How To Use Our Riches For The real Life - 1 Timothy 6:17-19

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

How easy is it to use our riches to make our present life as enjoyable as it can be? Paul, though, believed that it is not right to use earthly riches for such enjoyment. He gave instructions to the rich believers who set their hope in God and not in their riches. This is to show that they really were experiencing eternal life, which is greater than what riches can offer. And they were taking hold of this, by using their riches to do good.

Believers, then, are commanded to do everything not to hoard as much wealth as they can, but to use it to meet the needs of others.

Fight The Good Fight Of The Faith - 1 Timothy 6:11-16

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

How can a believer be faithful to the end when it is so tempting to love the world? In wanting Timothy to be preserved, Paul gave him a holistic admonition. He wanted Timothy to consistently pursue the right things. He wanted him to keep the pursuit of a sanctified life, the faithfulness to the Gospel teaching, and the blamelessness of his testimony in the ministry.

For the Greater Progress Of The Gospel - Philippians 1:12-18

Preached by: Bro. Joseph Moriones

God can use our present circumstances for the advancement of the gospel. Paul wants the Philippians to know that his imprisonment has turned out for the greater progress of the gospel. It has become known to all that his imprisonment is for the cause of Christ. After knowing this, the believers grow their confidence in the Lord and make public proclamation of Christ without fear.

Godliness: a Great Gain (Part 2) - 1 Timothy 6:2B-10

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

On Part 1, the sermon focused on the attributes of a "false teacher", emphasizing their motive to use "godliness" as a means to gain, on how they harness controversy, and their brazen efforts to preach about "faith" leading to material riches. As what Paul writes in 1 Timothy 6:9: "But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction."

With that said, we will now continue with the second part of this sermon series on "Godliness: A Great Gain" (Text: 1 Timothy 6:2B-10), but with focus now on true godliness, as what the title directly communicates, as being the greatest of gains. "But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world." (1 Timothy 6:6-7).

Godliness: A Great Gain (Part 1) - 1 Timothy 6:2B-10

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

Prosperity Gospel teaching is one of the problems, if not the main problem, of today’s Christianity. It is a teaching that makes prosperity the end pursuit. However, in 1 Timothy 6:3-10, Paul argued that the teaching that godliness is a means to gain is inconsistent with the sound teaching that accords with true godliness, that is, godliness with contentment is a great gain.

A Christian Employee: Bound But Free (Part 2) - 1 Timothy 6:1-2a

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

Last week, the sermon, as can be read in 1 Timothy 5:17-18, centered on the care that the Church ought to give to its Elders, in particular attending to their needs in order for them to grow in their excellence in the preaching and teaching of God's Word. In other words, to give Elders their well-deserved honor and trust is biblical and righteous, because the Gospel is fully displayed in doing so.

As continuation, the focus will now be on 1 Timothy 5:19-25, which speaks of how it shall be ensured by the Church that only the truly qualified ones be in the office of Elders. As what Paul instructed Timothy to do to Elders who "persist in sin": "...rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear." (1 Timothy 5:20).

A Christian Employee: Bound But Free - 1 Timothy 6:1-2

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

How can a Christian employee live out his freedom in Christ when it comes to work? Paul knew that these Christian slaves were bound to their masters - a thing that can easily make any slave, Christian or not, feel trapped, enslaved, and left without a choice. Under normal circumstances, the solution is to be free from slavery. It might be the only way in the mind of a slave to be truly free. However, Christianity’s freedom is a radically different freedom. Paul expected these slaves to exercise their Christian freedom by working to honor God, reflected in how they honor their masters and be of good service to them.

Partnership In The Gospel - Philippians 1:3-11

Preached by: Bro. Joseph Moriones

Every believer has been given the opportunity to participate in preaching Christ and proclaiming the gospel. So as partakers of God’s grace, we need to have partnerships in doing the work of the gospel. Even the Apostle Paul cannot do it alone, for he needed the help and participation of the believers in Philippi in terms of both prayer and overall involvement to advance the gospel. But above all kinds of help that he received, he needed the help that comes from God to complete the work of the gospel. Thus, we trust wholly “that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ (v.6).”

Gospel-Shaped Care For Faithful Elders (Part 3) - 1 Timothy 5:17-25

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

Last time, the sermon on the Gospel-Shaped Care for Faithful Elders focused on the well-deserved trust of the church on them when they are charged or are accused of something, because it ought not to be assumed as true unless a case is properly built up or established well. Specifically, this is emphasized in 1 Timothy 5:19: "Do not admit a charge against an elder except on the evidence of two or three witnesses."

Now, as we continue with this topic, may we soak in 1 Timothy 5:20-25, and know of, and absorb further, Paul's instructions for the Ephesian church, in particular on the rebuking of leaders who are in sin. So come and join us tomorrow, 9:45 am, at Zaragoza Events Place, Pateros, and learn of carrying this out responsibly and faithfully as a church "without prejudging, doing nothing from partiality" (1 Timothy 5:21).

Do You Understand That The Christ Should Die And Rise? - Luke 24

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

Why most filipinos do not find Jesus as their hope despite knowing his death and resurrection? Luke, who sought to prove that Jesus is the Son of Man, reserved the death and resurrection of Jesus as the greatest proofs of his claim. However, unless the disciples of Jesus will understand what the scripture says about the death and resurrection of Christ, it will remain to be an idle tale for them. In His love for them, Jesus taught and opened their minds to scripture, removing their grief and replacing it with hope-founded joy.

Gospel-Shaped Care For Faithful Elders (Part 1) - 1 Timothy 5:17-25

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

Some Pastors fail to give their best because they still have to take care of their needs instead of being released to fully take care of the Church. Desiring that the Elders who faithfully ruled to continue giving themselves to take care of the flock, Paul admonished Timothy to make sure that the Church will accord the elders their well-deserved financial support and trust (1 Timothy 5:17-19). However, he also wanted Timothy to make sure that only qualified elders will be in the office of the Elders (1 Timothy 5:20-25).

A Gospel-Shaped Care For Qualified Dependents - 1 Timothy 5:3-16

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

How should the Church honor those who are totally devoted to God but have no means for living? Because of their social norm, widows were relying on family members, or in case of those who have no relatives at all, then, other people. This apparent presence of the widows in most churches prompted Paul to give a guideline on who to consider as truly widows. In 1 Timothy 5:13-16, Paul somehow obliged the Church to help widows who are totally dependent on the provision of God, yes, but they should also be truly devoted to serving God.

Pastoral Care And Showing Honor - 1 Timothy 5:1-2

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

One of the most delicate things that Elders in the church need to learn is how to use their God-given authority. In 1 Timothy 5:1-2, Paul might still have been thinking of dealing with the false teachings in the Church when he admonished Timothy on how to approach different kinds of people in it. From this passage, we will learn that maintaining the respect that a person is due is necessary if the exercise of pastoral duties should result in edification.

The Life And Teaching Of The Good Servant - 1 Timothy 4:11-16

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

How important is the life and teaching of the Pastor, not only for their own preservation, but for the whole Church?

Having known the false teachings that infiltrated the Church, Paul knew that the believers in Ephesus were exposed to a big danger. In the event that the Church is no longer holding the pure gospel of Christ, it could mean their eternal damnation. Paul, who knew the crucial role of Timothy, being the Pastor the Church, commanded him to faithfully preach and live out the truth for it will preserve not only his life, but the life of the whole Church (1 Timothy 4:11-16).

Let us endeavor to know the crucial role of the life and preaching of the Pastor for the preservation of the Church.

God's Love Made Manifest - 1 John 4:7-12Preached by: Bro. Joseph Moriones

The Pursuit Of The Good Servant - 1 Timothy 4:7-10

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

Worldly philosophies are surely inviting, that even Christians, at times, find themselves in pursuit of them. However, Paul convinced Timothy to pursue godliness instead (v. 7b), because it is a better and more worthwhile pursuit. He argued that the promise it holds both for the present and the life to come is sure (v. 8), and the completion of this pursuit is certain (v. 10).

The Importance Of Theology In The Work Of A Good Servant - 1 Timothy 4:1-6

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

The ever-decreasing value of theology in most churches puts them in a dire situation. Perceiving that heresies will grow from bad to worse, Paul exhorted Timothy, as one who has been trained in the Gospel, to expose the Ephesian heresies by bringing these teachings under the truths of the Gospel. Contrary to the thinking of most people that the Church does not need much theology, for Paul, a good servant of the Gospel, is equipped to battle every heresy when he is theologically astute.

Do you want to know what a good servant of Christ is? Be a good servant of Christ.

The Gospel-Exalting Qualifications For Deacons (Part 2) - 1 Timothy 3:8-13

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

In the preaching of God's Word last week, much emphasis was placed on the Gospel-exalting qualifications of church deacons, namely being mature in the faith as manifesting in the dignity with which one carries out the functions of his office, as well as having a strong faith and being proven blameless time and again (1 Timothy 3:8-10). Deacons who have served well, as was communicated in the sermon, are those who have a good and well-rounded testimony of their faith in the Gospel to the church and their community, holding its clear truths with an equally clear conscience.

To listen to the continuation of the sermon on the Gospel-exalting qualifications of deacons (1 Timothy 3:11-13), be edified as to the unshakeable confidence in the faith that they ought to possess, as can only be possible in Christ Jesus.

The Gospel-Exalting Qualifications For Deacons (Part 1) - 1 Timothy 3:8-13

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

“What qualification do you need if you just want to serve?” This is a question often said to point that one does not need much to serve. There is more danger in it though than the grain of truth that it might contain.

While deacons hold an office, they are basically servants. Yet when it comes to their faith and character, Paul basically held them to that same standard of faith and character of the Elders. He considered deacons who have a good and well-rounded testimony of their faith in the Gospel to the church and their community as deacons who have served well.

Do you want to know the deacons who truly served well? Become a good servant with us as we seek to learn the qualifications of deacons in our study of 1 Timothy 3:8-13.

We Will Know That It Is The Lord - John 21:1-14

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

If writers have a writer’s block when they could not do what they are supposed to do - writing, Gospel workers could have those dark times too when they simply do not want to testify of Christ.

Though Jesus already appeared twice after His resurrection, the disciples of Jesus who were gripped with sadness that Jesus would no longer be with them physically, thought of doing another work instead of testifying of Christ. However, Jesus came to them in an unmistakably clear way and intimated with them, that they might be refreshed and be at work to testify that He truly is the Christ.

Be strengthened with us tomorrow at 9:45am as we learn from John 21:1-14 on how the presence of Christ strengthened and kept His disciples from leaving the work of the Gospel.

The Gospel-Exalting Qualifications For Eldership (Part 8) - 1 Timothy 3:1-7

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

Maturity can really be tricky. It is easy to say that a person is mature because he manifested other qualifications of an Elder. But unless this is proven true for a period of time and outside the faith community, it cannot be said to be a marker of biblical maturity.

Knowing full well the damage into the name of Christ and the credibility of the Church if an Elder’s testimony would be destroyed, Paul gave two more qualifications of an Elder (1 Timothy 3:6-7) where most unqualified ordained Elders may still have to prove themselves and by making sure, to keep them from being vulnerable to Satan’s destructive schemes. He wanted Timothy to make sure that he will only ordain aspiring Elders who have proven time-tested and community-attested maturity.

Learn with us and be persuaded that it cannot be said that one is ready for Eldership unless his testimony is proven by time and the community.

Members Not Strangers - Ephesians 2:11-22

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

One of the hindrances to unity is a failure to give equal rights and privileges to everyone. In the book of Ephesians, Paul is driving home the point that the Church should be united as she is the present masterpiece of God which points to the plan of cosmic and eschatological unity. In Ephesians 2:11-12, he labored to make these Gentile believers understand that despite how spiritually lost and hopeless they were then, God made them members of His household through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ to lay down the foundation of the unity of the Church.

What is the spiritual status of every believer in the household of God? Discover how every believer is a member and not a stranger in God’s household as we study Ephesians 2:11-12.

The Great Grace Of God - Jonah 3:1-10

Preached by: Bro. Joseph Moriones

Jonah has been given a second chance to obey the Lord's command to call out the wickedness of Nineveh. Upon hearing the great message from God, the people believed, called out mightily to Him, and turned away from their evil ways. The great grace of God was displayed, "When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it." (Jonah 3:10).

Jonah 3:1-10 demonstrates the great grace of God exceedingly by reaching out to us through a message that would cause us to respond in repentance and to mightily call upon Him.

Have you ever thought of how great the grace of God is? Join us as we study the great grace of God.

A Covenant Community Commended To The Grace Of God - Acts 14:21-28

Preached by: Ptr. Japhet Flanco

Paul’s first missionary journey accompanied by Barnabas was about to conclude with an inspiring Gentile reception heading back to their sending church until persecution turned things around. So instead of going back safely home, they revisited their planted churches to ensure their proper care and maturity in the faith in the midst of suffering. And as they finally returned, “they had been commended to the grace of God for the work that they had fulfilled” (Acts 14:26).

Acts 14:21-28 teaches us a lesson about being a covenant community that testifies of the grace of God being truly at work in us by caring deeply for the lives of each one in the Lord, as shaped by the cross.

Learn more about how a God-exalting church magnifies the grace of God in their cross-shaped covenant commitment to care for one another.

From The Pulpit To The Homes - Acts 20:17-31

Preached by: Ptr. Chris Juloya

"Sunday Christian." This is a term thrown around to refer to any professing Christians who only limit their engagement with their church community to Sundays. In their view, the church is a place one goes to only once a week, the same way how one goes to work 9:00-5:00 then clocks out at 5:01. What makes this an even much larger issue is the fact that some pastors and church leaders also think this exact same way: Christianity as steeped in single-serving, one-and-done transactions.

But Christianity is very much relational, not transactional, and it does not just begin and end on the pulpit. Paul, in Acts 20:20, speaking to the elders in Ephesus, said: “I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public and from house to house.”

Learn about extending the active shepherding of the flock, "to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood" (Acts 20:28), outside the church building, off the pulpit, and into believers' homes.

The Gospel-Exalting Qualification For Eldership (Part 7) - 1 Timothy 3:1-7

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

A father can either be passive in his home or active in things he need to attend to yet have a wrong concept of leadership. In most cases, this might be left uncorrected because rightly leading the house is not given the importance that it ought to receive.

Paul, however, said that unless a man knows how to manage his own household well, he should be disqualified from the eldership. We will learn from 1 Timothy 3:4-5 that it is in their homes that qualified leaders learn how to lead wisely and sacrificially.

Do you want to know why leadership is best learned at home? Let us study the significance of the qualification of an Elder in being a good household manager.

Three Ways Of Fearing The Lord - Jonah 1:7-16

Preached by: Ptr. James Bryner Chu

"The fear of the Lord," as is written in both Psalm 111:10 and Proverbs 9:10, "is the beginning of wisdom." "Fear", these two verses imply, is central to the Christian's life of true faith and obedience. But what, exactly, does this "fear" mean?

There is a kind of fear rooted in terror and a sense of dread, but yet another that is premised on reverence and awe. John Murray writes: "There is the dread or terror of the Lord and there is the fear of reverential awe. There is the fear that consists in being afraid; it elicits anguish and terror. There is the fear of reverence; it elicits confidence and love."

"Fear", as a word, can mean a great many things, but only one of them applies most truly when it comes to the "fear" of the Lord.

Learn about how fearing the Lord in the truest sense leads to saving faith.

Our Living Hope Is Christ - 1 Peter 1:3-9

Preached by: Ptr. John Hofileña

What made the difference? Why have we even become better when we deal with challenges? Would it not have been better if we just give up? What kept us? What preserved us? What have made us better despite everything? “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…” This, right here, is what made the difference!

Because God has made us His own, the things that are supposed to make us weary, the difficulties and challenges of life, instead only further purify our faith that it may be proven genuine and be found to result in praises and glory for the name of Christ. God has created troubles in life as the vehicle to bring us into a deeper and more intimate relationship with Christ so that we love Him and rejoice in Him though we do not see Him. Could this be our own doing? The answer, of course, is a resounding “NO!” Truth be told, we are too futile to love God amidst our difficulties.

So, the question now is: Why then do we get to grow in our faith despite hardships? This is because God has caused us to be born again to a living hope; the hope of becoming more like Christ, the hope of full redemption. There is no other explanation. “God has Grown us in the Glory of our Living Hope.”

The Gospel-Exalting Qualifications For Eldership (Part 6) - 1 Timothy 3:1-7

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

An Elder could not be controlled by alcohol, leading to violence and being quarrelsome, or money. In light of 1 Timothy 3:8, if anyone should be dignified (respectable), there are things that should not be true of him. Yes, he should learn to do the things that God called him, but he should also learn how to say no to things that he should not have anything to do with. While the positive virtues that they should develop make them respectable, there are things that will make them unworthy of respect. It will be counterproductive. These are the things that would render whatever virtues they might have built to be worthless. So, yes, there are things that an Elder should be known for, but there are also things that they should never be known for. As important that an aspiring Elder should make every effort to develop the positive virtues, he should also guard himself from being controlled by any thing that makes him ill-fitted for Eldership.

Let us look into the pitfalls that any aspiring Elder should be avoiding.

The Gospel-Exalting Qualifications For Eldership (Part 5) - 1 Timothy 3:1-7

Preached by: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

The great Charles Haddon Spurgeon captured the irony of the Church when he said: “If I had never joined a church till I had found one that was perfect, I should never have joined one at all; and the moment I did join it, if I had found one, I should have spoiled it, for it would not have been a perfect church after I had become a member of it. Still, imperfect as it is, it is the dearest place on earth to us.” But while we understand that the Church will always have problems, still, we need to know the root of many of these problems.

Knowing the centrality of the Word to the life of the Church, Paul knew that the ability of Elders to teach it is of paramount importance. Elsewhere, he said that a preacher should be approved by God, “rightly handing the word of truth,” or else all sorts of problems would arise. Majority of the qualifications into becoming an elder are character-based, but there's one that is more a "gift": that is, the ability to teach. But an aspiring elder should not just be able to communicate to qualify as someone who can teach; he also should be one who has been brought deeper into, and transformed by, the Word, thus making him fully able indeed to do so.

Do you want to have a well-rounded understanding of an Elder’s ability to teach? Let us seek to understand the life, and the equipping of, an able teacher of God’s Word.

Our God, Our Strength, Our Good - Psalm 73:21-28

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

The psalmist, drawing from what he experienced from God when he was weak, had a renewed perspective of God as his treasure (God) v. 25, Strength (v. 26), and Good (v. 28).  He saw God as his everything.

Join us as we too, like the psalmist, banner the truths of “Our God, Our Strength, Our Good” as we look back on, celebrate, and praise the Lord for our first church anniversary.

The goal of every believer is to become like Christ. To become like Christ is to be like Him in His crucifixion and resurrection, His story, and His life in approaching the cross, which we call, the Cruciform Life. But what does it mean to have a body of believers that is pursuing the Cruciform Life?

In this special anniversary episode of The Cruciform Life Church Podcast, let's hear from our pastors discussing about, “Envisioning a Cruciform Life Church.”

Into the Glorious Christ - 2 Corinthians 3:1-18

By: Ptr. Japhet Flanco

In defense of his divine appointment as an apostle and his ministry, Paul initially addressed a group of Jews in Corinth on the greater glory of the new covenant. It is only through Christ by the Holy Spirit that an ever-increasing transformation shall take place in every believer and in the community of believers. The effectiveness of our service to each one is not validated by our mere systems and audacious efforts but by the constant desire of each one for the glory of Christ transformed by the Spirit.

No Other Escape But By His Mercy - Genesis 19

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

“I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.”  (Exodus 33:19)  Among all the truths that we can infer from this passage, the independence of God is one of His clearest communicated attributes. While countless questions have been raised on God’s independence in showing mercy, this is the one assurance that despite their own sinfulness, believers are assured of their salvation. Lot’s character in the book of Genesis is rather conflicting.  On one end, he was different from Sodom.  On the other end, he did not just display some characteristics of Sodom but an attachment to it.  However, what secured his salvation, as opposed to the rest of his family, was God’s Sovereign choice to show him mercy.

Join us as we set the record straight on Lot’s and our salvation in our study of Genesis 19.

The Role of Intercession in God's Redemptive Plan - Genesis 18:16-33

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

The Pandemic has shaped the focus of people. Some are redeeming their supposed time for family. Others have all the more devoted themselves to work as though they might have a little time left to achieve their goals. Depending on what became important to them because of the pandemic, some saved up while others actually spent more. What does the Pandemic insist on if we look at it from the lens of scripture? Well, we could name a few, but one thing for sure is that it reminds us of the coming final judgment of God. If it further pressed to us that judgment is coming, how should it shape us Christians? What is it that we should find ourselves doing? In Genesis 18:16-33, Abraham was informed by God about what He intended to do with Sodom. As soon as Abraham learned about it, he interceded for the salvation of the city for the sake of the righteous. He invoked the justice of God as he pressed his case more and more before God. In the end, he was assured by God that He will only do what is just.

Join us as we learn about the role of the Mediator in the redemptive work of God and how to intercede before God as we study Genesis 18:16-33.

When God Makes Promises - Genesis 17:1-18:15

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

“Think outside the box.” How often do innovative companies say this line? Every day might even be an underestimation - it would most likely be every hour or even every minute. They may not say it out loud, but it is continually playing in their minds. But while everyone reminds themselves of this all the time, the few innovations are shouting out loud that only a few really do this. The one place where we can see how difficult it is to think outside the box is the study of God. While we know that God is beyond comprehension, people always end up with a God that they can comprehend and not beyond that. Genesis 17-18:15 is a story of how Abraham and Sarah could only laugh at the thought of God giving them a son at an age where people could either be preparing for death or have died already. Yet when God makes promises, He fulfills it through the most impossible of situations to display His greatness. As the Lord, Himself said, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14) Far from being boring, the journey of faith is filled with surprises – things outside the box.

Join us as we study and see how Abraham went from worshiping to questioning to obeying and then end up arguing with Sarah, all because they could not put God in a box.

Consistent Pursuit of Christ - Philippians 1:12-26

By: Ptr. Jonard Hermosa

Paul wrote the book of Philippians at a time of dire circumstances. With imperial guards being mentioned in this epistle, the context suggests that it was written at the time of his imprisonment. But despite what would appear to be unfortunate circumstances, we read of Paul saying that what had happened to him served to advance the gospel. Paul tells the Philippians that through all this, Christ is proclaimed and displayed through his life. Here we see that the pursuit of Christ is made manifest by a life lived for Christ, but that life lived for Christ can only be the outcome of a genuine and deep understanding of the gospel. Join us, as we learn more about the consistent pursuit of Christ.

When We Make Our Own Way - Genesis 16

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

“What is wrong with what I did?” We all have probably said this statement countless times already. We do not see any problem with what we did because everyone does it anyway. Abraham and Sarah were already old yet still bore no son, so Sarah thought of making what any couple would do to remedy their problem of childlessness - bear a son through their servant. Everything that happened next was truly regrettable when God proved that He saw and cared for Abraham’s problem. Abraham’s own way only became a picture of the difference between man’s work and God’s promise. "Why shouldn't we do things our way?". Let us learn as we study Genesis 16.

When God Conquers Our Fears - Genesis 15

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

As we continue to advance in years, we are confronted with the reality that our dreams might not become a reality. The hardest part is to accept that many of our dreams will not be fulfilled. If this is true with our dreams, will this also be true with God’s promises? As days turned into months and years, Abraham still did not have a son. Like any human being, Abraham feared that he might not have one. However, in Genesis 15, God assured him of not only one but many, for it was not simply a desire of Abraham but a promise of God. In fact, God assured him that there was no way that any of His promises would fail. As we are like Abraham, let us learn how God will conquer our fears as we study Genesis 15.

The Guarantor and the Promises of God - Genesis 14

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

How do we respond to life’s challenges?  Do we need to face them or instinctively just run from them?  While we may never want challenges in life, running from them might forfeit us of some of life’s most wonderful blessings.   After learning of the capture of his nephew, Lot, Abraham acted in faith, fought with kings, restored possessions, and rescued Lot. All of a sudden, Abraham was beginning to rise in power in the land of Canaan as a partial fulfillment of God’s promises. The climax of the narrative was not the victory itself though, but Abraham’s meeting with Melchizedek.  Far from what appeared to be an insertion into the narrative of Genesis, our study of Genesis 14 will excite us about how God will use life’s situations not only to bring us deeper into His promises but also point us to the guarantor of all His promises, the Lord Jesus Christ.

When We Choose to Trust God and His Promises - Genesis 13:2-18

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

Opportunities for a better life are hard to resist. We often automatically see it as the “Will of God” for us. Imprudently, we run after them.  But how many Christians are spending their lives enjoying these things and yet do not have any regard anymore about serving the Lord? What do we need to consider before jumping into these opportunities?  Learning his lesson from the famine, Abraham went from willfully deciding to leave the promised land to passively entrusting his decision to the hand of the Lord. In Genesis 13:2-18, Abraham exhibited the kind of trust needed to keep ourselves in the Will of God. He did not trust his eyes like Lot. He waited for God to show him what he needs to see and he simply responded in obedience and worship to what God showed him. This is the same trust we need today when opportunities try to swerve us from God’s Redemptive Plan.

Join us, as we learn about how our trust in God and His promises will keep us in the redemptive plan of God from our study of Genesis 13:2-18 together.

Exiles in our Own World - Jeremiah 29:1-14

By: Ptr. Japhet Flanco

In Jeremiah 29, we read of Jeremiah’s letter to the exiles. In this setting, the Lord executed His first blow of judgment to Judah when significant people were taken as captives to Babylon. Though it was unthinkable for Judah to stay and live as enslaved foreigners, the Lord would fulfill His promise to bring redemption to His covenant people by restoring them to Himself and renewing all things.  In this passage, we will see God’s instruction to His people that would cause them to thrive, even as exiles: bloom where you are planted, strive for the greater good of society, and submit to the wisdom of God’s judgment. More so, we will see how God gives them reason to hope by affirming His love for them and the fulfillment of His promises to them.

Join us, as we learn more about how we, exiles in our own world, are called to faithfully pursue the calling of God as we live in this fallen world and wait for the consummation of His promises to restore all things to glory.

Leave or Believe? - Genesis 12:10-20

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

With the presence of COVID-19, we saw how many Christians dropped their commitment to the work of the Lord in pursuit of security. The argument for this is quite compelling as who would not prioritize the security of one’s family? But this question lingers in our hearts, “Do life-threatening situations call us to leave everything for our security, or do life-threatening situations call us to have faith in God?”  In Genesis 12:10-19, we will learn that the famine which hit the land of Canaan called Abraham to believe in God, trust His Word, and stay in the land, instead of leaving for better security.  In His Sovereignty, God turned Abraham’s security plan for his family around and brought him back to the land of promise where He would fulfill His promises to him.

Join us, as we learn about the futility of our self-preservation plan and how God would always bring us back to His Redemptive Plan where our lives are truly preserved.

God's Redemptive Plan - Genesis 11:10-12:9

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

In Genesis 11, we read of Shem’s descendants from one generation to the next, until the mention of Abram. When the Lord called Abram, He commanded him to leave his country, his kindred, and his father’s house, and to go to the land that the Lord would show him. The Lord promised Abram that He would make of him a great nation, that He would bless him and make his name great, and that in him all the families of the earth would be blessed. On the Lord’s word, Abram, together with his family and everything they had, went on a journey to the land of promise. When they came to the land of Canaan, the Lord appeared to Abram and promised to give this land to his offspring. And as a response, Abram builds an altar and calls upon the name of the Lord. Abram then continues to journey on.  In this narrative, we see how God’s sovereignty shines through in His election and His covenant, all to fulfill His grand redemptive plan. More so, we see the response of a faithful covenant partner who acts in obedience and worship.

Join us, as we learn more about God’s redemptive plan and how this plan was sovereignly accomplished through His faithful Son, Jesus Christ.

God's Sovereignty Over Man's Depravity - Genesis 10-11:9

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

Man has continually advanced in technological progress. Many times it has left a lot of us wondering if there are still things that man cannot do. Well, this is not a problem in itself. In fact, it is even a display of how great God created man. Thus, in some ways, it is glorying God. However, the problem is the heart of man. From the beginning, man has sought to advance in technology to be independent of God (Genesis 4:17-22, Genesis 10:8-12, Genesis 11:3-4). He always sought to prove that he can live without God, or more accurately, that he can be god. With the advancement that man had accomplished, should this pose a threat to the plan of God? Is it possible that man could eventually frustrate God’s plan? In chapter 10, we see the record of the dispersed nations. While we know that this happened because God judged their attempt to disobey His command to “fill the earth,” this also set history towards the fulfillment of the plan of God. And the fashion by which God did this in the story of the Tower of Babel found in Genesis 11:1-9, makes us understand that the strongest of men could easily be reversed by God to the frustration of man’s plan and the fulfillment of His plan. Man’s attempt to prove themselves equal, if not greater than God, only becomes a display of how God’s sovereignty prevails in accomplishing His beautiful plan to be worshiped by all nations despite man’s sinfulness.

Listen in and learn about how God dispersed man and laid the groundwork for His plan to have a people for Himself from all nations.

God's Love for Life - Genesis 9:1-29

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

In Genesis 9, we read of God blessing Noah and his sons and telling them to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. He gives them all they need to live, promises that all flesh shall never again be cut off by the waters of the flood, and gives them a sign of this covenant - the rainbow - which, when displayed, is for the remembrance of this covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh. Here we see how God preserves life, how God covenanted to preserve life, and how God’s lovingkindness is displayed in the eternal preservation of life.

Redemption Through Judgment - Genesis 6:9-8:22

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

In Genesis 6-8, we read of the story of Noah and the flood. After seeing the increasing corruption of man, God had purposed to blot out man and animals, for He was sorry He created them. But Noah, finding favor in the eyes of the Lord, was spared from the flood that would blot out everything. After the flood had subsided, God established a covenant with him, saying that He will never again curse the ground because of man and never again strike down every living creature as He had done. Here we see that God will eventually pour out the fullness of His judgment for the fulfillment of the Redemption that He promised to His covenant people.

The Greatness of God's Grace - Genesis 6:1-8

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

In Genesis 6, we read of the increasing corruption of earth. The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great and it grieved Him to His heart. In His holy wrath, He had purposed to blot out man whom He created, for He was sorry that He created them. But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. Here we see that God’s grace will keep His chosen ones despite His consuming wrath for man’s sins.

The People Whom God Cares - Genesis 5

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

In Genesis 5, we read of Adam’s descendants to Noah. The man who God created first in His likeness bore an offspring, Seth, whose line would call upon the name of the Lord. Here we see the characteristics that define the people whom God cares for: (1) their focus on God’s redemption and (2) their radically different life which is manifested in how they seek to glorify God, how they enjoy the fullness of life, how they walk closely with God, and how they believe the redemption of God.

Join us, as we learn more about how the people whom God cares for will be distinguished by their focus on God’s redemption, instead of the world, resulting to a radically different life.

Man Cared Not For God At All - Genesis 4

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

In Genesis 4, we read of the story of two brothers, Cain and Abel. In the course of time, the two brought an offering to the Lord which they had labored for. The Lord regarded Abel and his offering, but not so for Cain. In Cain’s anger, he killed his brother and turned away from the Lord. For his sins, God commanded his judgment. Yet even despite this, God’s redemptive plan is made manifest as he appoints for Adam and Eve another offspring instead of Abel, Seth, in whose time the people began to call upon the name of the Lord. Here we come to understand two things: (1) Man’s controlling sinfulness cares not for God but for himself only, and (2) God’s Sovereign Election kept man’s sinfulness from compromising His redemptive plan.

Join us, as we learn more about how our sinfulness should make us understand that we would never have loved God if He did not sovereignly choose us.

The Need to Gather Even in Dangerous Times  - Hebrews 10:24-25

In the book of Hebrews, we are admonished to stir up one another to love and good works - not neglecting to meet together, but encouraging one another, all the more as we see the Day drawing near. In this passage, we see how important it is to gather together not just under normal conditions, but even in dangerous times. This is because we cannot stop living for Christ and because physical gathering is vital to living for Christ. The Genesis of Redemption - Genesis 3:14-15

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

In Genesis 3:14-15, we read of our holy God passing a just sentence for the serpent and proclaiming a glorious redemption to come for His people. For what the serpent had done, God had cursed him above all livestock and beasts of the field and God had made him go on his belly and eat of dust all the days of his life. For his people, a gracious promise of redemption in Christ is given. God put enmity between the serpent and the woman and between his offspring and her offspring. God said that the woman’s offspring would bruise the serpent’s head and he would bruise the offspring’s heel. Here we see two things: (1) God’s sovereignty in redemption, and (2) God’s redemption of life in death.

The Fall - Genesis 3:1-24

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

The Covenant Goodness of God - Genesis 2:4-25

By: Ptr. Enteng Ramoneda

In Genesis 2:4-25, we read of the creation of man and woman. God Himself formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into man’s nostrils the breath of life. God Himself planted a garden in Eden and there He put the man He had formed so that the man could work it and keep it. And when God saw that it was not good for man to be alone, God Himself made a helper that would be fit for him: the woman. Here we see how good God is as a covenant God: God gave life to man, God gave man a heavenly place, God covenanted Himself with man, and God continually looked out for man’s good.
