As the holiday season continues and we have more family gatherings and interactions, it's important to remember that we all do not come from the picture-perfect family. There is no family that has flawless family bonds, impeccable communication, or the perfect emotional handling of various situations. Perfection is a myth. Many among us have grown up in atmospheres that instilled us with damaging lessons and unhealthy methods of coping — lessons we are striving to unlearn to prevent the repetition of the same patterns with our children.Today, I discuss signs of toxic family dynamics and strategies to overcome them. If any signs of toxic family dynamics from your childhood resonate with you, it might be high time to face them head-on. It's time to reparent those parts of yourself that lacked the necessary nurturing during your formative years.Follow @parentstogether on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/parentstogether/?hl=en) for more great news and tips on parenting. #toxicfamilydynamics #reparent #holidayseason #family --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/caroline-mcclendon/messageSupport this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/caroline-mcclendon/support

Bullying is something that every parent hates. It's emotional not just for the kids but parents as well. While trying to help your child stand up for themselves, but also staying strong, you are crumbling because you want to help them in any way possible. Today I have a sit down with Jessica as she discusses her son being bullied what she did and how she has been helping both her sons develop self confidence and a spirit to stand up for themselves. It's important that we teach our kids not o be bullies, and learn to love each other, because we never know what each person is going through. Bullying can cause so much emotional damage, but Jess has taken matters into her own hands to help her sons through this time, and help build up self love through this difficult time.

Self-care is defined as "the practice of taking action to preserve or improve one's own health." As mothers...and parents in general...we tend to shy away from self care and focus on the care of our children and family. We put everyone ahead of us, but we forget you can't pour from an empty cup. Today I speak with licensed Mental Health Counselor Elli Assiobo-Tipoh on the topic of Self Care, it's importance and NOT feeling guilty about taking care of yourself!
What are some things you do for self care?
