You'll also discover how observation can accelerate your own career growth by expanding your business acumen, relationships, and perspective.

In this episode, MIchelle and Chase explore what PI really measures, why self-awareness (internal and external) matters, and how to use insights thoughtfully without losing your authenticity or burning out. You'll hear the metaphor "set the table" from PI expert John Ranaletta, plus practical tips for leaders and individual contributors to improve collaboration right away.

Whether you're leading a team or contributing to one, this episode helps you build stronger relationships, anticipate needs, and remove friction so you can work toward your career dreams with more clarity and confidence.

You'll learn:

  • Why using assessments well isn't manipulation, it's thoughtful
  • How internal + external self-awareness improve collaboration
  • The "set the table" approach and how to apply it

They share:

  • Why our brains default to certain "what if" scenarios
  • How upward counterfactuals can motivate growth (without pulling you into self‑doubt)
  • How downward counterfactuals help build resilience and perspective
  • Practical ways to turn regret into insight instead of discouragement

Whether you're celebrating a win or navigating a setback, this episode gives you the tools to use your past experiences to create better future outcomes.

In this episode, Michelle and Chase sit down with Amber Watts to explore a transformative approach to employee development: Everboarding. Amber shares insights from her book From Onboarding to Everboarding: Redefining Employee Development, challenging traditional views of onboarding as a one-time event and reframing it as a strategic, ongoing process that fuels long-term performance, retention, and growth.

Key Takeaways:

  • Everboarding begins after the welcome packet. It’s about building systems that evolve with your people.
  • Onboarding is a strategy, not an event. Leaders play a critical role in reinforcing key messages and creating a culture of continuous enablement.
  • It’s a relay, not a race. Ownership of development shifts across HR, L&D, employees, and leaders, each carrying the baton at different stages.
  • Mid-career professionals matter too. Everboarding isn’t just for new employees, it’s about staying adaptive, relevant, and growth-focused throughout an employee's journey.
  • Growth is self-driven, but leaders are powerful partners. Development isn’t always about promotion, it can be about deepening expertise and staying engaged.
  • You don’t need a program - you need a plan. Amber shares practical advice for organizations to implement an everboarding strategy.

Everboarding is a growth lever for organizations. It shifts the focus from simply getting someone started to keeping them growing, a mindset that’s essential in today’s fast-changing workplace.

Rose, Thorn, Bud is an activity that provides self-reflection about a given topic, an event, or what's happening in your world at a particular moment in time. Here is what each element represents:

  • Rose: A success. What’s working well.

Michelle and Chase have a conversation about the complex world of trust, specifically extending trust. There is no one size fits all path when it comes to extending, building, and maintaing trust.

They discuss three critical areas intertwined with trust:

  • Self-Awareness
  • Brené Brown's BRAVING inventory
  • Delegation

The cultivation and nurturing of trusting relationships demand dedication and attention. It's not merely about our individual or leadership trustworthiness; it's about the dance of reciprocity and extending trust to others.

The title may throw you for a loop! After all, the podcast is called Career Dreams…and at the beginning of every episode the intro says, “Your Career Dreams are within reach”… and now Michelle and Chase are telling you that your dreams might not come true? Well, this episode is inspired by a line in one of Michelle's all-time favorite songs. It’s called “Vienna” by Billy Joel. Don't fear! The song is thought-provoking and speaks to growth, ambition, and priorities and it inspired Michelle and Chase to dig into the importance of taking ownership of our careers and some ideas to make it happen.

Michelle and Chase are back in the studio after both had some time away from the office over the past several weeks. Both enjoyed their time away, relaxing, resetting, and enjoying time with family and friends. Time away from the office is good for all employees and that is exactly the topic for this episode, Exhaustion Is Not A Status Symbol.

Working ourselves to the point of exhaustion and burnout is common, and unfortuantely it's even expected by some employers, but the reality is this does more harm than good. Without a break, even a day here and there to step away from work, we will start to burn out and productivity will ultimately dwindle. Michelle and Chase share the importance of stepping away from the physical and mental demands of work to give us a chance to refresh, reset, reflect, and clear our minds to be more productive and engaged at work.
