This episode is so sick!! I had the pleasure of sitting down with Lily Switka. Lily and I went to high school together at Gilmour Academy, we never directly crossed paths during the time but have always watched each other flourish from afar. Lily was the president of Woman in STEM in highschool and always expected herself to be a scientist of some sort. Though Lily now finds herself taking a huge risk in her career change, to be an author. Be on the look out for her new novel, TBD.
Liz works as a culinary chef, and although the stereotype for woman is to be in the kitchen...the tables turn when there is a paycheck involved. Growing up, I watched many woman in my life have to claw their way through a male dominated work setting. This conversation means a lot to me and a lot of other woman out there who many feel unseen or unheard. Liz cultivates an understanding that we don't need to claw our way, we can redirect. Listen in for more.
This episode the audience gets the chance to hangout with Madeline (ig: @mermaid.madeline) and I, as we recap our Euro Summer. With everyone talking about their 'new selves', Shea Niell and I thought we could reflect on how a year has impacted her. Shea is a returning guest (Season 1 - EP 4) and gives the listeners a great opportunity to see Niells confident vulnerability...she makes you understand how those two words even fit next to each other in a sentence. Please enjoy :)
I am extremely grateful to be back doing what I love, chatting haha. This episode I give you my hot take on making goals in the New Year. Always understanding how important it is to have goals, but not to measure our self worth on them. Lets take back our lives and give the finger to hustle culture. Lets play Bingo!
I am back!!! After taking some much needed time for myself in life, I am ready to produce Volume 2 of Maur or Less. This episode I touch on navigating intrusive thoughts and combating them with compassion. I go for an sunday evening walk while recording this episode, and that is what really set the tone. I hope you enjoy a walk in the park with me :)
This episode is a fun one! My good friend Cami and I give you the feeling of being on facetime with your good friends. We get too chatting about what "situationships" are, our true opinions, and real life experiences with them. This is a good episode for anyone who is living their best single life, yet can get confused about the boundaries and reality of the man/women they are involved with. Enjoy!
This episode I talk about the importance of meditation. This impact the practice has had on me the last several years has been life changing, and it is the new "modern medicine" one might say. Understanding a little bit of the science behind meditation and why focusing in on the prefrontal cortex is necessary. I take you through what I believe to be the biggest misconceptions of meditation, as it is so good to be aware of some boundaries one might face. I also end on the benefits I have seen through my own practice, as well as the benefits I have read about in peer reviewed journals.

These are tips and processes that work for me, and this episode is meant to get your mind turning as to what your intentions and goals are.

I'm excited to have Matthew Sutton join me on episode 12! Matt studies Applied Mathematics-Computer Science and plays on the Division 1 NCAA team at Brown University. Most, if not all, top competing athletes are told they need to give up so much for their sport. In recent years discussions and awareness have been surfacing about athletes mental health and how we can do better. I believe Matt is a leader at this table. We talk about finding other outlets in your life - you are not just one career -, meditation/journaling, and being more active than passive in your life.
This is the second episode in the series 'By the Fire', where I, your host - Maura McKeown -, gets to run the show. First, the most deadly incident in soccer history: 125 people dead from stampede onto the field. Second, the development of more efficient and effective transplants, starting with "Personal Pigs". Lastly, an analysis of the excerpt from the book The Art of Happiness; the Dali Llama explains change and how it effects our relationships with others.

By the Fire is a series that brings the fireplace to you. Kick back and get cozy. On this episode I talk about three recent events I have read about in the Wall Street Journal or New York Times. The first event highlights the owner, Yvon Chouinard, of the glorious brand Patagonia has "given" his company away. The second event brings to light some major issues with Tesla batteries. Lastly, I cover the workings of the luxury home market and why it's not doing so hot right now.
