123: Things aren’t as they should be. We live in a broken world, and because of that, families experience broken patterns of relating to each other. Parents are broken. Children are broken.

It’s wise for single women to resolve some of these broken patterns of relating with parents and change what they can before they repeat the broken patterns they’ve experienced. That’s the conversation we are starting today.

Kim is joined by her friend Jess, who shares some surprising insights from Moses' life. Who knew that Moses could be such an encouragement as we work toward healthy relationships?

Doing what we can to have healthy family relationships allows us to invest in ourselves and in our future marriage– it’s kinda like loving your husband before you even have one!

When you hear the words “marriage” and “commitment,” how does it make you feel?

Perhaps you can relate to these young women:

  • Marriage scares me a little because my parents are divorced, as well as a lot of my family members, so I just really don’t want divorce to be my story as well.
  • My parents have a really bad marriage, and I still see marriage as a gift, but it’s hard for me to believe that I could ever have a marriage that can truly last forever and make it through every trial. (My parents were believers, and they still got divorced.)
  • I can’t even commit to game night. How will I commit to one person forever? What if I struggle with what it be like to date this other guy?
  • I am really excited about marriage, but the divorce stats really scare me because I am worried that I won’t actually end up with the right person…What if I marry the wrong person??
  • Marriage is serious, and I don’t want a worldly marriage because I can see that the world’s way is clearly not working with how many people get divorced.

If you can relate, this is the episode for you! Kim, Leah, and Adrienne will be discussing some insights to help you not be spooked by marriage and commitment anymore.

Is going to church really that important? I mean, can’t we just watch the sermon online so we can stay in our pajamas? What difference does it make if we actually show up or not?

We’ve asked our friend Tonya back on the podcast to discuss the church with us from a single girl's perspective.

Today's topic is a heavy one--one that involves heartbreak and betrayal… cheating. Cheating is, unfortunately, far too common in relationships.

We know for many young women, it may seem impossible to ever trust a guy again after being cheated on. And perhaps even more impossible to think of staying married to someone who had an affair.

What do you do if you've been cheated on?

How do you move on?

How do you begin to trust someone again?

We've invited our friend Andrea on this episode to provide insights about how to move on when you've been cheated on. Who better to share these types of insights than a woman who has survived an affair?

We're not here to tell you whether you should go see the Barbie movie or not. Our intent is to process some of the messages the movie had with what we know of God's Word. Though it was extreme satire and meant to be a comedy, a message is still a message.

Do you struggle with how to "just be friends" with a guy? Do you have healthy friendships with your guy friends? Are you in a "situationship"? (Take Leah's diagnostic test in this episode to find out!)

One way you can love your husband before you even have one is to enter marriage with healthy friendships with your guy friends, and that is what we are discussing in this episode.

We've asked our friend Natalie to share her best tips about how to have healthy guy friendships. Then, we wrap things up by asking Natalie some of the questions you guys asked:

-What are some ways unhealthy guy friendships can hurt a future marriage?

-What are good conversation topics to have with my guy friends?

-What if I like guy friends more than girlfriends?

-How can a girl be kind without coming off as flirty?

-How can a girl tell when he's being flirty vs. being friendly?

93: Welcome back to Part 2 of Kim's discussion with her husband, Sean, about men and Biblical leadership. They had so much to talk about that their initial recording went pretty long. Instead of editing parts out, we decided to divide it into two episodes.

Last week, Kim and Sean talked about what the Bible means when it says that the husband is to lead a family, and they started talking about what that looks like practically. If you haven't heard Part 1 yet, go back and give a listen to Episode #92.

This week we are discussing questions like, "How can a single girl tell if a guy will be a good leader or not?" and "Is there anything a young woman can do to help a guy in her life step up and lead well?"

The episode is the finale for Season 5. Thanks so much for joining us. We're taking our break for the summer, and we'll see you again in August for Season 6!

92: One of the most common complaints we hear from young women is, “Why don’t guys take more initiative in relationships?”

In fact, the most listened-to episode on our podcast, hands-down, is our first episode, “Where Are All of the Good Guys?”

Whether it is simply asking a girl out or providing communication and clarity in a relationship, many guys won’t step up and take the lead. Why is that?

In today’s episode, we’re talking about men and Biblical leadership. Kim and her husband have an honest conversation about what it is like for a husband to lead in their marriage and family. You don't want to miss this rare opportunity to get a peek inside the heart and mind of a godly man.

89: Last week, we had a spicy episode on submission! And one of the biggest questions we’ve received is, “What does submission in marriage as a strong woman look like?”

“What if I’m not quiet and I have strong opinions?”

“What if the guy I marry is more laid-back than I am?”

To our strong female personalities out there, we hear you! And we hope to answer your question in this episode. This week, we’re talking with Rob and Bekah. 88: Does God want husbands to boss their wives around to make sandwiches for them?

Is that what submission means?

Why does God care about submission in marriage?

What does submission look like?

How do women submit to their husbands in marriage?

If submission is so important in marriage, are we supposed to be submissive while single?

What if a wife has a stronger personality than the man she marries? How does submission work then?

What if a wife disagrees with a decision her husband makes, or what if he isn't making a decision when she thinks he needs to?

If you have ever asked any of these questions, we hope you'll listen in to our discussion. We won't be able to cover everything in one episode, but Kim presents a helpful framework that lays the groundwork for what submission is and isn't.

S3E13: Often we envision what our lives will be like, and we start creating expectations in our minds and hearts. We start forming a timeline in our heads of how our career, marriage, and family will play out. S3E2: A special note about this episode...

Every person and body is different. For example, Kim has had rheumatoid arthritis for over 20 years, and it has made most fitness plans a challenge! Just as she did her own research, talked with her doctor, and found a trainer to work with her unique needs, we hope that you will do your own research, consult your doctor, and find a fitness coach who will give you the best information for your body and unique needs.

We live in a world that can often cause women to view their bodies in the wrong way. If you struggle with an eating disorder, the tips in this particular episode may not be the best ones for you. S1E13: Have you ever asked that question? We have, for sure!

It's no secret that many of us are experiencing increased levels of stress and anxiety. So whether it is stress from finals, relationships, grief, loss, or depression, counseling may be a place where we can move toward personal recovery. When we are healthy emotionally, it helps our relationships be healthy too.

In this episode, we welcome our guest Katelyn Eddleman from Ft. Worth Counseling and Intervention to help us answer this question and discuss this important topic.

S1E8: Porn is a bigger problem than our culture lets on. Contrary to common thought, marriage won't fix a porn problem. In fact, if you or your spouse enter marriage with a porn addiction, you are 2-3 times more likely to divorce in the next two years than a married couple without a porn habit.

How do you know if you're addicted to porn? Should you ask someone you're dating if they struggle with pornography? What are the next steps to take if you are struggling in this area?

In this episode, we talk with Ted and Amber Shimer. Ted is the founder of The Freedom Fight, a FREE online porn addiction recovery/discipleship program. He and his wife Amber will answer these questions & more!

It takes a unique woman (and a unique husband) to open up about this topic, and Gracen shares insights other married women are hesitant to share. If you regret the sexual decisions you've made, if you find it difficult to maintain sexual integrity, or if you just need some encouragement to trust God, you won't want to miss this episode!
