Leslie Eaves joins me as we discuss life, transitions and "the new normal"
Over the last few years, we have had to face unprecedented change - you may be experiencing loss, stress, and emotional highs and lows. As we ease into the new, you may be feeling exhausted, unmotivated or wondering what you are doing with your life. Let’s talk about that! Honor where we are and recognize that this too is part of a growth and the healing journey.
When you find yourself saying "I don't Know." it may be because you feel out of control. Try shifting to "If I did know, I would..." or "This is what I know now and..." Listen for more ideas to manage - I Don't Know!
One of our favorite poems is by the Sufi poet Rumi, The Guest House. Rumi writes “This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival.” The poem captures so much of what it means to live life. To recognize we are all human and that just being alive comes with an ebb and flow of emotions and experiences.
As life & leadership coaches we worry that too often your goal is about reaching for something better - greater- more. In the pursuit of success, money, recognition, happiness or grasping onto those seemingly perfect moments you may be missing the sense of what being human is all about. You may be longing to be more than what you are right now as a reaction to the social situation in which you are living
Listen as we share some tips based on Rumi's words of wisdom.
Today we thought it would be fun if our audience would have the chance to get to know us a bit better and understand where we are coming from. We are going to share fun facts about ourselves and dribble in a bit of wisdom along the way.
Creating your BE-Print lays the foundation for you to live in alignment. Alignment of your beliefs, your principles and your actions. Thereby reducing stress. The idea is to get clear on your personal blueprint for living and challenge yourself with your own beliefs by learning to self-evaluate.
The BE-Print allows you to create your own personal measuring stick for life.
One of the key ways you make sense of the world is by comparing. It starts when you are young. What is the difference between a car and an SUV? Is this a flower or a weed? What makes one thing good and something else bad? Is there a continuum of good to bad or bad to good? Is what I’m doing serving me or not serving me? Comparing is one of the basic ways you develop a sense of who you are. Unfortunately it is one of the ways we erode our confidence. Explore ways to boost your self confidence.
How many contacts do you have, who are they and does it really matter?
David McClelland of Harvard would answer, “Yes!” Because, his prediction is that as much as 95% of your success or failure can be attributed to those you surround yourself with.
The peak time for forming friendships is in your teens and early twenties. I think of teen relationships as being a bunch of dominos all laid out on a table being grouped and regrouped, sometimes on a daily basis. As a middle school counselor, I wish I had a nickel for every time I heard the words, “My friend group...”. The social networks of teens are in a constant state of flux.
The pandemic has provided you an opportunity to design your life with meaningful connection in mind. To reflect on and adjust your interconnected web of relationship, with intention and purpose. Who you surround yourself with has a strong influence on your behavior, attitudes and results.
Listen for a process on how to explore your social networks.

Cliches were intended to be thought-provoking. The problem is that cliches are popular but therefore become trite when overused. Cliches can also provide ways to stay healthy: physically - “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” and mentally - “Don’t jump to conclusions.” You may find cliches helpful, especially when feeling stressed, frustrated or struggling with a relationship.
Listen as we share a few our favorite cliches and how we have applied them to life!
When's the last time you sat down, took a few deep breaths and spent time reflecting about YOU? How you see yourself is one of the biggest influences, if not the greatest influence, on the life you are creating. Well that’s the focus of today’s show self-image and how it impacts you especially in times of transition.
We share with our listeners the idea that change happens outside of you and transition happens within. Setting boundaries and structures can provide a sense of safety and ground you during times of stress.
With every life experience, especially the challenging ones, you can live with regret or walk away with a new life lesson. In this episode we share 6 life of the lessons we've learned through transitions we have made. We wish we could say we’ve mastered each of them. We can’t. I guess we are human.
There are words/phrases that we have come to love to hate. Some words that have lost their punch from overuse, other words that dis-empower the speaker, and others just because of our history with the word.
"Taking time to reflect on language is time well spent. Especially today when words are everywhere and often taken out of context."
Words on our list include, trauma, hero, should, would, could, make and a few more.
Stopping is sometimes more difficult than starting, especially if what you are doing is a habit, is sanctioned or expected by society, or is a role you have agreed to take on. When you take the time to reflect on your life, you begin to realize how much of what you are doing isn’t who you really are deep down inside. Getting clear on who you are brings your beliefs, your thoughts, and your actions into alignment. Alignment feels good. Living an aligned life decreases stress - while increasing your sense of well being.
We apologize for any sound glitches.

As Dr. Progoff said “Steppingstones are indicators that enable a person to recognize the deeper-than-conscious goals toward which the movement of his life is trying to take him.”
Stepping stones are significant points along life’s journey, the markers of times your life path paused and perhaps moved in a new direction. Stepping stones just are - they are neutral in nature, neither painful, or pleasurable, nor do they indicate progress or failure. They are the facts of life.
Listen as Ann Calcutt and Shelley Roy share their life journeys using the stepping stone journal method - "It was a time when ..."

What is a sacred space?
A sacred space is any location of special significance, and it comes into being when it is interpreted as a sacred space.
It is a space you create that evokes feelings of connectedness, safety, and calmness.
Being in your sacred space provides self-nourishment.
When you practice mindset and thought work, having sacred places becomes invaluable.
Join Shelley Roy, The Sassy Scandinavian, and me, The Saucy Southerner, as we discuss Beyond Sacred Places during this week’s episode of Soulitude, a podcast for women over 40
