Welcome to our guest interview for May’s theme of “How to let more love into your life”! In this episode, I am interviewing Dr. Jonathan Marion, who believes that when we LIVE, CONNECT & COMMUNICATE authentically, we send out ripples…. which send out ripples… which make the world a more caring and connected place, one ripple at a time.
Having seen this dynamic over 20+ years as an award-winning cultural anthropology professor and author, Jonathan feels that how we show up is the key to living deeply meaningful and fulfilling lives. As a coach, consultant, and speaker, Jonathan draws on decades of experience teaching diverse audiences and is trained in Emotional Intelligence, Group Coaching, Positive Psychology Coaching, Clear Beliefs Coaching, and Somatic Coaching. Jonathan is passionate about supporting clients and audiences in transcending external accomplishments as measures of success to live truly aligned, rewarding, and meaningful lives.
In this episode, Dr. Marion introduces the BEING framework, which stands for Begin where you are, Explore where you want to go, Investigate how you want to get there, Now start, and Get your best life. He explains that by starting with how you want to be and envisioning your ideal future, you can navigate the path towards authentic connections and a fulfilling life. Dr. Jonathan S. Marion discusses the importance of shifting from 'should' to 'could' in our thinking and actions, and how this shift can lead to more authentic connections in relationships. He emphasizes the need to acknowledge and accept what is happening in our lives, rather than fighting against it. Dr. Marion also explores the impact of cultural narratives on our beliefs and expectations in relationships, and the importance of understanding and respecting different cultural perspectives. He provides a framework for building authentic connections, focusing on understanding the role of being authentic with ourselves to be authentic with others.

Welcome to the 3rd listener monthly Q&A on The Commitment to Growth Podcast! In this insightful episode, we're sending off the "Healing the Inner People Pleaser" monthly theme by diving deep into the intricate world of people-pleasing through a curated Q&A session fueled by questions from our engaged listeners. We delve into the nuanced layers of this pervasive behaviour, providing practical insights, empathetic understanding, and empowering solutions.
We address the familiar tug-of-war between self-assertion and self-abandonment that plagues long-time people-pleasers. Listeners are guided through the complex psychology behind this phenomenon, exploring the roots of seeking validation through sacrificing authenticity. Listeners are treated to a rich tapestry of inquiries ranging from setting boundaries while battling the fear of appearing rude to differentiating between people-pleasing and narcissism. We chat about how to embrace vulnerability as a catalyst for growth, fostering honest dialogues that pave the way for authentic connections. Practical strategies for content creators grappling with people-pleasing tendencies in the digital realm are also unpacked, shedding light on the importance of staying true to one's voice amidst the noise of algorithms and trends. The episode culminates in an exploration of unattachment as a transformative practice for people-pleasers, urging listeners to redefine their worth beyond external validation.
Through poignant anecdotes, relatable insights, and actionable advice, this Q&A episode serves as a beacon of hope for those navigating the labyrinth of people-pleasing in their personal and professional lives.

Takeaways:
* Setting boundaries can be scary for chronic people-pleasers, but gathering evidence that the right people will receive our authentic truth can help deepen relationships.
* There is a difference between people-pleasing and narcissism. People pleasers operate from a fear of losing love, while narcissists have an exaggerated sense of self-importance.
* Content creators who are people pleasers should practice showing up authentically on social media and not be attached to the response or validation of others.
* Unattachment is important in healing the inner people pleaser. It means not tying our worth to the responses of others and standing in our authenticity regardless of how we are received.
* Being unattached allows us to feel safe in our relationships, reduces stress levels, and opens us up to more love and acceptance.
* It's important to be okay with not being liked by everyone and to be willing to be disliked. The people who truly love and resonate with us will be drawn to our authenticity.

I am thrilled to sit down with you for this insightful and deeply stimulating conversation with none other than my own godmother, Martha Ezeta! We are talking all things physical healing through emotional and spiritual healing FIRST through the perspective of Teos, the medicine that she has been practicing for years. We discuss the effects of mindset and trauma on the body, how these impacts manifest as physical ailments, and how to take our health back. We also discuss DEATH, and how our relationship to this aspect of our reality can enhance our experience of the now. Buckle in for this fascinating conversation -- you'll want to make sure you're writing stuff down!

This week's episode is a juicyyyy chat with Kelsey Moss! Kelsey is in the final stages of her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and is the Owner of KMOSSYOGA. With a background in concussion research, mental health, and neurophysiology, Kelsey bridges the gap between modern neuroscience and yoga by teaching the mechanisms through which mindfulness changes the brain. As a 200-RYT, she is a firm believer in prioritizing mental and physical wellbeing for improving ourselves, communities, and corporations. After suffering from debilitating anxiety for years, Kelsey turned to mindfulness and yoga, and experienced first-hand the benefits studied in the scientific literature. Drawing on her education and experience in psychology and mental health, combined with a relentless drive to connect with and help others, she created Neuro-Informed Yoga and Mindfulness (NIYM). Through workshops, group programs, and public speaking engagements, NIYM is an approach to wellness designed to educate and teach people how to live a more peaceful, informed, and meaningful life with ease.

From serious doubts about the career I've been pursuing for 10 years, to full-blown canceling the plans that I was planning to take this summer to pursue that dream, 2023 has been a series of plate-fulls of doubts, questions, and disappointing realizations. However necessary, these times can come with a lot of anxiety and uncertainty. In this episode, I'm outlining 3 things that I am practicing consistently to spend more time in my heart rather than my head to carve a new path from the inside out. I hope this helps you if you are at standstill in life at the moment, whatever it may be. <3

Emily-Jane’s mission is to show entrepreneurs that the possibilities of what they can achieve in life are truly limitless and that the only thing that is stopping them from getting from where they are now to where they want to be, is their mindset & skillset (both of which you have the power to shift). To grow we must move forward, but to move forward we must also look back at our past to reflect on what got us to our present. In this episode, I'm walking you through the 5 gifts I took away from 2022 and am taking with me into 2022 to live this year with more awareness, more joy, more love, more purpose, and more confidence. I am BEYOND excited to bring you this episode with my 2 best friends and fellow Kinesiology students, Amy Smith and Emma Skaug! Amy is a competitive powerlifter and aspiring Strength and Conditioning Coach, as well as a spin teacher and talented poet. Emma is the guide for Canada's paralympic triathlete, Jessica Tuomela, and has been competing in triathlon for 8 years. Emma is passionate about exercise physiology research, and competes in cyclocross along with her triathlon training! In this episode, we talk about many things that I'm sure many of us wish we had heard in our early years of exploring fitness, whether competitive or recreationally: we discuss the misconceptions surrounding what it takes to be an athlete in terms of sacrifices of time and relationships, why "suffering" constantly during training can actually be detrimental to your performance, how to balance our social, academic and personal lives amidst competitive athletics, and why developing an intuitive relationship with your body as an athlete is key for success and results. I could not be more excited to bring this episode to you this week. I hope it helps you as much as it helped me!
*Disclaimer: Please keep in mind that the strategies we discussed to cope with disordered eating patterns and mental health setbacks are anecdotal and they are what worked for us personally. If you are experiencing any of these things, please seek help from a licensed professional.

I am so excited to bring you this back-and-forth, Q&A-style conversation with my dear friend and Kinesiology program-mate, Simon Funk! Simon is from Abbotsford, BC, he is an aspiring life coach, and host of the podcast Learning from Humanity, an ongoing conversation with "The Old" and "The Bold": incredible individuals from two different generations who are sharing their life wisdom on the fields of wellness, self-improvement, healing, and more.
In this episode, we spent time asking each other big questions regarding our life journeys: how we have both found (and continue to find) purpose in our early 20s, how we practice living well while expressing our truth, how we cultivate meaningful relationships with ourselves and others, how some of life's biggest lessons have gotten us to where we are today, and so much more. You'll be hearing lots of useful, daily, easy-to-apply advice about personal growth from Simon AND from yours truly in this conversation, so grab a pen and paper and join us in this incredible space of reflection!

There's no denying that the self-help industry has seen a boom in the last few years. Many people are doing it and many people are talking about it... but what happens when we become too absorbed in always trying to become better, in always moving on to the next book or saving another Ted Talk to watch, rather than staying in the present moment? In this episode, we discuss the side of self-improvement that not many talk about: when self-improvement leads to burnout and when it deters us from embracing who we are from moment to moment.

Have you ever gone seeking love for yourself in other people? Have you, or are you going through, the process of losing someone in your life, but finding it really difficult to remember who you were before them?
Attachment wounds are formed in our early years, based on the ways that we received love from our caregivers and the environments in which we grew up. How (and if) our needs were met in these critical times shapes how we form relationships in our adult lives, and how we regard ourselves in relationships. If you have a history of self-abandoning in relationships, giving yourself too quickly to emotionally unavailable people, or seeking love to avoid feeling alone, this episode is for you.
We define attachment, how to recognize if you have abandonment wounds that are influencing your attachment style, and how to build practices that allow you to enter relationships consciously while soothing your inner child.
This is my story of how I've learned to come home to myself after living in survival for many years. I hope it impacts your own.

Commitment can be scary, right? It's like signing a contract to all the ups and downs that can come with choosing to dedicate ourselves to something bigger than us, such as a romantic relationship, a new job, an opportunity to move across the country, and more. Any life situation is going to inevitably come with ups and downs, some ups bigger than others and some downs lower than we've ever experienced: but we always. Gain. Something. In the end.
In this episode, my goal is to help you overcome your fear of commitment by giving a more soul-based, heart-oriented perspective of viewing commitment. If you knew you would always get back up after a pitfall, how many more big and scary things would you commit to in your daily life?

In this episode, we are having a heart-to-heart. We are giving ourselves space to show up as we are today: no judgment, no expectations. I talk about some of the big experiences that have recently occurred in my life, how they have reshaped how I view vulnerability, healing, and processing emotions, and what I have been learning that has helped me throughout this season of growth and reconciliation with myself. My hope is that you also reconcile with some parts of yourself in today's conversation as you make your way through your personal growth journey.

Steph Morris is a female embodiment coach. She seeks to help ambitious, busy women slow down, transform the relationship with their body and release a lifetime of suppressed emotions so that they fall deeply in love with themselves, create deeper intimacy, and feel more pleasure, joy & ease in their life.
In this episode, we discuss Steph's journey towards embodiment: how the unhealthy lifestyle she used to live lead her down a slippery slope that ultimately impacted her health, well-being, and relationships, and how she is now using these life experiences to help women who are living disconnected from their bodies. We discuss emotional suppression, getting in touch with our bodies to get to know ourselves, and what small changes we can start making in our own lives to drastically improve how we walk through the world.
