Acesomnyacs

Hi, we are Alex and Jessiye. We are two millennials navigating being Ace. This podcast seeks to explore all issues concerning the apsec (asexual and aromantic spectrum) community, not only in the personal, but in the larger scheme as well. While the podcast is built for consumption by aces and aros of any ethnicity, age, gender, ability, and class, we do hope we have something to offer everyone who feels like listening in. We hope to use this intersectional approach to provide not only meaningful insights for aspecs navigating the world, but also empathy, compassion, and even some levity. We hope you enjoy the show, and we welcome all feedback. Please reach out to us at acesomnyacs@gmail.com and various social media sites.

Welcome to the Acesomnyacs podcast!

In this episode Jessiye and Alex go thru a list of identities on the asexual/aromantic spectrum that are often not talked about. Often called identities under the ace/aro umbrella. We define each identity and try to say a little bit about each of them as far as we know. It's not a comprehensive list and these are just opinions. Many identities are explored like Demi/Gray, autochorissexual, fraysexual and aceflux. We hope you enjoy this little buffet of identities under the ace/aro umbrella. ntro and outro music by the talented Nathan-Paul Music whose work you can explore here: https://bit.ly/3A8weSx

In this episode Alex and Jessiye talk about being Ace and Aro while playing Dungeons and Dragons and other fantasy TTRPGs. How do we approach playing fictional characters in TTRPGs (Tabletop Roleplaying Games). Is it okay to play characters outside of your orientation? How do you role play a character who experiences sexual attraction when you are Asexual? Or a romantic character when you are Aromantic? (Note: This episode was recorded before the recent Supreme Court decision on Roe vs Wade) In this episode Alex and Jessiye tackle the iceberg that is amatonormativity. We give some brief life updates and discuss amatonormativity (if we could say it properly!) We talk about issues of how it is damaging to aro/aspec communities, the general public, what we can do about it, and how it fundamentally is a tool of capitalism and makes us less free. Alex and Jessiye regale their religious experiences in lieu of their known (and unknown) asexual status. We also cover Joshua Harris’ “I kissed dating goodbye”, purity pledges, and briefly touch on the political nature of it all. Plenty of Relatable Content® and capital T trauma for allo people too this episode. Join us and suffer. Consider it penance or whatever kink people are into these days.
