you seen me you’ve seen the Father (John 14:9). Can people see Christ in us? When they look at us can they see some characteristics of Christ? As priests of God, that should be our goal…to reflect Christ! #4you #biblestudy #foryourpage #israel #moses #priest #highpriest #sinaí #tabernacles #tent @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we talked about the detailed instructions God gave Moses for building the tabernacle, the brazen altar or also called the altar of burnt offerings, instructions for the courtyard, and the need for pure olive oil to keep the lamp burning always. We talked about the fact that God has hidden messages for us in the tabernacle…there are many mysterious in the study of the tabernacle that we are to search out and ponder on. One of the mysteries I shared was how the tabernacle represents God’s universal Church (represented by the thousands of saints all over the world.) There are five bars that supported the walls of the tabernacle. I see these bars as the gifts Christ gave to the Church in Ephesians 4:11-16…Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, pastors, and teachers. Those that are called to move in those ministry gifts are supposed to use their gifts to grow up Gods people until we all reach perfection. In other words, those gifts will be needed until Jesus comes back and we get our glorified bodies. Another truth we can see is the fact that there is only one entrance to the tabernacle. This is a type of the fact that there is only one way to God and that is thru Jesus Christ. We must come in at the door. #4you #biblestudy #foryourpage #israel #moses #tabernacles #jesuschrist #brazenaltar #burntoffering #outercourt #holyplace #mostholyplace @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we talked about the four coverings on the tabernacle (fine linen which represents righteousness; goat’s hair which speaks of our redemption; ram’s skins dyed red which represents the blood of Jesus; and badger skin or some aquatic animal which represents protection. We also talked about the building of the tabernacle. We are reminded that in the tabernacle we can see many messages God is sending us. One of those messages was His plan for our salvation. That Christ would come one day and take our place on the cross. He would one day be our substitute and take our place on the cross. #4you #biblestudy #foryourpage #israel #moses #covenant #sinaí #tencommandments #tabernacles @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we read the instructions for building three pieces of furniture in the Tabernacle: the Ark of the Covenant, the table of showbread, and the lamp stand. In this episode we gave an overview of the tabernacle showing some pictures of what the tabernacle will look like when completed. We talked about there being 6 pieces of furniture in the tabernacle. In short we said 1. the brazen altar is a type of us laying down our old life of sin in exchange for His new life. 2. The brazen laver is a type of us being wash in the blood and by the water of the word. 3. The table of shewbread is a type of us receiving our daily bread. That bread from heaven that once we eat we will never hunger again- John 6:35. 4. The golden candle stick reminds us that we must always let our light shine. 5. The alar of Incense reminds us that we need a prayer life. 6. In this episode we summed up the instructions God gave Moses from Chapters 20-23. Moses wrote it all down and called it the Book of the Covenant. We talked about the covenant meal they had on Mt Sinai. We mentioned the covenant meal we still observe after a wedding where the bride and groom have made a covenant with each other. We call it the reception…but it is in fact a covenant meal. Jesus shared a covenant meal with His disciples just before he died with the wine representing His blood that was shed for us, and the bread representing His body broken for us. We will have another covenant meal in Rev. 19:7-9 at the marriage supper of the lamb. #4you #biblestudy #foryourpage #israel #moses #sinaí #covenant #tencommandments #feasts #aaron @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we read more instructions from God telling His people how they should conduct themselves as His Holy nation. We also learned about the three feast God instituted for His people to have yearly (Feasts of Unleavened bread, Feast of Pentecost, and the Feast of Tabernacles). The journey of the children of Israel is a type of our journey to our promised land (New Jerusalem - Revelation 21). In verse 29, God said He would give the children of Israel the victory little by little. We also gain our victory little by little. God does not show us all the things He needs to change in us all at once. He deals with our flaws little by little, situation by situation. If a situation arises and we find ourselves getting jealous because of that person…God allowed that to happen so that He could deal with that jealousy. Or if something happens and we find ourselves dealing with unforgiveness…God allowed that situation to happen to deal with our unforgiveness. The same goes with any faults we find rising in us. Our part is to recognize the fault, don’t run from the situation but to allow God to cleanse us and remove that thing…whatever it may be. What we must remember is that the law was just to keep them in check until Jesus Christ would come into the world to truly save us from our sins. The law was pointing to Christ who would come and put His laws in our hearts and minds. How did he do it? By coming to live inside us when we invited him to live in our hearts. In this episode we read about God bringing water from the rock by having Moses strike it (this is a type of Jesus being crucified for us). We also read about the battle with the Amalekites (Amalek is a type of our fleshy human wants and desires). Finally in Chapter 18 we read about the wise counsel of Jethro, Moses Father-in-law. The lesson for us is to remember to not be so quick to dismiss other people’s counsel. Moses was humble enough to listen and learn. We must always be teachable. #4you #aaron #biblestudy #foryourpage #moses #amalek #jethro #israel #sinaí @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we talked about how God provided manna (bread) and quail (meat) for the children of Israel to eat. The application for us is that God will supply all our needs. The manna also points to (or is a type of) Jesus who said ‘I am the bread of life…anyone who eats this bread will live forever’ John 6:48-51. We eat of that bread whenever we read the Bible. In this episode we covered six plagues: frogs, lice, flies, livestock, boils, and hail. We mentioned that each one of these plagues marked a defeat for the numerous ‘gods’ the Egyptians worshiped. These plagues show that their gods were not real and they had no power. We also reviewed the purpose of the plagues as God told Pharaoh in Chapter 9 was to show His power and to spread His fame. We talked about why spreading His fame was important because God would eventually lead His people to conquer Canaan land (a land currently occupied by their enemies). A couple of take seats from this lesson is the fact that God protected the land of Goshen where His people lived. This is a reminder to us that He is our protector. In this episode we reviewed an abbreviated genealogy of the Levites, showing us that Moses and Aaron and Miriam were from the tribe of Levi. We also talked about the first two miracles performed by Moses and Aaron: rod became a snake and the water was turned into blood. We talked about how God was going to make sure Pharaoh maintained his stubborn posture so that God could continue to manifest how great He is. He will show that He is greater than Pharaoh and all the numerous gods the Egyptians worshiped. We also mentioned how it took God 80 years to prepare Moses for his purpose. Our take away from that is for us to be patient when God has a call on our life. Preparation is important. God knows when we are ready. So if we become inpatient and think God is not moving fast enough, just remember God is always on time. He knows what He is doing and He knows when you are ready. Also note, you have time…Moses was 80 before he started his purpose or ministry. You are not too old. In this episode we read and talked about Moses’ first confrontation with Pharaoh. Pharaoh refused to let God’s people. He then punished them by refusing to give them any straw to make bricks but ordered that the produce the same amount of bricks. Discouraged and upset, they blamed Moses. Moses takes their complaints to God. As bleak as it seems, Moses went straight to God. We must do the same when we are facing a problem…take it to the Lord in prayer. Someone once said, if it is worth talking about, it’s worth praying about. We also started Chapter 6 where God declared who He is and assured them He was about to keep His promises and deliver His people. God ordered Moses and Aaron to go back to Pharaoh and demand he let the people leave his country. As we see Moses make his excuses (I don’t speak well), it should remind us that when we have a call on our life, God is not going let us get away with not doing what He has for us to do. In this episode we talked about the conversation between God and Moses at the burning bush. This is where God spoke to Moses and told him to go deliver his people from Egypt. We discussed Moses’ five excuses or reasons why he should not be the one to deliver the Israelites from Egypt. We must remember any thing God asks us to do, He has already given us everything we need to accomplish the task. In this episode, we read about the birth of Moses, Moses’ escape to Midian, and Moses’ meeting with God at the burning bush. A couple of things we take away from this episode is in verse 6 of Chapter 2. We see the awesome way God protected Moses. This should remind us of how God protects us and takes care of us. We also talked about how Moses asked God who was he to lead the people out. We do the same thing when we ask God, ‘why me?’. When God gives us an assignment, why not us? We must remember we can do all things thru Christ who gives us strength. #biblestudy #foryourpage #4you #Moses #pharaoh #egypt #exodus #protection @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode, we reviewed the fact that Joseph and his family had to come to Egypt to survive the famine. By the time Exodus starts, the children of Israel have been in Egypt for 430 years. We talked about the fact that Joseph’s entire generation has died. There’s a new Pharaoh in charge who is intimidated by the growth of the Jews and made them slaves. He tries to stop them from multiplying by working them very hard. When he saw their numbers continue to increase, he told the midwives to kill the boy babies. After they refused to do so because of their fear of God, he told all the Egyptians they could throw any new born Hebrew boy in the river. One of our takeaways from this Chapter is that if God has blessed you, no one can stop you from receiving your blessing. God had promised Abraham that his seed would be like the stars in the sky. He also told Abraham he was going to become a great nation. Try as he might, Pharaoh can’t stop that blessing. When God has blessed, it can’t be stopped! #biblestudy #foryourpage #4you #exodus #pharaoh #moses #egypt #sinaí #midwives #aaron @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we talked about the greatest love story ever told and how we are the recipients of that love. We did a panoramic view of God’s master plan starting with Adam and Eve (all humanity) then God’s dealings with Noah (one chosen man), Abraham (one chosen family), Moses (one chosen nation), and then Jesus (now God deals with us, his church). (See book called ‘The Epic of Eden). Jesus died for us, rose from the dead, and then put his Holy Spirit inside us to ensure we would arrive at our destination. Oh how he loves us!! #biblestudy #foryourpage #jesus #lovestory #God #rescue
In this episode, we talked about Jesus resurrection, the lies told by the guards, and the great commission. One thing we mentioned is the fact that Mary Magdalene lingered after everyone else had left the tomb. Her waiting paid off. Jesus appeared to her and comforted her heart. We talked about the importance of us lingering in the Lords presence and waiting on God. If we learn to wait like Mary did, we will see our savior and receive the comfort we need. #biblestudy #foryourpage #jesus #matthew #4you #holyweek #resurrection #guards #greatcommission #appearances @readingthroughthebiblewith3242

In this episode we talked about how the soldiers mocked Jesus (at least 300 of them-the entire regiment). We also talked about how Jesus was crucified at 9:00 am on Friday. He had 7 final sayings on the cross, and he died at 3 pm. He was taken down from the cross on Friday evening before the Sabbath day started. We talked about how the veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom signifying that Jesus had just made the way for us to be reconciled back to God. Jesus made the way for us to walk and talk with our Heavenly Father again. We talked about how Jesus took our place and became sin for us. He took on all our guilt and shame forever and we have been declared ‘not guilty’ because of His shed blood. We have a lot to be thankful for! #biblestudy #foryourpage #jesus #matthew #4you #holyweek #crucifixion #darkness #mary @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we read verses 1-26. We discussed how Judas hung himself because he felt guilty about betraying Jesus. We also discussed Jesus’ six trials (he appeared 3 times before the Jewish authorities and three times before the Roman authorities. We also talked about how Jesus told the Roman Governor (Pilate) in John 19: 10-11, that the only power he had over Him was the power God allowed. This is also true for us. As Christians, our steps are ordered by God. No one can do any thing to us unless God allows it. And if God allows us to go through some tests, trials, or tough situations…He has a purpose in it. So when we go through our trials, we should ask our Father what is the lesson He wants us to learn. Jesus knew there was purpose in the things He had to suffer. Therefore He was able to endure it. We must recognize that God also has a plan for us. Knowing that God is in control helps us to go through our tests and come out victorious. #biblestudy #foryourpage #jesus #matthew #4you #holyweek #judasiscariot #sanhedrin #highpriests #herod #pilate @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode we read about Jesus before the Sanhedrin and about Peter’s denial. Jesus had six court hearings. He came to Earth to die for our sins and to take our place. In this episode we read verses 31-56. We read about and talked about Jesus prediction of Peter’s denial, Jesus prayer in the garden of Gethsemane, and Jesus betrayal and arrest. We were reminded that we should be grateful for all Jesus has done for us.
We covered verses 1-30 where we read about, the plot to kill Jesus, about Mary anointing him for his burial. We read about how Judas, one of his very own disciples, agreed to betray Him. Finally we covered the last supper that went from the traditional Passover meal to Jesus instituting what we now call communion. By partaking of communion, Jesus wanted us to remember how His body was broken for us and why His blood was shed for us. Jesus wanted us to be reminded, each time we take communion that He had bled and died to forever take away our sins. He by one sacrifice forever paid the price and erased our sin debt forever. He made the way for us to once again be restored back to Father God. The first Adam disobeyed and caused us all to be born into sin. The second Adam (who was Jesus) sacrificed His life to take away that sin. God now sees us through Christ righteousness. We have been declared ‘not guilty!’.
This Chapter is a continuation of Chapter 24, concluding the teaching Jesus gave on the Mount of Olives. This Chapter concludes the last major teaching recorded in Matthew. This is the fifth discourse or major teaching. In this Chapter Jesus teaches the parable of the 10 virgins, the parable of the talents given to three servants, and the chapter ends with the final judgment separating the sheep from the goats. The application from these three teachings is for us to 1. Allow God to prepare us for his return. 2. Use our gifts and talents to advance God’s kingdom, and 3. We are required to help hurting people while we are here on this earth. #fyp #biblestudy #foryourpage #jesus #matthew #holyweek #judgementday #parables #tenvirgins #gifts #talents #sheep #goats @readingthroughthebiblewith3242

In this Chapter we cover verses 1-14 where we talked about Jesus’ prediction of the destruction of the temple. We also talked about the signs of the times and the end of the age. In this episode we talked about how Jesus criticized the religious leaders because they were doing things to be seen and seeking after titles and recognition. We mentioned that Jesus wants us to be humble. We talked about Ephesians 4:11-16 where Jesus gave us some titles, gifts for the Church (Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. ) The purpose of our gifts/titles is to be used to grow us all up in Christ. In this episode we finished Chapter 22 verses 15-46. Here Jesus answered questions about paying taxes, about the resurrection, and about the the greatest commandment. Jesus also asked them a question at the end of the Chapter about why David called Jesus his Lord if Jesus was his son. The answer that they did not understand is that Jesus was both human and Divine…He was the offspring of David and He was God manifesting himself in the person of Jesus. In this episode we completed Chapter 21 discussing how the elders and the Chief Priest questioned Jesus authority . We also discussed the two parables Jesus gave that was directed at these leaders. The first parable was about two sons one said he would go and work in his father’s vineyard but he didn’t go. The other son said he would not go, but changed his mind and went. We must remember actions speak louder than words. Our life should line up with the words coming out of our mouths. In this episode we read about the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. This was His official declaration to the world that He was and is the Messiah. We also read about how Jesus cleansed the temple and got rid of those who were taking advantage of the people. We finished this episode reading about how He cursed the fig tree. We talked about how that fig tree represented the religious leaders at the time. They had been entrusted with the word of God yet they had no fruit to show for it. They were just religious and legalistic. We also talked about how Jesus blessed the children and reminded us again that we must become like children to enter the kingdom. We also talked about the rich young rulers question about how he could gain eternal life, sell all that he had. Peter also is told by Jesus that all those who have sacrificed for Jesus will be rewarded 100 times more. We stressed that everything we learn in the scriptures is not to condemn us, but learning what is written is meant to grow us up and to show us Gods plan for our lives. Jesus also taught us how we are to handle offenses amongst fellow Christians. Finally Jesus taught us that we must forgive one another continually. This is when Jesus took Peter, James, and John up the mountain and he was transformed, changed right before their eyes. Moses and Elijah also appeared with Jesus and talked about his pending death. We read Romans 12:2 which tells us we are also being transformed, changed, by the renewing of our mind. Another scripture we read was from Ephesians 4:22-24 which tells us we must throw off our old sinful nature and put on our new nature. In this episode we finished reading and discussing five additional parables. Jesus taught that the kingdom of heaven is like the following parables: the parable of the mustard seed, parable of the yeast (leaven), parable of the treasure in the field, parable of the pearl, and the parable of the fishing net. The parable of the mustard seed and the yeast gave us a picture of the growth of God’s kingdom. The parables of the treasure in the field and the pearl speaks to us about the love we have for God and the love He has for us. We must be willing to give our all for Him and He has already given His all for us (died on the cross). The parables of the wheat and tares and the fishing net speaks to us of the separation that will happen on judgement day. We are not to try and figure out who’s a wheat and who’s a tare. We only need to make sure our heart is right, stay humble, and trust in God to finish His work in us. #biblestudy #jesus #4you #foryourpage #parables #judgementday @readingthroughthebiblewith3242
In this episode Jesus uses 7 parables to teach us about the Kingdom of Heaven. In this first part we discussed the four different types of soil the seed fell on. They would be like sheep among wolves, they would be beaten and brought before kings in order to witness to them. He told them they would be hatted and called names. We discussed verse 13 thru the end of Chapter five, finishing the Chapter (we read Chapter 5 last week). What does a kingdom citizen look like? We are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. God’s law is not done away with, it is now a part of us, written in our hearts when we accept Jesus. We can’t be like the scribes and Pharisees who thought they could make it to heaven by being good enough and following all the laws. As kingdom citizens we will resolve our conflicts before they get out of hand. We will not allow ourselves to be hindered by watching things on TV or on social media we should not be watching. As Kingdom citizens, we don’t want to do anything that does not please God (regarding plucking out the eye - what are we looking at, and cutting off our right hand - what are we doing. If it is not pleasing to God, STOP IT). As kingdom citizens, we will love our enemies and those who are mean to us, and we will not retaliate. Everything Jesus is saying about us is like a mirror. In this episode we talked about the true meaning of repentance is an action word. True repentance is followed by change. We also talked about John the Baptist rebuking the Pharisees and the Sadducees and warning them that it means nothing that they were born Jews. We read a number of scriptures explaining that a true Jew and God’s people are those who bear fruit. The true children of Abraham are those who put their trust in God. We read also the scripture in Gal. 3:9 which states all who put their faith in Christ are children of Abraham. We also discussed that we also must produce fruit once we say yes to Jesus. We can’t live any way we want to live…’shall we sin that Grace may abound, No! We discussed how we will be baptized with the Holy Ghost (Acts 2) and with fire (trials and test etc.). We talked about how Matthew is strategically the first book of the New Testament because he mentions a lot of Old Testament scriptures to show the Jews, this is the Messiah you have been waiting for. Matthew is also viewed as a ‘Christian manual’, because the book gives instructions about how we are to live as Christians. We talked about how Matthew is a book that joins Jews and Gentiles showing that we are all one family when we accept Christ into our hearts. God has one holy family. The blood of Jesus is what makes us one! We discussed the events in the first two chapters. We talked about how God had everything prepared for Jesus’ coming. One of our takeaways from this lesson is that God will warn us about danger if we are in tune with Him and if we’re listening. Another point we learned was from the genealogy. God used Jews, Gentiles, men, women and some people who were less than perfect in Jesus family line. Our takeaway is that God can and will use us no matter what our past looks like. There is nothing we have done that is so terrible that God can’t use us. There were 5 women named as part of Jesus’ ancestors. Four of whom had a shady past (Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba). The men were not perfect either. But I mention the women because they are not normally listed in a genealogy. So God through Matthew is trying to tell us something. God can use Jews, Gentiles (everyone else that's not a Jew), males, and females, and people with a shady past to fulfill His purpose. This fact lets us know there is room in the kingdom for all of us, no matter what we have done in our past! @Reading Through the Bible with Elder Linda
We will be studying the old and New Testament simultaneously. In preparation for starting the book of Matthew, we reviewed the events of the Old Testament up to the end of Malachi ending with the Jews under Persian rule. We then discussed the different eras the Jews were under during the 400 year period (Persians, Greeks, Maccabean, and finally Roman). We also talked about some Jewish groups who arose during these silent years (Pharisees, Sadducee’s, Herodians, Zealots, Essences). We talked about how Alexander the Great and the Greek culture helped pave the way for the Messiah (roads, language, forced peace etc.) The 400 years of silence was broken when John the Baptist began to speak about Jesus. #foryou #4you #foryourpage #fyp #silent years #pharisees #sadducees #mathew #intertestamental @Reading Through the Bible with Elder Linda

Joseph tested his brothers by threatening to keep Benjamin. Judah pleaded for his life. Joseph finally tells them who he is. Pharaoh invites Jacob and his family to live in Egypt. Our take away from these chapters is that God is in control of our lives and he has our steps ordered. God allowed everything that happened to Joseph so that he could be in place to save the lives of God’s chosen people. #genesis #jacob #biblestudy #joseph #4you #egypt #foryourpage #fyp #orderedsteps
In this episode we completed Chapters 42 and 43 of Genesis. These Chapters talked about Joseph’s reunion with his brothers. In these two Chapters we saw the fulfillment of Joseph’s dreams as his brothers bowed down before him. Our take Away from this episode is the fact that God’s promises are sure and His word will come to pass. If we haven’t seen those promises fulfilled it’s because it’s not time yet. God is faithful and He will fulfill every promise He has spoken to us in His time. #genesis #jacob #biblestudy #joseph #promises #famine #elevation #egypt
In this episode Joseph is elevated to the second in command in Egypt after interpreting Pharaoh’s two dreams. He also gives Pharaoh wise counsel about what he should do. We discussed that Joseph had 13 years of preparation before he was ready to be promoted. Just as Joseph did his best wherever he found himself (slave, in prison), we too must always do our best wherever we find ourselves. Just as Joseph was elevated, God will elevate us in His time. #genesis #joseph #jacob #4you #foryourpage #foryoupage #4you #4u #4yourpage #elevation #promotion #biblestudy
In this episode we talked about Joseph as a slave in Egypt. We talked about how God was with Joseph and blessed him. We also discussed how Potiphar’s wife, lied on Joseph resulting in him being thrown into prison. We talked about how Joseph was being ‘set up’ to be ‘raised up’! We also compared Joseph’s life to our own because just as God was with Joseph as a slave and when he was thrown into prison, God is with us every step of the way. We also discussed how Joseph had to run to get away from temptation (Potiphar’s wife). We too need to run from sexual sin as it tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:18. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost. Just as Joseph did not understand everything he had to go thru, neither do we. But we do know that God promises to work everything out for our good. We also talked about the need for us to do everything to the glory of God for God is watching us.
We talked about how Tamar tricked Judah into making her pregnant. Perez, one of Tamar’s twin sons became a direct ancestor of Jesus. We talked about the dysfunction in Jacob’s family. We also discussed that if God could use Judah and many of the other imperfect people in the Bible surely he can use us. #jacob #genesis #biblestudy #tamar #judah #twins #prostitutes
In this episode we talked about how Joseph was loved by his father but hated by his brothers. Joseph is sold by his brothers into slavery. We talked about divine appointment. We discussed how God will get us where we need to be. Joseph had a destiny that included him going to Egypt. #jacob #genesis #biblestudy #blessed #joseph #egypt #jacob
In this weeks lesson we talked about idol worship discussed that anything you love more than God can potentially become an idol to us. We also discussed Esau’s family line and the fact that he became the father of the Edomites. Just as God said, Rebekah birthed two nations: the Edomites (father being Esau) and the Israelites (father being Jacob) #genesis #biblestudy #esau #genealogy #idols
In this lesson we discussed Jacob returning home and how he commanded his people to get rid of all their idols. We also discussed the death of Rachel and Isaac. We talked about how Rueben slept with his father’s concubine and he will later regret it.
In this episode Dinah is raped and her brothers kill all the men of Shechem to get revenge. We also talked about how sin has entered the world (because of the fall of Adam and Eve). We talked about how at this point in our biblical history God is allowing sin to run its course because God will eventually send his only son, Jesus to take care of our sin problem. Thank God for Jesus! #jesus #jacob #genesis #biblestudy #blessed #dinah #simeon #levi @reading through the Bible with Elder Linda
In this Chapter, we discussed the reunion of Esau and Jacob. We mentioned that Esau had forgiven Jacob and how God allows our enemies to be at peace with us because we belong to God. Jacob acknowledged that he knew God had blessed him. We need to remember that our blessings come from God and remember to thank Him. #genesis #jacob #biblestudy #blessed #esau
In this episode we completed Genesis Chapter 32 where we talked about the gifts Jacob gave to Esau and their reunion when Esau forgave Jacob. We talked about Jacob wrestling with the angel (which represented God) and have his name (nature) changed from Jacob (the deceiver by, schemer) to Israel (Prince with God). We talked about our struggles and the fact that we too must wrestle with God thru those trying situations until we see a change. Whether we are praying for our own problems or situation or someone else’s. Sometimes we must hold on until we see a change. We talked about the significance of this name change because this is where the term started, the children of Israel. The descendants of Jacob (Israel) are the children of Israel. It’s as if through all his struggles, Jacob is birthing a nation! All his struggles with Esau, Laban, his two wives, and now his struggle with God could represent ‘labor’ pains. Through him and his twelve sons, a nation is born! @Reading Through the Bible the Bible with Elder Linda #genesis #jacob #biblestudy #blessed #israel #israelites #angels
In this lesson @Reading Through the Bible with Elder Linda, we talked about how God had assigned the angels to assist Jacob. We were reminded that angels are real and they still assist us today. Scriptures and a current personal example was given to confirm their existence. We also discussed how Jacob prepared to meet Esau not knowing if he still wanted to kill him. We talked about one of the things Jacob did was to pray. We discussed how prayer should also be the first thing we do when we are afraid or are being attacked. #genesis #jacob #biblestudy #blessed #angels #pray
In this Episode we talked about how Jacob fled from Laban, Laban goes after him and they make an oath to not harm each other. We talked about God’s divine protection as seen when He appeared to Laban in a dream and warned him to leave Jacob alone. We talked about how Jacob was not perfect, but he was chosen. We compared Jacob to us remembering that we are not perfect, but we are chosen by God and God will not allow anyone to get away with treating us badly. We mentioned that scripture in Zech. 2:8 ‘he that touches you touches the apple of my eye’. #jacob #laban #genesis #rachel #leah #blessed #chosen
This Chapter is about Jacob fleeing Laban. Laban goes after him. They make an agreement never to harm each other. We spoke about how Laban’s sons hated Jacob. We discussed that as Christians we will have haters just like they hated Jesus. John 15:18. We will complete this Chapter in next week’s lesson. #genesis #biblestudy #jacob #laban
We talked about how the nation of Israel was being birthed who would come from Jacob’s 12 sons. We also talked about how God blessed Jacob and made him rich before he left Laban. What we take from this chapter is that when God has chosen you He will make sure you get blessed with everything you need and more. Jacob was not perfect, but he was chosen. When you are chosen, God will make things happen in your favor. #jacob #rachel #leah #laban #blessed #chosen
We talked about Jacob going to Haran, meeting Rachael his cousin and ending up being tricked by Laban (his uncle) into marrying both sisters. We also discussed how Leah felt unloved and seemed to have a relationship with God as evidenced by the names she gave her first four sons. We made the application for us that just like Leah, sometimes God allows us to go through things just to make us cry out to him. If what we are going through causes us to cry out to God, it is doing what it was meant to do. #genesis #biblestudy #rachel #leah #jacob #laban #patriarch
We talked about Jesus being that staircase, our connection to God. We also talked about how God gave the promises to Jacob and how Jacob promised that if God would take care of him, he will serve God and give Him a tenth of everything God gives him.
We talked about how Rebekah and Jacob tricked Isaac and received the blessing. We also talked about how Esau became angry and sought to kill Jacob resulting in Jacob staying away from home for the next 20 years. We talked about this Chapter revealing the divine providence of God. Even with all the scheming and lying going on, God’s plan and purpose will be done. When God has blessed you and chosen you He is going to make sure you get where you need to be. He is a sovereign God (ultimate power) and He gets the final word! When He blesses you, no one can take that away from you! #genesis #biblestudy #isaac #bookofgenesis #genesis27 #blessed #jacob #esau #rebekah #rebecca
We talked about how Isaac deceived Abimelech by saying Rebekah was his sister (she was actually his second cousin and his wife). We discussed how it appeared that Isaac said she was his sister as a sort of plan B. Even though God promised to be with Isaac, he felt he had to take other precautions to protect himself. We applied that to us, do we have a plan B just in case God does not come through? It was stressed that God wants to be our plan A, B, and C. We also talked about the struggles Isaac went thru trying to find a place in Canaan. We also talked about that even with all of Isaac’s faults, God was still in covenant with him, so God protected him and continued to bless him. #genesis #biblestudy #bookofgenesis #genesis26 #isaac #rebekah #famine #abimelech #blessed #patriarch #philistines #promise #promisedland #canaan
We talked about the death of Abraham. We talked about the fact that the Bible says Abraham was gathered to his people. We read a number of scriptures stating that when the patriarchs died, they were gathered to their people. We discussed that the commentators say this wording gives proof of the afterlife. We read the story in Luke 16:19 about the rich man and Lazarus. We stressed that we want to repent of our sins now and turn to God because once we die, it will be too late. We also talked about the birth of Esau and Jacob and how Esau sold his birthright for a bowl of stew. #genesis #biblestudy #abraham #Esau #Jacob
We talked about how Eliezer was successful in finding a wife for Isaac. We talked about how this love story is a type and shadow of how the Holy Spirit (Eliezer) comes bringing gifts to eventually take us to meet our heavenly bridegroom, Jesus (Isaac). #genesis #biblestudy #bookofgenesis #abraham #isaac #holyspirit #rebecca
In Chapter 23, We talked about the death of Sarah and how Abraham was able to purchase a piece of the promised land by buying a burial place for his family. Abraham was known as an honorable man, we discussed what do people say about us. Do the people who know us say us as people of honor and integrity. Because we represent Christ, we should be a people of integrity. We read Chapter 24 this week in preparation for our discussion next week. Chapter 24 was about finding a wife for Isaac. #sarah #promise #promisedland #abraham #isaac #rebecca
We talked about Abraham being tested to willingly sacrifice his son. We discussed three events where Abraham had to obey God: 1. When he was told to leave everything he knew (Gen 12) 2. When he was told to circumcise his household (Gen. 17) 3. When he was told to sacrifice his son (22) We talked about why God tested Abraham by asking him to sacrifice his son. God wanted to see if Abraham loved and revered Him. Abraham passed the test. We made application to our lives. That God will require us to continue to offer up to him the gifts He gave us so that He will continue to get all the glory. What ever your gift is, remember God gave it to you, but we must continue to give all the glory back to God. We also talked about obedience being an act of worship. God is pleased with us when we are obedient to do whatever He tells us to do. God is a jealous God and He does not want us to put anything before Him, that includes the precious gifts He gave us.
We read Genesis 21 and talked about the birth of Isaac - God’s promises fulfilled. We talked about Hagar and Ishmael being sent away, but how God took care of them. We talked about the covenant made between Abraham and Abimelech - Abimelech had seen first hand the power of God to curse the wombs of the women in his city and then how the miraculous power of God could heal thru Abraham. We ended discussing what Hagar and Sarah represent…the bond woman (the flesh and the law) vs the free woman (the spirit of God and the new covenant). We stressed how we must refrain from trying to make things happen in the flesh or with our own schemes. Instead we must move in the spirit and only do those things God tells us to do, when and how He tells us to do it. #genesis #biblestudy #genesis21 #isaac #sarah #hagar #abraham
We talked about how Abraham told a half truth that Sarah was his sister and didn’t mention the deeper relationship as his wife. We talked about that although Abraham lied out of fear, God still was in covenant with him so he kept him and Sarah safe. We stressed the fact that we should appreciate God showing us all Abraham’s flaws because it gives us hope that if God can use him, he can use you and I as well. We also talked about lying, that it is wrong to lie and we should not practice lying. We read scriptures in the Bible reminding us not to lie. #lying #genesis #genesis20 #sarah #biblestudy #bookofgenesis
We talked about how the angels had to take Lot and his family by the hand to get them out of the city. Sodom and three other cities are destroyed. Lot’s wife looked back. We compared her looking back to us looking back after God delivers us from a bad habit or from anything and we try to go back to it. Don’t look back but keep on moving from level to level, from glory to glory. We talked about the incest committed by Lot’s daughters. We discussed that even though this appears to be a tragic end for Lot, Ruth was a Moabite (Lot’s offspring) which means God allowed Lot’s of spring to be in Jesus family line. We read Luke 17:28-37 which compared the destruction of Sodom to our coming judgement day. We ended talking a little about angels, how they are messengers delivering God’s message to men and women. We also talked about fallen angels. #genesis19 #sodom #sodomandgomorrah #wednesdaynightbiblestudy #biblestudy
The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. We talked about how the angels rescued Lot. Lot thought he had to protect the angels, but they ended up protecting him. We read laws about homosexuality in Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:24-27, Jude 7. We ended this lesson talking about our responsibility to warn people of the judgement that’s coming like getting people out of a burning house.
We read Genesis Chapter 18 and discussed the angels and the Lord who visited Abraham; how Sarah was told she would have a son by this time next year; and we talked about how Abraham interceded for Sodom and Gomorrah. We also discussed how Sarah doubted and related that to us when we sometimes doubt if God is going to fulfill His promises. No matter how long we have waited, and no matter what it looks like, we have to keep believing that God will do what He said He would do in our lives. It is even ok if we have to say the prayer the man prayed in Mark 9:24, 'Lord I believe, help thou my unbelief'. We should always be honest with God and ask Him to help us when we are having problems believing that God will come through for us.
We also discussed what does it take to be a friend of God? Abraham was our example, he obeyed God and he believed God would fulfill all his promises. So it appears to be God's friend we simply have to obey God, and believe He will do what He says He will do. When you are God's friend, He reveals secrets to you just like He told Abraham that He was about to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.
We reviewed all the lesson we have had this far to make sure we all understand the lessons. Reminded everyone that we can divide the bible into three sections as noted by Bible scholars: The history of the Human race (Genesis 1 -11); the history of the chosen race (Genesis 12 - Matthew); and the history of the church (Matthew - Revelation).
We completed our study of the Abrahamic Covenant. We talked about the three things Abraham had to do to solidify the promises and to be a part of this covenant. Abraham’s three acts of obedience was 1. He had to leave his home and relatives, 2. He had to circumcise his entire household, and 3. He had to be willing to sacrifice his only promised son. Once Abraham proved his obedience, everything became unconditional…meaning Abraham did not have to do anything but watch God bring the promises to pass. We also discussed how Jesus is our circumcision. He is cutting everything off us that hinders us from receiving all our blessings or hindering us from being ready when He comes back for us. We ended with Romans 5:19 ‘For by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.’
We stressed why we need to know about the Abrahamic Covenant. This covenant and Abraham’s journey is the start of God making a nation of people (the Jewish people) who would proclaim to the world who and what God is all about. They did this through their feasts, laws, sacrifices, and ceremonies. Everything they did was pointing to Christ, the Messiah who would one day come and be the final sacrifice for all mankind. Jesus Christ was the answer to our sin problem. We began reading and explaining the scriptures that talked about the Abrahamic covenant.
We talked about Abraham’s obedience. He circumcised his household without asking God why. We talked about how just as Abraham had to wait on God for his promised son, we will also have to wait to see God’s promises fulfilled in our lives. We began talking about the Abrahamic covenant and gave the reasons why it is the most important covenant in the Old Testament. We read scriptures that confirmed the fact that we, Gentiles (everyone who’s not a Jew but have accepted Christ) are also a part of Abraham’s seed and all the promises given to him is for all Christian’s as well.
We should not run away from our problems. As we allow God to do the work in us we will be ready when Christ returns.
We discussed how Abram talked to God about giving him a son. We discussed what it means to declared righteous. We talked about how God revealed the future to Abram about the 400 years of bondage in Egypt that the children of Israel would have to go through. We talked about how our God is a consuming fire, Hebrews 12:29. We read Chapter 16 and began discussing the events leading up to the birth of Ishmael.
We talked about how Abram met with the kings of Sodom and Salem after his great victory. We discussed how Abram refused to take anything from the king of Sodom so that the king would not be able to say he made Abram rich. We talked about how Abram raised his hand…a practice we still use in court today to swear an oath. We talked about how God was Abram’s shield (protection) and his ‘exceeding great reward. We stressed that having a relationship with God is the greatest reward we can possibly have…God is our reward!
We talked about the fact that Abram and Lot were both wealthy and stressed how God wants us to prosper and be in good health. We talked about the separation of Abram and Lot and what caused them to separate. We discussed how God will sometimes need to separate us from people who are not good for us. We stressed the phrase of being ‘rejected for your protection’. Stating that God knows what is best for us and if we didn’t get the job or the man or woman we thought was for us…God did not allow it because it was not going to be good for us. We talked about the war between the nine kings and how Abram had to rescue Lot who had been taken captive. We stressed how we are victorious and how Revelation tells us we win!
In this Episode, we talked more about the Abrahamic covenant which stated that Abraham would become a great nation; God would bless him, make is name famous; he would be a blessing to others; those that bless him would be blessed and those that cursed him would be cursed. We discussed the fact that Abraham was rich and that God wants us to prosper and have more than enough. We talked about why Abraham felt he had to lie and say Sarah was his sister. Since Sarah found herself about to be one of Pharaoh's concubines, we explained what a concubine is. We also discussed how Abraham worshiped God via his animal sacrifices and compared that to how we worship God daily by submitting to Him our will, ways, emotions, desires, etc. We worship God by making our bodies a living sacrifice....not my will but thine be done! We also discussed how God protected Abraham and Sarah and how He protects us daily.
In this Episode we talked about Terah, Abram's father and the fact that he left Ur to go to Canaan. Although there was no indication that God had ever talked to Terah about going to Canaan, he headed in that direction but stopped in Haran and stayed there until his death. We also talked about the fact that all the promises God gave to Abraham belong to us. We read the scripture in Galatians 3:26-29 which reads as follows:
"For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For we are all one in Christ Jesus. And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God's promise to Abraham belongs to you." (NLT)
We also started discussing some of the benefits promised in the Abrahamic Covenant. Some of that covenant included the following:
Abraham would become a great nation
God would bless Abraham
God will make Abraham famous
Abraham would be a blessing to others
Those that bless Abraham would be blessed
Those who cursed Abraham would be cursed
All the families of the earth would be blessed through Abraham
Chapter 12 will be completed in the next Episode.
In this Episode we talked about the family history of Noah and his sons. By reviewing this lesson you can learn which one of Noah's sons was your ancestor. We review which area each son migrated to. We also began talking about our Father Abraham. We also read about and discussed the Tower of Babel and the possible reasons God had to give us all different languages.
In this Episode, we read Chapter 9 and discussed the new laws God instituted after the flood. We discussed the fact that we are all related because we all came from Adam and Eve. We discussed why we have different skin color. We also discussed the Noahic covenant and what that means to us. We also talked about Noah's drunken episode which resulted in Ham's son Canaan being cursed. We discussed some reasons given as to why Canaan was cursed instead of Ham.
In this Episode, we discussed how long it took for flood waters to recede during Noah's time. We also discussed how God spoke to Noah and gave Him instructions about when to leave the ark. We discussed the fact that Noah listened closely to God' instructions and did not make a move until God told Him it was time to move. We compared Noah's obedience to us in present time stating that we must listen and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and don't make a move unless God tells us to. If God has told us to be at a certain Church, we should stay at said Church until God tells us it is time to leave. There is no such thing as a perfect Church. Therefore, we should not be jumping from Church to Church. Pray about where we are to be and stay there to learn all that God wants to teach us. Leaving before time will cause us to have to repeat lessons or tests. Some situations are too painful to repeat so we want to learn our lesson the first time.
We also did a teaching on the fact that God spoke to Noah and stressed that God also still speaks to us. Writer listed the many ways that God speaks to us showing that God is always speaking, but we sometimes do not recognize his voice. Some ways we explained that God speaks to us include the following: Thru creation, the Bible, Pastors/Ministers/Teachers, thru children, thru our Christian brothers and sisters, thru tracks, thru a billboard, thru dreams, thru visions, thru our own minds, God speaks to us directly, thru words of a song, thru situations we go thru, thru silence, thru the noise, and while we are observing someone else. Examples were given of each of the aforementioned ways God speaks to us. Encouraged us all to pray and ask God to make us more sensitive to his voice so that we can recognize when He is speaking to us.
We discussed the flood of Noah's day and compared that judgement to the judgement we will receive at the end of the age, when judgment falls on the world as we know it. We discussed the importance of having your name written in the Lamb's book of life, Revelations 20:15. Having your name written in the Lamb's book means you will not have to worry about the lake that burns with fire. This is the lake that all unbelievers, murderers, liars, etc. will be thrown into if they do not repent. The way you can get your name written in the Lamb's book is simply by accepting Christ into your heart. The moment you accept Him, your name is written in the Lamb's book of life. God does not want any of us to perish or to be put in the lake of fire which was not even initially prepared for us. The lake of fire was prepared for the devil and his demons...it was not suppose to be for humans. So accept God today who loves you so much that He has not returned yet because He is waiting for you to accept Him into your heart by saying - "Lord I know you died for me. I repent of my sins, forgive me for my sins, come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior". If you said those words and meant it, I welcome you to the family of God! God bless you! Continue to listen to this podcast so that you can learn more about Jesus and grow in the Lord. Also find some seasoned Christians to fellowship with and to learn from.
In this Episode, we talked about how God destroyed all of humanity except 8 people. We also discussed how the things that were happening in Noah's day is happening now. We talked about the fact that God's judgment has not fallen on us because the iniquity (sin) is not yet full. In other words God is allowing sin to run its course before He pronounces His judgement on this Earth and all mankind. Another reason we discussed why God's judgement has not fallen is because of God's mercy and grace. He wants all who will repent and come to Him to have the opportunity to do just that. It is not His will that any should perish. God wants everyone to come to repentance. God will not force us to choose Him. We must choose Him before it is too late.
We discussed God's specific instructions for Noah and how Noah did everything God told him to do. The question was raised about our obedience to God. Do we do everything God tells us to do? Or do we pick and choose what is convenient for us to obey.
I am sure that in Noah's day, the people thought they had plenty of time. But we are reminded that the end of the world and Jesus return is known by no man, not even the angels. We talked about Jesus return being compared to the coming of a thief in the night...totally unexpected. Therefore, since we do not know the day or the hour of Christ return, we should always be in a state of readiness (having Christ in our heart and anticipating His return).
We will complete Chapter 7 in the next Episode.
We read Genesis Chapter 5 (genealogy) from Adam to Noah. We also made note of the fact that other sons and daughters were being born at this time as well. (They intermarried with each other at this time it was permissible). Made mention of Lamech who is not the same Lamech from Chapter 4, this is Noah's father. Talked about Enoch who walked with God closely, but was taken to heaven without dying, God took him. Compared him to Elijah who was also taken to heaven in a whirlwind. Neither of these men saw death before they left this earth.
In Chapter 6, we looked up the meaning of 'sons of God' in Job 1:6, and Job 2:1 and learned that 'sons of God refer to angels. We also researched Nephilim which per the NIV Study Bible were giants-people of great size and strength. The Hebrew word Nephilim means fallen ones. We talked about how these angels were out of order and God punished them by locking them up in chains until He decides their judgment. (2 Peter 2:4, Jude 6). Chapter 6 will be completed in the next episode.
In this episode, we define sin. We go over the scriptures in the Bible that teach us why we need Jesus and what happens once we accept Jesus into our hearts. We discussed the fact that we are all sinners and we needed a savior. We talked about the eternal benefits of accepting Christ into your heart.
We close this episode with the sinners prayer.
In this episode, I explained why we need Jesus and what happens when you accept Jesus into your heart. At the end of the explanation, we go through the sinners prayer. This version is simply an explanation.
Please review the episode called 'Teaching about Salvation' to review all the scriptures about salvation. The 'Teaching About Salvation' episode will help you to know and understand what the Bible says about your salvation experience. Stop and start the podcast to make sure you get all the scriptures.
We read about and discussed Cain and Abel. Talked about why Cain's offering was rejected. Discussed the continued decline of the human race. Main application for us is to not be like Cain and allow jealousy and envy to fester in us. Instead we are to love one another. Discussed us allowing God to deal with any resentment or jealousy that rises up in us. Be honest with God and He will help us overcome any negative emotions.
Discussed Chapter 3 which we read last week. Talked about Adam and Eve's sin and the consequences of the fall:
Application for us is that sin has consequences
Don't Listen to the lies of the devil
Don't try to hide from God, just come clean. God has made provision for your sins (past, present, and future). You are covered by the blood.
We completed Chapter 2. Discussed the delegated authority God gave to Adam to name all the animals. Read a portion of the book, A Letter and a Prayer for Married Couples' discussing the relationship between the man and the woman. We read Chapter 3 but will discuss in detail on the next episode.
We talked about the creation of humans completing Chapter 1. In Chapter 2, we discussed the question, How did Moses know the creation story if he was not there? We discussed the Adamic Covenant. We talked about Adam and Eve being equally given the responsibility to govern the earth.
In this episode we read Genesis Chapter 1. We stressed the fact that God is the creator. We also stressed the power of the spoken word and the application to us that our words also have power and we should be watchful of what we say and pray that our words would edify people (build up people and not tear them down).
