There’s a strong argument that certain generations, like the Baby Boomers, were forced to "grow up" faster in some ways compared to later generations. But with its own nuances. Let’s take a look. I'll bring in Holly from FL for a counterpoint. I may even tell him that's why he's here, who knows?

Today we bring in two experts to talk about the cryptids I began wondering about when I looked into the Ottine Swamp Monster, 45 minutes from my back door!
A cryptid is an animal that has been claimed to exist but has never been proven to. Cryptids don't have to be supernatural, mythical, or strange, and many popular creatures acquire these characteristics as their legends grow.

An in-depth (kinda) discussion with Gavin, the Man from Down Under, on the Malthusian concept of inevitable world calamity!
Thomas Robert Malthus was an influential British economist who is best known for his theory on population growth, outlined in his 1798 book An Essay on the Principle of Population.
In it, Malthus argued that populations inevitably expand until they outgrow their available food supply, causing the population growth to be reversed by disease, famine, war, or calamity.

It took me a few days to get fully focused on the border struggle at Eagle Pass, TX, on the US/Mexican border, less than 3.5 hours from my home.
But this has grown on a national level, with so many states offering support, and notice being made regarding constitutional rights and the involvement of the White House, we should all be paying attention.

I was in yet another on-line meeting, and I noticed a trend in which many of the participants were sitting in those black gaming chairs.
So I made a comment to a friend in a meeting, wondering about this trend. When for most meetings, I’m standing. My pal Kevin said, it’s not a gaming chair, but rather just a “super comfortable” chair. To which I responded, “what need for comfort have I?”
“Sounds like a podcast episode”, says Kevin. Oh Kevin. Game on.Seriously, props to Cleopatra for our title this week.

It's said that because there was no law, pioneers who lived in and settled the west were bound by these unwritten rules which centered on hospitality, fair play, loyalty, honesty, a deep respect for the land, and a rock solid work ethic.
Mitch wonders, does this still apply in todays' world?
Code of the West
1) Live each day with courage.
2) Take pride in your work.
3) Always finish what you start.
4) Do what has to be done.
5) Be tough, but fair.
6) When you make a promise, keep it.
7) Ride for the brand.
8) Talk less and say more.
9) Remember that some things
aren't for sale.
10) Know where to draw the line.

The Jason Aldean song – Try That in a Small Town, whose lyrics center on the divide between people in cities and rural areas (or “small towns”) where, according to Aldean, people aren’t as tolerant of certain behavior, like “(cussing) out a cop” or “(stomping) on the flag” and setting it on fire: “Try that in a small town / See how far you make it down the road / Around here we take care of our own.” It's causing quite the flack.
I've been wondering if "small town" ethics are still embraced in todays' society for some time, seemed like Mitch's cue to get the episode done, hope you enjoy it.

I’ve always, always, been referred to as a “beer and sandwiches” type of golfer. No idea where that came from, but you get the picture. Let’s face it. Golf is hard. Kellan and I try to surf as well and find many similarities. We’ll touch on some of this today, Kellan and I.

Big fan of F. Scott Fitzgerald that's his quote. It seems odd to think I’d date a 60 year old woman. Is it just me? That’s what I wonder. And is it a big deal? Or, again, is it just me. We’ll take a look into this today, try to understand if there’s a compelling reason I, and some of you, feel this way.

About this episode:
Are we really that divided as a culture? I mean, cultural division is not new. Race, gender, income, geography - we've been down this road before. If you want to see some intense cultural division, you do recall the Viet Nam era, right? But what's different now? Via social media, is the constant attention to our differences is making us think that we are more polarized than we actually are.
I think we're okay, there is hope, and we also discuss ways to encourage this hope. We've seen it, we can see it again.

Props. to the Warren Buffett quote, but ol Mitch was wondering. If all people thought the same about a good car, an old sweatshirt, a good ball glove. The value of things like this. But what is held in high value these days? Probably a lot of the same things I hold as valuable, I reckon.

HALLOWEEN! Who doesn't love this time of year?! Join us on another beautiful evening in central Texas as Holly, DT and I share stories of local hauntings. Prepare to be surprised! Look forward to hearing from you at mitch@mitchwonders.com !
I’ve never seen the TV show Dateline, but apparently it’s pretty popular. One listener from the Midwest is wondering, exactly, why. Not the TV show exactly but why is true crime so popular. What is it that is so captivating? Why do we slow down at car wrecks, what’s the fascination?
Today, DT and I do a deep dive. As deep as either of our brains can handle, anyway, on morbid curiosities. Trust me, we're in over our heads!

Today we discuss what has been termed as our culture becoming, well, stupider. It may be my opinion or it may not, but we have facts. And I’m truly blessed that our guest today, from the great state of Virginia, has agreed to join me to help me try and understand. I am a little worried as we met when I lived there and she and her friends have always impressed me with being a lot smarter than I. In fact she came up with the title for this episode.
But, on my side, I have St. Elmo beer today.
mitch@mitchwonders.com
I corralled Mook, Holly, and DT for what I hoped would be a serious discussion on aging in today's world. I'll be damned if I could keep them focused and we ended up laughing more than discussing! Part 2 we talk about the finer points, sorta.

"One starts to get young at the age of 60 and then it is too late."
As much as I hate to admit it, turning 60 makes a fella wonder. How can you not?
So much to discuss, so today we’re gonna try our first MULTI PERSON PODCAST! All attendants will have turned 60 just this year, so be ready for some educated, experienced, cranky, crotchety, snappy repartee.
As always, questions or issues YOU'RE concerned about send to - mitch@mitchwonders.com
I noticed the 30 second clip of Aaron Judge smacking his 57th homer of the year on YouTube. They were talking about how close he was to the single season home run record set by Roger Maris. Turns out there have been MANY people who have not only broken the 61 single season homer mark but SMASHED it.
The announcers don’t even speak about these players and those numbers because they were done by men during the “steroid era”. Quite frankly I support this, and today Holly and I will discuss both sides of the argument and touch base (see what I did there?) on why Babe Ruth was a friggin' Viking!
Your thoughts or ideas - mitch@mitchwonders.com
You guys know I love Texas. It’s just become…home, kinda easy on the mind. For me, anyway. I find my stride in rodeos, HEB grocery stores, warm weather, genuine people, great bbq, greater music, and a good airport. Over the years I’ve lived in a lot of places, but all those places feel like the steps I needed to make to get here. I feel like I was guided here.
But to my wonderment, there are people that prefer other places to the extent that they often challenge the why of where I live as opposed to where they do. I have a buddy, Nia. Nia lives in a little place called New York, NYC to be specific. In this episode she challenges my state and hometown and declares NY/NYC superior. I’m not sure I get it, but that’s not important. She does. So today we’re going to do our comparison.
If you have comments or a topic YOU wonder about, hit me up! mitch@mitchwonders.com
Drink Your Whiskey With Your Gun Hand is an old Scottish saying. The point being is that it shows a sign of being friendly if you're drinking with your gun hand, no intent on usin' if for shootin'. In Texas, it's a bit different - NEVER drink whiskey with your gun hand, always be ready, just in case.
Today we bring in a special guest, not only my favorite person on the planet, not only our first international guest, not ONLY an expert on the topic, but by son as well, Kellan.
Today we discuss bourbon and it's special place in the alcohol world. There's something special about a good bourbon, it's homey, comforting, tasty, and uniquely American.
We touch on the formula, the history, and why it's uniquely American, so feel free to pour a couple fingers and sit a spell.
As always, if you want to comment on the show or maybe suggest a topic you'd like us to cover, contact me at - mitch@mitchwonders.com
We sit down to discuss todays’ topic in a year when we’ve seen NFL contracts of half a billion to Patrick Mahomes, half a billion to Aaron Rogers, and 230 million to Deshaun Watson. And to thank his team for drafting and paying him on his initial contract , Deshaun sat out a full year while he pissed and moaned about life in general. 230 million is a lot of crappy chili on spaghetti.
I don’t get it, call me crazy, but these three knot heads basically control 1.23B between them. I’ve asked my buddy Holly to join me again to chat this out. Hopefully he can help.
Don’t forget, suggestions or questions are ALWAYS welcome at – mitch@mitchwonders.com
I've been wondering about electric cars since the inception. Do they have any power whatsoever, what is the charge range and what do you do if you run out? You can't borrow a gallon of electricity to get back to town. And what about the perception of them being, well, "nutless".
Who wants to drive a nutless vehicle, and is perception important in the grand scheme of environmental awareness? I think with the new push for electric pickups, it needs to be discussed. And today we will. Amongst other relevant facts.
Oh, and the title? I've recently heard that squirrels can't find 80% of the nuts they hide. How hilarious is that?!
