Nancy Virden is a suicide attempt survivor who is passionate about sharing hope. She is an author, Mental Health and Recovery Advocate, and Founder of Always the Fight Ministries. Diagnosed with Major Depression Recurrent in 2005, and finally addressing food addiction and a forty-year eating disorder in 2013, Nancy encourages those who struggle and teaches and supports how to help loved ones without becoming overwhelmed. She offers a revealing look into major depression and recovery and speaks on abuse, boundaries, other mental health topics, and faith-based issues. As a way to heal from the hurt of an impending divorce from her husband of 12 years, Erin walked a 550-mile pilgrimage across northern Spain. Along the Camino de Santiago, she discussed the idea of forgiveness with fellow pilgrims and filmed the interviews.

Thanksgiving is not always laughter,joy and giggles. Some of us are depressed. Some of us don't want to get out the bed and put on that "happy" face.
We are missing our loved ones we used to share this holiday with.The tears continue to flow, thinking how that person will not be in their reserved seat at the dining room table. They won’t be in place to carve the turkey and for me, they won’t be in the kitchen telling me I’m mixing the food wrong. ( lol )
For me, it’s my mama. I miss her so very much. It’s my fifth Thanksgiving without her and every year it’s hard. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday. Anthony Durden is also know as "The Street Minister" in the streets of Miami.
For 20 plus years he was addicted to crack cocaine.
At age 13 Anthony had his first experience using drugs which resulted in a 20 year addiction to drugs and alcohol. Anthony ended up becoming homeless, broke and during worst times eating out of garbage cans to survive. One day while high on drugs and wandering the streets of Miami, someone invited him into The Miami Rescue Mission's Regeneration Discipleship Program to get help for his drugs and alcohol addiction.
This saved his life.
Since fully committing his life to the Lord Anthony has been a solider for Christ in the streets of Miami and a pillar in our community. He gives back faithfully to the organization that helped save his life by returning to the Miami Rescue Mission monthly to teach bible study, host events and feed homeless men, women and children.
Today, Anthony has been clean and sober from drugs and alcohol for 14 years and keeps a busy schedule serving in the kingdom of God.He is a renowned Motivational Speaker and is the business owner of Kingdom Wear Clothing & Accessories. Anthony recognizes that his sobriety is connected to the work he does for the kingdom of God. To this he commits the rest of his life.

Tieshe Matthews is the fouder of Beautiful Kids Non Profit organization, which focuses on Alopecia in children. Alopecia areata is a skin disease, causing hair loss on the scalp, face and sometimes on other areas of the body. In can result in bald patches or total hair loss. The goal of BKO is to provide wigs to children living with alopecia and fund researchers, as they continue working to find a cure.
Tieshe is a hair stylist. On many occasions, children suffering with Alopecia would sit in her chair and ask, "How can I grow my hair back?". She knew she needed to do more. That's why she birthed Beautiful Kids Organization in 2009.

Lyme disease is the most commonly reported vector borne illness in the U.S. In 2011, it was the 6 most common Nationally Notifiable Disease. Rosa L. NeSmith has a story of tremendous resilience. The American Cancer Society, Walmart Foundation, and the City of Portsmouth have joined forces to encourage African American women, particularly those over the age of 40, to get a mammogram.
