Ever feel like cooking healthy meals is overwhelming or that you just don’t have the time?
You’re not alone! That’s exactly why I was so excited to sit down with Chef Jeremy Rock Smith for this week’s podcast episode.
Jeremy spent years in high-pressure restaurant kitchens before experiencing a midlife cooking crisis that completely changed his relationship with food. His journey led him to top wellness resorts like Canyon Ranch, Kripalu, and Miraval, where he began teaching others how to make cooking both simple and nourishing.
This episode is full of practical tips, humor, and insights that will inspire you to rethink how you cook and eat.
I’m so grateful to Jeremy for sharing his journey, knowledge, and passion for making food a source of health and joy.

We all need to eat to survive. We assume that eating is second nature. But did you know that there are many factors that impact how a person consumes food?
We often hear the term “picky eater,” it’s often just an assumption that this type of behavior goes along with childhood development. But did you know that there is more to this issue than meets the eye?
I talked with Jacklyn Penderson, the CEO of Feeding Matters, about a little known disorder called Pediatric Feeding Disorder.
If you haven’t ever heard of this you’re not alone. I have worked with many children and adolescents who I can see clearly had this issue, but we never had a good way to screen for it or truly understand it.
If you have a child, or know of a family who has children that might be suffering from this little known condition, you will want to listen to this episode.
PFD is a real condition and requires early intervention in order to effectively manage it. I truly was inspired by our conversation and I think you will be too.

I never truly knew or understood how impactful body work could be until I interviewed Faysal Abi today on my podcast.
Faysal is a leader in the area of understanding the human body’s design, function, pain and the mind-body connection to it. If you are dealing with any type of chronic pain issue you are going to want to listen to this fascinating conversation.
If you want to better understand how to optimize your strength and flexibility you will want to take a listen. I definitely learned new things about the body, how it works, and even about my sneakers! You’ll have to listen to hear what I mean by that!

I love the incredible amount of detail I learn from a client’s genetic report. From there I create a DNA blueprint that takes all that technical knowledge and turns it into something they can understand and use to create real change in their lives.
So many people come to me having spoken to other doctors or health professionals who suggest something generic - that doesn’t work for them. Meanwhile the health issues are accumulating and my client has no idea which one to address first, especially when they have to go see a different specialist for each one.
But it’s so hard for me to show you how these actually work with clients - those old HIPAA rules mean I can’t just share any old report, and it’s so hard to explain without the context of how it works in someone’s life.
Which is why I was delighted to be on Dr. Shivani Gupta’s podcast Fusionary Health recently. I’ve been working with Dr. Shivani on her health issues, and she recently took the 3x4 genetic test I use with all my clients.
She was willing to share all the details (we actually read through it on the podcast) and I could explain exactly what those results mean for her health both now and in the future.
If you’ve ever wondered just how useful genetic tests are, then you’re going to want to take a listen to this one! You’ll hear me break it down in real time, and get a real sense of the support I can provide clients to know what issue to deal with first.
Were you ever prescribed a medication and didn’t question why or for how long or even what it was for exactly? Did you have a say in this decision? Would you prefer to NOT be on any medications at all?
Well if you answered yes to any of these you will want to listen to this podcast.
Today I talk with Howie Kra, who has been on his health journey for 3 ½ years now and has made amazing progress. Howie was on three different medications, and like many of you, wanted to be off them but just didn’t know what he needed to do to get there.
Howie shares his health challenges, where he started and how far he has come. If you want to hear about what Howie has done and the ups and downs of this process take a listen. He’s always an inspiration to listen to and is sure to get you thinking about your own health journey.
There’s a lot of buzz going around on social media about our food. Specifically around the quality of our food and how so many chemicals have made their way into the supply chain of the foods we eat.
The impact of this is far reaching and has significant health consequences both for adults and children.
The rise of serious health conditions such as certain cancers can also be linked to these toxic chemicals and if you want to know more about this you need to listen.
If you are wondering how and why this is happening take a listen. Hear about the grassroots efforts taking place nationally to hold these companies accountable for their misleading actions.
Awareness is key. Educate yourself about what is in your food so you can protect yourself and those you love.

With so many of our clients on the GLP-1 medications, we figured it was time to address the elephant in the room.
How do you maintain weight loss once you come off of the medications? It is a well known fact that the majority of people on GLP-1 medications see rapid weight gain once they stop taking them. So how do you keep the weight off?
This week I talked with one of our coaches, Michele Baron, and we took a deep dive into why people begin to gain weight after they cycle off of these medications. We talk about strategies to help offset this phenomenon and how to manage it before it gets out of control. We discuss ways to help control hunger and cravings and offer real time solutions.
Our conversation covers a variety of topics such as the importance of resistance exercise and what that looks like as well as how to create lifelong habits that will help support long term weight management.
This is a great episode, don’t miss it!
I am always inspired by the guests I get to interview for this podcast. Today was no different, but my conversation with Kelly Ryerson was particularly impactful for me. Kelly defines what it means to be an advocate for health and for industry transparency.
Take a listen to how Kelly’s own health crisis led her down the path of exposing the dangerous chemicals in our food supply, specifically glyphosate. This is truly a must listen. If you care about your health, if you care about your childrens’ health, you need to tune into this one.
Kelly and I cover so much ground here and discuss how the food industry “gets” away with poisoning us and our families.
I encourage you to listen and share this information. It's vital to our health, that of our families and that of our planet.

Let's face it, raising kids can be challenging. We all want the best for our children, and teaching them how to take care of themselves is an important job for us parents. Speaking from experience, I know what it’s like to get the push back from not only my kids, but from society itself.
We are endlessly inundated with mixed messages and false advertising from the food industry, and sometimes, trying to do the “right thing” can be exhausting. In this rerun of episode 63 from 2022, Amanda and I talk about the challenges we face in sticking to our guns and staying true to the conviction we have as parents to feed our children food that helps to nourish their body and mind.
If you are frustrated, confused, or tired of fighting with your kids about food, take a listen to this podcast as we offer up some great advice for those of you who are struggling to feed your children. I truly do love talking with experts in their fields of study and this week was no different. I had the sincere pleasure of speaking with world-renowned cardiologist Dr. Joel Kahn.
Dr. Kahn. is an interventional cardiologist whose focus is centered around the idea that a plant-based diet is the most powerful source of preventative medicine on the planet.
Today Dr. Kahn and I address the topic of protein, an extremely hot and triggering topic these days. Dr. Khan shares his views on what we need to know about cardiovascular disease and what the important aspects of testing and screening we all should be doing to prevent cardiovascular disease from wreaking havoc on our lives.
We talk about lifestyle factors that are crucial to help prevent and manage cardiovascular disease, and why Dr. Kahn believes a plant-based diet is key to longevity.
We hear about inflammation, we know it’s not good for you, but do you really understand what it is and how it impacts your health? Did you know that ongoing inflammation will impact your longevity?
Do you know there are specific tests you can take that show levels of inflammation?
Are you aware of the many factors that contribute towards inflammation?
Are you curious about how nutrition and lifestyle can help improve your levels of inflammation?
If all of these questions leave you wondering, then you are going to want to listen to this podcast
Today Amanda and I take a deep dive into inflammation and the steps you can take to help control it.

Is weight loss the key to healthy and wellbeing?
One of my most favorite things to do is talk to clients about their amazing success stories with us. But, our success stories aren’t just about weight loss. As a matter of fact, most of the time, weight loss is the side effect of adopting new habits, a new way of looking at food and nourishment. More importantly it's about the time, effort and energy that you invest in yourself. The truest form of self care there is.
Nope, no magic quick fixes here. If you want to hear about what the journey looks like then take a listen to this podcast. I chat with one of our amazing clients, Natalie, about her journey with us. Listen as Natalie's takes us through her process and her quest for transformation.
It's truly awe inspiring to hear her talk and she definitely tells it like it is.
We talked about:
Protein, protein, protein. This topic is everywhere. And I literally mean everywhere. It is one of the most trending topics on social media, and people are talking about it wherever I go.
Yet have you ever wondered where we get the recommendations that we do? Have you ever thought about whether or not what you have been told is correct? Seems like there are so many so-called experts out there, and so many studies that contradict one another, how do we even know where to start with all of it?
This is the topic of our discussion today. Dr. Sherri Greene and I try to debunk the false “truths” and help you truly understand what is behind the protein debacle.
If you are curious about how much you need, and where to get it, and who to trust, you will want to listen to this.
If you are looking to heal your body and live a healthy long life. You will especially want to hear this.

It’s 4th July week, and that means some of you will be hanging out with family, going to parties, and maybe having a tough time with regulating your emotions in relation to relationships or food. So I figured it was the perfect time to do a Rebel Rewind of this part 2 of this conversation I had with Shari Coltune in 2022.
We talk about how we handle our emotions and the brain body connection. We consider how to nourish all of ourselves in an effort to get and stay healthy.
Shari is a Master Certified Integrative Life Coach and Intuitive Healer who works with people with autoimmune issues, and with problems of estrangement and loss of identity.
We discussed reframing how we see ‘fixing’ health problems, diet culture, and a tool Shari suggests to help when you’ve been making progress but then go back to your old, destructive habits.
Take a listen as Shari and I discuss all this and more - I think you’ll love it!
I have a question for you — do you ever think about the food you eat? I mean really think about where it comes from and who is growing it?
Have you ever had a garden or grown your own food? If you have you probably have a whole different appreciation for farmers, as it’s not always so easy tending to one’s garden! But you also know that food you have grown yourself tastes completely different than what you buy in the store.
It has become more apparent to me that our freedom around food is becoming increasingly regulated and with that increasingly devitalized and toxic.
Toxic food, that has been factory farmed, with chemicals, fertilizers and pesticides is unhealthy for our bodies and as we know from studies leads to disease.
How do we protect ourselves from this? Amanda and I talk about the growing trend of regenerative farming, and how empowering farmers to take back control over their land can not only make a difference in our lives, but can also greatly impact our planet.
Take a listen to this compelling conversation. It will have you looking at your food in a whole new light.
And check out Moms Across America gluten-free test results that Amanda mentioned in the episode.

I think that is pretty appropriate for the discussion I had with Dr Eva Brown, a licensed marriage and family therapist, owner and founder of Sacred Partners and the creator of her signature methodology Conscious Relationship Mapping™”
This was such an informative and eye opening discussion. I truly believe that anyone and everyone who has ever been in a relationship should explore this conversation.
Dr. Eva talks about concepts and ideas that are not a common topic in many therapist’s offices. Not only that, she brings in conversations that are so important to building, cultivating, and nurturing a conscious partnership, conversations that I can tell you I never even knew should be a ‘thing” I absolutely loved this episode with her!

Today I dive into part 2 of the Ozempic conversation. There is so much misinformation about this class of drugs and I wanted to take a moment to share what I have learned and talk about what I have found through the research that I have done on this topic.
Trust me this is a big one. There are truths, there are lies and there are the facts in between.
In this episode I dive into the underpinnings behind the push for these medications and the facts that we aren’t being told
I talk about how to support those who are on the medications and how we can find a happy medium between being on them and having weight loss success to transitioning off and maintaining that success.
Take a listen if you want to understand what is beyond the hype and how we can best support your efforts at long term health and wellness success!

How often have you stopped, I mean really stopped, to take a moment out of your day to contemplate what really matters to you?
Perhaps you meditate, perhaps you journal. And yes, those things do allow us to pause, but often during that time our mind is still occupied with other thoughts.
I want to know if you actually take time to ponder what brings you nourishment in your life?
I am not just talking about food here, and yes of course that is important and we talk about that all the time.
Just as important as food are the other ways in which we nourish our minds our bodies and our souls.
Today in my conversation with Elyse Wagner, we dive into this area of self-nourishment and how to do it.
How to ask the important questions and why it really matters in the long run.
If we just move from one task to the next does that nourish us? If we are just crossing things off of our to do list, while yes, it might be productive, does it contribute to our overall sense of wellbeing?

Yes, she is back! That is right, I am referring to our amazing life coach, Shari Coltune. There is so much to explore when it comes to self-reflection, self-care and working through our own subconscious beliefs, and stories, so I felt it was only appropriate to bring Shari back to talk about boundaries.
This is a topic that has come up so often in my practice and I know there is a ton of buzz about it on social media. I have said it before, it took me until I was 50 years old to truly understand what setting boundaries actually meant. And as Nancy Levin says, “setting boundaries will set you free.”
You will want to listen to this podcast as we take a deep dive into better understand what exactly we mean by setting boundaries and how to begin to use tools to set ourselves up for success in setting and creating our own boundaries

I have known Michael Raymond for at least 10 years and it’s been a pleasure watching both his professional and personal progress over the years. Micheal has created and developed Raymond Representation, a fabulous talent and sports agency.
And while he is proud of this amazing accomplishment, he will tell you that nothing is more important to him than his health.
For me, it was equally as exciting to sit with him and talk about his journey and hear about how the work we did together has created a permanent shift in his life.
We talk about why prevention should be on the top of everyone’s list. He shares his insights into things that were both challenging and rewarding through this process and much more
This was a great conversation and Michael and I both hope that you listening, especially the younger crowd out there, will walk away with a clearer picture of why you should take your health more seriously.
You are going to find today’s podcast fascinating if not a bit “out there.” That is what I first thought when I was introduced to the teachings and principles behind the Medical Medium, Anthony William. While you might not recognize the name, he is the mastermind behind the celery juice craze that took America by storm many years ago.
Today I got to talk to Dr. Sherri Greene, a restorative medicine practitioner who is a Medical Medium practicing doctor.
If you want to know more about what and who the Medical Medium is, take a listen. More importantly, if you are out there suffering from an illness or serious medical condition, you are going to want to hear what Dr. Sherri has to say about it all.

I just loved my conversation with Dr. Tamy Faireman. Dr. Tamy, a former plastic and reconstructive surgeon for over 25 years now refers to herself as a SOUL surgeon, which could not be more fitting for the work she has become so passionate about.
We had an amazing discussion about mindfulness and what that means and how we go about “getting” there. We talked about so much including how she now supports women in a very different and powerful way.
We hear so much about mindfulness and since the pandemic, the term gets thrown around endlessly. But do you find time to cultivate and explore this? If you are feeling as though you want more out of life, if you feel stuck, if you feel defeated or perhaps out of balance, then you will want to listen to this podcast. In this episode, I dive into that conversation and the things I continue to explore and research to help inspire you to be the best version of you possible.

AROA is my favorite yogurt on the planet. (And no, no-one paid me to say that!)
Take a listen to hear why it’s my favorite, and more importantly, why this yogurt is so good for your health.
Dairy has gotten such a bad rap, and for good reason. Most dairy in this country is so highly processed that I actually label it a ‘non’ food.

It’s all about teamwork at the Brandwein Institute. What does that mean? In this week's podcast, you will hear from our coaches about what it’s like to work with us here at BIN.

Let's face it. Who hasn’t felt lonely? Who hasn’t felt lost at one time or another? Have you been made to feel bad if you even consider asking for help? Do you feel as though you might be viewed as “weak?”
These are just some of the questions that Amanda and I discuss in this podcast. Why are we talking about this? Because we want to make a change. We want to make a difference in people’s lives.
In an effort to bring people back together, to heal, and to create a sense of belonging and support, we have created our Community Facebook Group.

I am so thrilled to introduce this part two of my conversation with Barbara Capp, licensed clinical psychologist with a specialization in disordered eating behaviors.
Today we continue our conversation about disordered eating and take a little bit of a different spin. Our discussion today was focused on the parents.
We talk about how to best include parents into the conversation about eating disorders and how sensitive a topic it truly is. According to Barbara, it there is a spectrum of engagement when it comes to parents and how they handle a child with disordered behavior. The one thing we do know is that it is never just about the food, or controlling how much a child is or is not eating. It’s often about the family dynamic and the role that everyone plays.
This can be a scary and uncomfortable place for so many parents to “live,” yet with the help of a professional Barbara explains that there is success and accomplishment if we can simply start the conversation and make it about connection.
Take a listen! What a great conversation this was!
What an engaging conversation I had with Barbara Capp. As a clinical psychologist of more than 30 years, Barbara gave us such an amazing perspective and insight into the world of disordered eating behaviors.
We covered everything from how these disorders present in the first place to the mental emotional nuances of these conditions. We talk about social media and the current state of anxiety and overwhelm and how it contributes to the perpetuation of these disorders and talk about strategies to help people recognize and address disordered eating behavior.
Colby Kranz and I had such a great time talking that we had to split this one into a two parter!
In the second part of my interview with Colby, health coach and founder of LivingPurely, we focused on the influx of health and nutrition trends, fads, and ‘hacks’ on social media these days, and how to understand exactly what your body needs and why.
Colby Kranz, founder of LivingPurely, is new to the health coaching world. She shared with us her insights about being a millennial in this ever-changing landscape, what that means for her business, and how she has learned to navigate the health and wellness space.
Colby shares her own story, how and what prompted her to get into this work, and the events that happened to her during the pandemic that shifted her thinking about this work.
We covered topics such as how to deal with social media, disordered eating behavior, and how to recognize good advice from bad. We also talk about the work that I do and how there is such a synergy between coach and clinician.
Colby is candid and open and was a pleasure to talk with. I am sure you will enjoy our conversation!

Miscarriage is a difficult process for everyone involved. As a woman, there are a million things that swirl through your head and loss and grief are just the beginning.

Dora is truly an expert when it comes to women’s health and all things related to fertility, and I am sure you’ll love listening to her pearls of wisdom.
In the second part of our deep dive on functional nutrition, I chatted with Amanda Shuh, our Director of First Impressions at The Brandwein Institute for Nutrition & Wellness in more detail about the types of tests we generally use, and how we decide on the right test (and the right time to take it) for each client.
There is so much information out there (and not all of it good) and a lot of it suggests ‘hacks’ or ways to fast track weight loss. But the truth is, it took time for your body to get to the imbalance you feel right now, and it will take time to rebalance things too.
If you’ve ever considered coming in to visit me, or going to any functional nutritionist, then you’ll love this episode.
Enjoy!
What do we do exactly? It’s a question we often get asked!
Are you experiencing pain and frustration and not getting any answers? Do you feel as though you are being let down by the medical system? Are you being given pills and medication just to manage a symptom?
If you said yes to any of these questions, this podcast is a must listen.
So many of you are confused and frustrated about how you feel and just don’t know where to turn to get the right answers. And it’s not all about illness here. My passion is keeping people healthy. If your goal is about elevating your health wellness, this is also for you.
I spoke last year with Dr. Richard Bloomer, the Chair of The Department of Health and Sport Sciences and the Dean of the School of Health Studies at the university of Memphis.
We discussed the benefits of using supplementation in addition to following a well-balanced diet and an active lifestyle. More importantly, we looked at the fact that research shows supplementation isn’t meant to fix those things that are out of balance in our diets.
Take a listen to get the lowdown on what you should be looking for when it comes to supplementing, or not in your own health and wellness plan.
I had such fun talking with Renie Anderson last week on the podcast, and we couldn’t help but continue the conversation and talk about a specific thing I hear a lot in discovery sessions with clients, and follow ups; the release, and then the pull-back of wanting to solve the problem.
Ever wonder how to change the dialogue in your head so that you aren’t focusing on the negative all of the time? So often we move through life with thoughts that keep us from realizing our true potential.
We have dreams, desires and goals, and yet the overwhelming fear of failure prevents us from even trying. If any of this resonates just a little, you are going to want to listen to our insightful podcast with mindset coach Renie Anderson.
Let's face it, raising kids can be challenging. We all want the best for our children, and teaching them how to take care of themselves is an important job for us parents. Speaking from experience, I know what it’s like to get the push back from not only my kids, but from society itself.
Take a listen to this enlightening conversation, as I assure you, it will help ease your mind about how to nourish your kids. It’s really not quite as hard as you may think.
There are few things more frustrating than being told you are “normal” or “fine” when you feel anything but that.
Our very own, Amanda Schuh went through years, many many of them being told she was fine and normal when she knew something was wrong. As a young adult, when she should have been in her prime, she felt as though her body was defeating her.
Unable to function and having to drop out of college, Amanda went on her own healing journey. In this conversation, you will hear from Amanda herself, her frustration with the ”system” and how she finally was able to get some answers.
There are so many misconceptions about weightlifting and resistance training out there — and I hear lots of them every day at the Brandwein Institute. The truth is, resistance training doesn’t have to be miserable, it definitely shouldn’t be causing you pain — and you don’t even need to be doing it in a gym! Listen to part 2 of my interview with our new in-house personal trainer, Jessie Ben Dayan, as we talk about the common myths around weightlifting and working out in general.
Today I had the pleasure of sitting down with our very own certified personal trainer, Jessie Ben Dayan. We had an amazing conversation about the myths and facts surrounding weight lifting, cardio workouts and all things in between. If you are confused about whether or not you should incorporate weights into your routine, or if you are unsure about how to even begin to think about exercise, this is the podcast for you.
Dr. Russinoff trained as a traditional medicine doctor and practiced ER medicine for most of his career. In the last year he has opted for a less traditional role as the medical director at Sollis Health, a concierge-based ER practice with a location in West Palm Beach.

In this second part of my interview with Shari Coltune, we talk about how we handle our emotions and the brain body connection.
We consider how to nourish all of ourselves in an effort to get and stay healthy.
To learn more about Shari, visit her website.
I really enjoyed talking with coach Shari Coltune about our mindset as we work through making positive changes to our habits. We discussed small shifts tin lifestyle changes, and how to address the guilt when things don't change instantly.
Instant gratification is ingrained into our culture, but understanding that things will take time, and putting strategies in place to accept that can really help.
Next week we’ll have the second half of the interview with Shari where we talked about getting in tune with your body and how we as a society deal with disordered eating.
Dave Krasky is a licensed school psychologist, specializing in working with children and adolescents up to the age of 21. For the second part of our conversation, we turned to discussing mental health in children and adolescents, and Dave’s thoughts on how you can best support your own kids. We looked at anxiety in parents and the implications that has for their children, and the types of life skills we should be looking to support our children develop from an early age.
Wow. This conversation was so incredibly dynamic! Dave Krasky is a licensed school psychologist, specializing in working with children and adolescents up to the age of 21. We talk about the rising levels of anxiety plaguing so many young adults and teens; Dave is a longtime colleague and our conversation was honest, real and engaging. Our dialogue touched on so many subjects and particularly those that are very relevant to today’s world.
To learn more about Dave, check out his website.
This is the second part of an interview with my client, David Stout.
Last week I shared the first part, where we discussed David’s story, how he decided to use genomic testing, and how he’s been adding supplements and changing his diet to take the results of his testing into account.
In the second part of the interview, we look at the health situations that impacted David after he started working with the Brandwein Institute for Nutrition and Wellness.
We are continuing our Men’s Health month with an interview with a client, David Stout.
I always enjoy my engaging conversations with those clients who take a deep genuine interest in not only their health but in their desire for longevity.
David shared his journey and the tipping point of what eventually brought him to us. I think so many of you will relate to what he says and will be inspired by his drive to find answers.
We talk about his genomic testing and how that has impacted his health; and he shares how working with us has changed his life for the better.
I am sure you will enjoy listening to his story as much as I enjoyed interviewing him!
This month we have dedicated our focus on men's health. We have noticed that the guys in our lives just don’t pay enough attention to taking care of themselves. My conversation with Dr. Mike Zahalsky definitely highlights this concept and our discussion goes from infertility to andropause and how each impacts a man's wellbeing. Dr Mike shares his experience and knowledge and the strategies that he uses in his practice to help men feel better. Oftentimes men feel like they are alone or that they are the only one suffering from a condition. Dr. Mike talks about how he treats common, but not talked about, concerns such as low testosterone, and the options available.
I'm aware that a lot of the conversations around health often focus on women, and in light of the fact that April is Testicular Cancer Awareness month, I want to devote all of April here at the Rebel Nutritionist to men’s health.
I had the pleasure of talking to two amazing cancer survivors - Jeff Klugerman and Josh Alter. Both battled testicular cancer - one in his teens and one in his forties - and they share their unique stories with us on the podcast.
We talk about diagnosis, treatment, and what steps they have taken in their lives after going through the journey of having testicular cancer.
One of the most common health issues I get asked about are thyroid problems. More and more people have heard of the thyroid, and how it can impact weight, energy levels, and having an increased sensitivity to the cold. But it’s rare to find someone who really knows what the thyroid is and what it does.
That’s why this week I decided to re-release a podcast from last summer, where I delved into the details of this organ and what it means to have a thyroid imbalance. Even in the medical community, there are doctors who misdiagnose or mistreat thyroid conditions.
I am always delighted to share my insights, clarify the role of the thyroid gland, and look at many of the common misconceptions. I think it’s important to understand the lab values associated with properly diagnosing thyroid issues. Only once we understand all of these can we take a deeper dive and assess thyroid imbalances and talk about next steps.
PS: Many of our clients are already having great success with our 30-day Your Way Meal Plan program. It is self-paced or you can add one or two coaching sessions to help boost your success. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Tamsin and can’t wait to have her on the podcast again in the future!
Many of our clients understand that they need to make changes to their lifestyle to meet their health goals, but knowing and doing something about it are two very different things. This week I talked to Tamsin Astor, Chief Habit Officer and author of Force of Habit: Unleash Your Power by Developing Great Habits.
We talked about what habits are and why they are so challenging to change. We also discussed behaviors and how to learn how to make positive changes.
It seems like IV vitamin infusion treatment centers have been popping up around every corner, especially post-pandemic. Many of these “drip bars” often make false promises of a quick fix. That infusions will cure everything from a hangover to all your ills, and perhaps this is why they have gotten a bad rap. Today I am going to speak about the facts and fallacies regarding IV vitamin therapy and why and when I recommend them to my clients. I am delighted to have one of my long-time clients Jackie Cruz join me today for this conversation and we talk about why she has been doing this treatment for some time now.
Jackie talks about her own health journey and shares her perspective on how the IV infusions have helped her. We talk about the importance of not only knowing who to trust but also knowing why you should or should not have an IV.
If you have been wondering about IV infusions and if they are right for you, take a listen. If you are curious about what IV therapies can and cannot do, take a listen. This was a fun and engaging conversation and I am sure it will shed some light on the entire subject for our audience.
Each week at The Brandwein Institute we have a coaches huddle where we connect and discuss our clients’ progress. These meetings are always engaging and inspiring and we often find that talking about someone else’s client gives us ideas to support our own clients.
Take a listen to what we have to say about stagnation and self-sabotaging behaviors and what our coaches do to help get their clients over that hump. This was a passionate and engaging discussion for sure! You aren’t going to want to miss it!

My conversation with Jay Feldman answered many questions about how the coach gets coached! In today’s climate, it seems there is a coach for everything, and not all of them are created equal. Jay Feldman’s unique perspective, both as an executive coach and as a Brandwein client, puts him in the driver’s seat of his health and wellbeing.

There is no doubt that the mind is a powerful machine and that so much of what transpires in our heads has a physical impact on our body.
My conversation today with Laya Seghi further illustrates this point and I was so excited to chat with her about her work in the field of mind body medicine. We talked about everything from the taboos around the idea that what goes on inside our heads actually has physical implications in our bodies, to why it’s so important to acknowledge that this is a real thing.

I was blown away by the interest in last week’s podcast episode with Dr. Bloomer about supplements. This is a topic that lots of people ask me about - family, friends, and most of all, clients.
So I sat down with our Wellness Coordinator, Jill Alter. Jill is an amazing support to me and is also training to become a certified health coach at the Brandwein Institute.

More importantly, we looked at the fact that research shows supplementation isn’t meant to fix those things that are out of balance in our diets.
Take a listen to get the lowdown on what you should be looking for when it comes to supplementing, or not in your own health and wellness plan.

There is so much confusion surrounding it, even those in the medical community misdiagnose thyroid issues all the time. I am looking forward to clarifying the role of the thyroid gland, and looking at many of the common misconceptions. I think it’s also important to understand the lab values associated with properly diagnosing thyroid issues.

Today I talked with the founder of 3x4 Genetics, Yael Joffe.
Our discussion took us from her explaining the basic concepts of genomics and why it is so powerful in helping determine the best ways to manage our health, all the way through the theory of evolution!
But seriously, we talked about why for some people weight loss is a lifelong challenge and for others it comes easily.
More importantly than weight management, we talked about how understanding your individual genomic blueprint can be a key factor in helping to live a healthy long life and how this information can potentially keep you from succumbing to certain health conditions that affected your own family members.

Howie has done it all. From Wall Street to being a serial entrepreneur, to having his own podcast, Howie’s experience in the business world puts him in the unique position of seeing how the cogs of the diet industry work (and don’t work).

Kirsten Florias is one of the amazing health coaches at Brandwein Institute for Nutrition and Wellness, and she works with many of our clients who struggle with disordered eating. Different to having an eating disorder, disordered eating often involves an unhealthy relationship with food, nutrition, body image, and more.
Kirsten and I had a chat recently and delved into the topic in more detail. We looked at strategies to help people overcome this epidemic that affects people of all ages, genders, and cultures.
Kirsten shared so many important points about family dynamics, the language we use when speaking to young people about their relationship with food and their own bodies, and confusion around what disordered eating means.
We talked about how we can help people find the courage and their voice to make the necessary changes to break the habit of disordered eating, and how finding balance in all areas of your life is the true key to success.

Eat well, exercise, rest, drink water, socialize with friends & family and you’re likely to get where you want to go.

I truly hate the culture of diet mentality that exists for most of us today.
I hate it because the mentality is backwards. And it can do such damage to our long-term health.
