The trade deadline came and went, and I had to hop on the mic to recap the electric Monday that was. I talk about what the Mariners did, why they didn't do enough, and why it fits into their theme from recent deadlines past. Where does this leave them heading into the final two months? We'll find out! Thanks for listening!

In this episode, I run through what the Mariners could be up to in the trade market this weekend and what teams could make a good trade partner. Who will they sell? How much will they buy? Could Eugenio Suarez be the next great player coach? All this and more on the trade deadline extravaganza episode. Thanks for listening!

In this episode I discuss all that's happened with the Mariners since my last pod. I talk about the recent A's series and how this could be the watershed moment of the season. I then talk at length about the left side of the infield, the piggybacking strategy, and Rob Refsnyder. I also touch on the positional pickle they’ll find themselves in when Donovan comes back. Thanks for listening as always!

In the first episode of the 2026 season, I examine these 4-9 Mariners and attempt to diagnose what has gone wrong. I talk about Logan Gilbert's pitch mix to open the year, Emerson Hancock as a viable starter??? And I also talk about Colt Emerson's extension and what that means for the team in 2026, if anything at all. Thanks for listening!

Welcome to the optimism hour brought to you by the Chaos Ball Podcast. Why? Because in this episode I take a look at the state of the AL West in 2026 and beyond. how do the Mariners stack up, and who is their biggest adversary in 2026 and the next half decade. I sprinkle a couple 2026 Mariners takes at the beginning of the show as well. Thanks for listening!

In this episode I broke down the Brendan Donovan trade, a weight has all be lifted off of our shoulders, we can rest now. He's finally a Mariner, and I shower this deal with praise and talk about how it's going to work and why it unlocks so much in this lineup. I talk about the infield battles upcoming in Spring Training, the pitching depth, and salute Rick Rizzs and the Sunday Creams. Thanks for listening!

The first episode of 2026! Welcome back from winter break, we're here to catch up on Mariners news that happened in the last month, which includes Andrew Knizner, Rob Refsnyder, and arbitration stuff. Thanks for listening, we're back to more regularly scheduled programming as we look forward to the WBC and Spring Training.

In this episode, I say goodbye to Harry Ford and say hello to Jose A Ferrer, and break down the trade in detail. I explain why I've come around on it since it and like it for both sides, and I go over what Ferrer brings to the table for the Mariners future. I chat briefly about some of the Mariners winter meetings reporting and what it could mean for the rest of the off-season, as we patiently await the next Jerry Dipoto transaction. Hey! Josh Naylor! In this episode, I do talk about the Josh Naylor signing but that was merely a small part in this off-season roadmap extravaganza. What else do the Mariners need to do to prepare for 2026? What are the budgetary constraints they set upon themselves? Who and what fits their needs? All that and more on the first long podcast of the 2026 off-season, the last off-season ever! Thanks for listening!

Welp, the season is over. In this episode I talk about the last few games of the ALCS, break down the The Bullpen Decision in Game 7, and talk about the never ending pain that is associated with the Seattle Mariners franchise. Thanks for listening all season!

The Seattle Mariners are doing something unprecedented in franchise history, let's talk about it. I recap the ALDS briefly (as brief as I can be) and then get right into how they got up 2 games on the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS. Jorge Polanco has been the playoff MVP, the pitching staff is looking potent again after a year of setbacks, and Cal Raleigh still hates Canada. They're winning by playing true Mariners baseball and it's beautiful. Thanks for listening!

They finally did it, after 24 years they are finally atop the AL West division. In this episode, I talk about how they clinched, what it felt like, and how we can't take these 'clinched with 88 wins' moments for granted. I pour one out for Dylan Moore, talk about demonic forces in Cleveland, and propose some ideas for how to line the rotation up for the ALDS. I will be back after that series, thanks for listening!

In this episode, I talk about the scorching hot Seattle Mariners. They can't stop losing in large part to an Etsy witch, mustaches, and an engagement. What has gone right for them in September, why does the schedule lean in the Mariners favor for the rest of the season, and what will Cal's home run total finally be? They control their own destiny, lets ride into a division title! Thanks for listening!

In this episode, I chat about why the Mariners are stuck in the same spot for the fourth straight seasons. I talk about Julio's second half performance, the pitching woes, and why they simply can't win on the road. I conduct a thought experiment on the fate of certain coaches and executives if in fact, the worse does happen at the end of September. I also offer some optimism for a playoff future, so it's not all bad! Thanks for listening!

All hail the Sacred Salmon, may we all look back on that beautiful falling fish moment in October and see it as the turning point of the season. In this episode I wax poetic about the Mariners, the best team in the AL since the trade deadline. I talk about why it's nice to have a lot of good hitters (shocker), how wild it is that Julio is doing his second half bit again, and then I waffle about the roster moves to come when the rehabbing boys get activated. Thanks for listening!

In this episode, I break it into two halves. The first half is pre-Geno, chatting about the moves for Naylor and Ferguson and how they were a great start to the deadline week, and then the second half of this episode is post-Geno. I react to the Eugenio Suarez deal, what it means for the team on the field and off it, and chat more about the team building as a whole. I also touch on how the other AL West teams improved at the deadline and what it means for the playoff push. Thanks for listening!

if there was any doubt before the ASB, there's absolutely no doubt now that Cal Raleigh is a bonafide star. In this short and sweet episode, I highlight what Mariners players had 'black ink' in the first half, talk about Cal for a bit, mention a couple other trade targets, and then I ask some key questions about the team headed into the final 40% of the season. Thanks for listening!

The Mariners have five All-Stars! The team must be cooking, right??? In this episode I take a little bit of time checking out what's been going on with the team, particularly Dominic Canzone? But most of this episode is dedicated to the trade deadline and what the Mariners need and what they could do to improve the squad. What are their biggest holes to fill, who is available, and who makes sense for the Mariners, all answered in this pod. Thanks for listening!

They let Donnie get hot baby!! Cal Raleigh, as it stands right now, should win the AL MVP. Are we talking enough about JP Crawford? I hope the M's plan for Bryce Miller has his long term health as the top priority. All those topics and more banter sprinkled in on this episode. Thanks for listening!

The podcast is off the IL and it couldn't have picked a better time in the Mariners season to come back. Everything is going great. Thanks for listening!

The Seattle Mariners have entered the Danger Zone. No, not the ethereal plane that the song by Kenny Loggins transports you to, but the baseball Danger Zone where your bad hitters start to regress to the mean, and all of your pitchers hit the IL. It's been a tough May so far, but somehow they are still in first place. The core of their offense is giving us hope, along with the return of Matt Brash and continued dominance of Bryan Woo and Andrés Muñoz, they're not too deep in the Danger Zone... yet. Thanks for listening!

The first month of Mariners baseball was a delight to behold, can they keep getting away with it? In this episode I dive into some team and individual numbers now that we are a month into the season and I feel good about getting some stat based takes off. Can the offense continue this torrid start, can the pitching find its footing? Let's chat some numbers together. Thanks for listening!

In this episode I propose some baseball related things that need to change, and I propose a radical way to improve the discourse around the sport. I also break down the bizarre April that Julio Rodriguez has had and what it might mean for the rest of the season. Thanks for listening!

Torpedo bat, engaged. Cal Raleigh is dumping all over the place and the Mariners are playing exactly .500 baseball. What can we take away from the first 20 games of the season, if anything, and how have the Mariners played up or down to the early season expectations thus far? I ramble about the current state of affairs without delving too deeply into the stats, because that's a task for early May. Matt Brash can you please come back? Thank you for listening!

Big Dumper got PAID, Mitch Haniger was released, and a new streaming service was launched, what a week for the Seattle Mariners! Thanks for listening!

The table is set, the pitching staff gives this team a solid floor, but can the offense take them to the postseason? In this episode I talk about this group of position players and what they can do this season. I talked a lot about how we should both appreciate what Julio has done as a player and also expect more, because the offense will go as far as he can take it. Talked about everyone else and what we can expect from the AAA group as well! Thanks for listening!

In this episode I preview the pitching staff for the 2025 Seattle Mariners, and chat about how good they'll have to be yet again for the team to contend, and I set out to answer some questions. Can the rotation continue their healthy ways? Can the bullpen get back to 'best in baseball' conversations? Is the depth enough to get through the season? Cy Young? All of those questions are pondered in this one. Thanks for listening, position player preview is next!

Spring Training is in full swing, and I chat about what I generally look for from players over the Spring. I go over the interesting pitch additions by many of the Mariners pitchers, some notable hard hit balls from some position players, and I chat about the 3b conundrum the Mariners have manufactured for themselves. Plus, what kind of milk do you think Mitch Haniger drinks? I answer that question in this episode.

Welp, the off-season is pretty much wrapped up for the Mariners. This podcast has zero structure, and it's mainly just me vamping about how I feel about the team heading into pitchers and catcher reporting. The Seattle Mariners were very quiet during the Winter Meetings, at least quiet in a baseball operations sense. In this episode I talk about the trade rumors surrounding Luis Castillo, the Mariners "all-in" comments on Roki Sasaki, and how much money Juan Soto just made. Thanks for listening!

The Winter Meetings are almost upon us, and the Mariners are poised to make more noise this year compared to last year. But will they actually do anything, or will they just whiteboard for three straight days again? This episode is very lax, I chat about the trade rumors with both Chicago teams, and I talk about how the team could address 2B with a Kim. In this episode I go over what has transpired so far this off-season, from Juan Soto and Roki Sasaki to... Austin Shenton? The second half of this episode I chat about the Mariners non-tender decisions, and talk about the implications of Josh Rojas no longer being on the squad. Now is when the hot stove could really heat up, will Jerry ignite the gas and make a trade soon? I guess we'll have to wait and see. Thanks for listening, I'll be back soon!

What players are on the Mariners books heading into a crucial off-season? For the first time in a while, they have a lot of arbitration decisions to think about as they gear up for next season. Who and who isn't non-tendered will tell us a lot about their strategy for the off-season. I recorded this podcast on my couch while watching Game 2 of the World Series, so there are some live reactions mixed into an otherwise low key discussion of the Mariners contract situations. Thanks for listening! I'll be back soon with a Farm System episode.

I wrap up the double episode, three hour podcast week on a good note, talking about the 2024 Mariners pitching staff. There is much more good than bad in this episode, and a full hour of it is praising everything that the starting rotation accomplished this season. I'm back and ready to evaluate the Seattle Mariners lineup contributors from this season, who was good, who was bad, who was just mediocre, and why did they fall short? I say farewell to the 2024 Mariners, and take a look back at the last decade of M's baseball and the pain it's provided to us fans. I touch on the recent Dipoto comments on the off-season, and the Jude article going over what we should expect in terms of $$ spent by the team to prepare for the 2025 season. I salute the Oakland A's at the end and yell at billionaires to end this episode. Thanks for listening all season!

The Mariners are hanging around and gearing up to dish out maximum pain on the fanbase once again. Let's check in on some of our pals! This is a very short and sweet episode, and I decided to take the focus off of the current Mariners for a moment, and check in on some former 2023 M's. I take a look at a couple of Snakes, a Dodger, and a Brave and see how they're all doing with their new teams. No, I didn't discuss Jerry being around in 2025 in this episode but I will at a later date, don't worry. Thanks for listening!

Well well well, we find ourselves with another podcast episode where I critique trades that Jerry Dipoto has made. This episode was recorded+edited hours before the Randy Arozarena trade broke, so the Randy talk will have to wait until next week. But in this episode, I throw out a fun comparison for who the 2024 Mariners remind me of and what the next couple months could hold. I run through the various absences in the current lineup and the state of the team as we head into the biggest week in the Jerry Dipoto era. Thanks for listening, tune in next week for the trade deadline recap!

After a holiday break, I'm back to name you some dudes. I talk briefly about where the Mariners are at after the first week and a half of July, but the bulk of this episode is focusing on what teams might be selling at the trade deadline. After identifying who might be selling, the naming of dudes commenced. I named the top guys on each of the sellers that might be moved, and highlighted a few key guys that the Mariners should be in business for if they're a serious organization. Thanks for listening this week!

The Mariners went to Florida and things did not go as planned, but they look to get back on track back home in Seattle. In this episode I take a look at the state of the team as a whole, and assess my current confidence level with the bullpen. I also examined what's going wrong with the offense and rant about the importance of the upcoming month of July.

I open by talking about Willie Mays and why he was such a sensational baseball player and a bridge of the game. I do talk about the Seattle Mariners as well this week, with some mentions of notable prospects performing very well right now, and I touch on the positional headache that the coaching staff finds themselves in. Also, as of June 20th, the Mariners run differential is equal to the amount of games they are above .500 (11), and I think that's just flat out hilarious. Thanks for listening this week, onto Florida!

I'm back! In this episode I recap the recent run of Mariners ball, highlight their very important record at home, how I feel about the division lead, and I wax poetic about how clutch Big Dumper is. On top of my weekly random notes, I go more in depth and look at the pitches Dominic Canzone has been seeing this year, and I also highlight Bryce Miller's improved secondary pitches this season. Thanks for tapping back in this week after the short hiatus!

You smell that? Smells like chaos to me. The Seattle Mariners are currently in 1st place with a negative run differential, they're playing true to themselves and I love (hate) it. This episode, I recap the strange week in Mariners baseball and contextualize it within the standings. I talk about Luke Raley's Baseball Savant page, JP's success since coming back, and the Ty France back meter. I touch on the Negro League discussions that were in the news this week as well. Thanks for listening!

This week I talk about the top 100 list updates and the relevant Mariners prospects involved, and I make a bold statement about the 2025 rankings that should include Felnin Celesten in some capacity. I recap this past week of Mariners baseball and the okay on field results against two great AL East teams, and I compare where the 2024 M's are to where the 2023 M's were at the same point last season. I finish the show by proposing a new MLB rule and look ahead at the important final week of May. Thanks for listening this week!

We're back to talking about the big league club this week! I got some housekeeping out of the way with injury updates, and then I talked about the state of the team in the month of May. Who's been hot, not, and mid in May so far. I also started turning the tires on trade talk, we're getting to that point in the year where the sellers are starting to show themselves in the standings, and it may be time for the fringe contenders to vulture some players on the middling squads. The mariners embark on a brutal roadtrip, and we all hope they have a good showing against the bets the AL East has to offer. Thanks for listening this week!

I am taking a break from talking about the big league Seattle Mariners this week, and instead I used this weeks episode to highlight what has been going on in the minor leagues. What are the Mariners top prospects doing? Who is each team performing? I highlight some non-top prospects and their strong starts to the season, and I give my picks for early season pitching and hitting breakout players in the minors so far this year. Also, if you live near Modesto, I implore you to go to a Nuts game as they are a WAGON of a baseball team and are just mashing beyond belief to start the year. I dissect what's going wrong with the offense, what's going right with the pitching staff, and what the 17-14 starts means in the context of the AL West. I talk about what it's going to take for this offense to be productive all season, and I go over the slashlines of the hot weeks Julio, Cal and Rojas just had. I wax poetic about Gabe Speier and the M's bullpen development strengths, and I speak about some guys who need to show me some more at the plate in the next week or two. In today's episode I take a deep dive into Logan Gilbert's pitch arsenal. How the pitch mix is playing in 2024, and how much it's changed since he debuted in 2021. I also look into some Ty France numbers and rate him currently on the "Ty France Back Meter". I finish the episode with some Mariners notes from this week of ball like Jonatan Clase's debut series sweep, the pitching staff finding its footing, and the bizarre Julio off day pick off fiasco. What's going on with the Mariners? More of the same. Tap into this episode to hear me sigh a lot about the current state of the Seattle baseball team. They refuse to be a normal baseball team, so they decided that the bottom of the order should actually do most of the work to score the runs, which is a really neat idea that I totally support! On top of M's talk, I finished the episode with some pitcher elbow discussion, and offered some fun solutions to the problem. Thanks for listening!

We made it folks, the Mariners played baseball games that actually mattered this past week and the vibes are already on the floor. Somehow, they are 3-4 but it doesn't feel that way. But I don't focus too much on the actual baseball they played, more about the general vibe and my feelings from the first week of ball. I talk about the new Salmon Race and mourn the loss of the Hydro Plane Race in the process. I transition to talk about some broader MLB topics like the Fanatics jersey fiasco, the A's, and Anthony Rendon. Thanks for listening, we are in for a long season!

I can make a case for each team in this division to make the playoffs, yes, even the Red Sox. Join me as I breakdown this loaded division, and wrap up the divisional previews with a spicy division winner pick. Thanks for listening along this past month, Opening Day is almost upon us and my Mariners preview will be dropping next week, so stay tuned for that!

The NL West is home to maybe the best team in baseball, and probably the worst team in baseball as well. Similar to the NL Central, I have no clue how the three teams in the middle will shake out! We have four teams trying to be competitive and that should provide plenty of entertainment, and then the Rockies are here also. Thanks for listening, we are almost done with the divisional previews, just one left later this week!

The NL Central will be a knife fight the entire way, I could see every team winning this division when it's all said and done (maybe not the Pirates). I think this division is going to be really fun in 2024, full of young exciting players and at least four teams that all have playoff hopes. Tap in and listen to me attempt to decipher how this group will shake out this season.

The wild wild AL West preview is here, and this division should be fun just like last year. The top teams all have very clear strengths and weaknesses, and they all project to finish within a few wins of each other like last year. The A's have some young players to watch, and the move to Vegas looms. And the Angels exist, Mike Trout is healthy, can they be the spicy thorn in the Mariners, Rangers and Astros side this year? Thanks for listening to this one, the next preview is coming out next Friday!
The Mariners are not included in this preview, they get their own preview later in March

The NL East is home to the best team in baseball, and also the Washington Nationals. The three teams in between should provide plenty of entertainment throughout the 2024 season as they hunt for a wild card. There are plenty of fun players and interesting team builds going on in this division, and I break it all down for you and attempt to predict what happens this season! Thank you for listening, the AL West preview is coming later this week!

The start of the divisional previews is upon us! The AL Central is not what you called a "good division" but there is some fun to be had in there. I go over each teams projected lineups and pitching staffs, and noodle on what I think the outcome is for the team in 2024 as well as identify each teams X-Factor and Key Questions for the year. There are 5 more of these divisional previews on the way, so strap in and get ready to listen to me name a bunch of dudes for a month straight. This is the last episode before the divisional previews begin! In this very short and sweet edition of the pod, I banter very briefly about the schedule for next month, early pitchers and catchers news from Arizona, and Fanatics/Nike garbage jerseys. And I finish the episode talking about Grover Cleveland Lowdermilk, a 100% real baseball player from the early 1900s.

Jerry made another trade, and unexpected but delightful move for Gregory Santos. I breakdown who exactly the Mariners acquired, and who they gave up, and how this improves the team and makes a lot of sense. Who did the M's give up, was it worth it? Plus I touch on some broader MLB topics such as, where do we put the A's? Thanks for listening, please give it a rating and/or review if you enjoyed the show!

The Mariners did a thing! Jerry Dipoto made a trade that everyone had been mocking for months now, but the return package was surprising. I spent about half the episode talking about Jorge Polanco to the Mariners, and what it means for the lineup and the bullpen. I round out the episode with some HOF talk, and finish with Ichiro and Felix 2025 HOF propaganda. Thanks for listening!

This is what happens when there isn't much to talk about, the only big signings of late have been a pair of relievers, and for the Mariners... Austin Voth? I went down a rabbit hole thinking about the Mariners bullpen for next season after the Voth signing, highlighting the core, the fringe, and the wild cards of the potential pen in 2024. I then meander about and talk about what teams have had the best/worst off-season up until this point. And then I end the episode drafting a Seattle Mariners NBA roster because why the hell not. The off-season slowly drags on, but we are close to season preview season, so episodes will have more meaning soon. Thanks for listening!

It's been a while since I recorded, but I am back to talk about the many moves that Jerry Dipoto and Co. have done since I last podded. Mitch Garver first and foremost, and then I talk about the pair of trades that happened more recently in which we saw our beloved boy Mitch Haniger return to the Seattle Mariners, and Anthony DeSchlafani has to be mentioned because he is indeed, a baseball player. Dipoto also found Jarred Kelenic's replacement in the outfield, and he traded with his favorite pals the Rays to do it. All this and more in this episode, thanks for joining me again in 2024!

Jung Hoo Lee has signed, Shohei Ohtani has signed, Yoshinobu Yamamoto signed an hour after I recorded. Who's left on the free agent pile and what's doable at this point for the (broke) Seattle Mariners? With the lack of significant Mariners news, this is a shorter episode and I decided to defer the rest of this podcast to 2024, so happy holidays and I'll see you next year.

I'm back folks, and it's officially salary dumping season and everyone is thrilled about it. I missed quite a bit since I last recorded, so I covered the Urias, Eugenio, and Kelenic trades and discussed how I am feeling about the team right now. Plus, the winter meetings were boring, Servais and Dipoto both said some things, and Ty France is at Driveline. If you too hate ownership groups, please leave a rating and review and tell me how you really feel.

Listen, was the title of this episode a plot to improve my SEO? Maybe. I do talk about Snell but it's not until the end of the show. I meander through my thoughts about free agency and arrive at some conclusions about the M's second base situation, their recent coaching hire, and how they should sign Jung Hoo Lee or I'm going to be unhappy. Plus, Julio was 4th in MVP voting, and JP and Cal both got 9th and 10th place votes! Please rate and/or review if you enjoy the show!

I look ahead into the vast sea that is the baseball off-season and take stock of who is available, what the Mariners strategy should be, and why the front office is currently in a pressure cooker. Would signing Shohei Ohtani release the pressure, or do they need to do more? What trades could they consider? I pose lots of questions with multiple choice answers, will the M's ace the test? (Probably not)

I went back and listened to each pre-season preview podcast, and I am ready to share how much I got right and wrong when previewing each team. I've digested the Mariners season, and split it up into three categories: The good, the bad, and the meh. I listened back to my pre-season episode and yoinked some quotes to see if I really do know ball, and then I talked candidly about the 2023 Mariners and what we can take away from this season. The 50th episode of this historic podcast has come at the most stressful point in the season. It's do-or-die time, there is one week of baseball left and the Mariners are on the outside looking in. I talk about the cursed Rangers series this weekend and look forward to the most important series of the year against the Astros starting today when this pod drops. I also diagnosed Ty France and talked about his year as a whole. And of course, my new segment where I read my random weekly notes rounds out the episode. Please rate and review if you enjoyed the show!

Fair warning, about half this episode is Mariners talk, and then I unveil a new segment "random weekly notes" and that really takes over. The September schedule has not been kind to our Seattle Mariners. But they look to bounce back this week in Oakland, which I have dubbed as the most important series of the year. Can they start playing better ball? Can they recapture a playoff spot going into the final week of the season? All of these questions will be answered by next weeks episode. Please rate and review if you enjoy the pod, appreciate the listen regardless!

The long road trip was not very kind to your Seattle Mariners. In this episode, I talk at length about the George Kirby situation, and I also go over monthly splits from our two rookie pitchers, Bryan Woo & Bryce Miller, to identify why some season long fatigue might be setting in for both of them. I also go over what went wrong on this road trip and more specifically how tired they looked against the Rays. And then I round out the episode by anxiously looking at the upcoming schedule in tandem with the current standings. I am officially on the waiver wire and looking for a new destination to make an impact down the stretch. The Mariners? Oh that silly little team? Still in first place, chugging along with some early September hiccups. I talk a little Modesto Nuts in this episode, as well as JP Crawford, Angels waiver wire, Kolten Wong, and Daniel Vogelbach trying to stretch out a double. A shorter episode this week, as I am very busy offering my services to different orgs on the waiver wire. Thanks for listening, rate and review if you enjoyed the show!Twitter - @chaosball1977Email - mschaosball@gmail.com
The Seattle Mariners are in sole possession of first place in the American League West division. Half of this episode is dedicated to how the Mariners gained this much ground, and how astonishing it is that they sit in 1st place at the end of August. Julio is at the center of it all, but when the entire 'championship core' is performing like this, the sky is the limit. In the latter half of the episode, I talk a little bit about how two Mariners 1st round picks are performing in the low minors, and how a gigantic 18 year old is wreaking havoc in Modesto. I end the show with some Shohei and Strasburg :( talk, and highlight the next week of M's ball. Join me as I recap a wonderful, if not very weird, week of Mariners baseball. With JP Crawford out with a concussion, our amazingly talented baseball boy Julio went on a heater to end all heaters and propelled the team to a (cursed) series victory in Kansas City and a sweep in Houston. They sit firmly in a wild card spot with the division lead in their crosshairs, as they continue to play their best baseball of the year at the right time. In this episode, I talk about both series victories, wax poetic about Julio, engage in bullpen discourse, and much much more. If you enjoy the show please rate & review if you can, and also write a sternly worded letter to Rob Manfred about why MLB should use metal bats. Thanks for listening!

Felix Hernandez is now a member of the Mariners HOF, and I discuss what he means to me as a fan, what he means to the Mariners franchise, and the best bits of his HOF ceremony. The Orioles came to town and took a series from the Mariners, which has been very difficult to do since July started. It felt like a playoff preview, and I break down the highlights from those three games. I also talk some Julio Rodriguez, Felix, Orioles social media and have a fun (name) edition of BRef POTW. I'm back! After a week off during the trade deadline, I make my triumphant return to this podcast just in time to talk about the Mariners mop of the Angels in Anaheim. This is a loaded episode, I break down who the Mariners acquired at the deadline while saying my heartfelt goodbye to Paul Sewald. I go over the crucial Angels series MOP over the weekend, the wild card picture/playoff odds, and I throw a bunch of stats at you that put the Mariners run since July 1st in perspective. If you liked the pod, feel free to leave a rating and review, in that review you could say something along the lines of "The 'Los Angeles Angels' are committing false advertising crimes because they don't play anywhere close to LA, also this podcast host knows ball, thanks." - Jerry Dipoto (Patron of the Chaos Ball Podcast).

This weekend, we saw the yearly pilgrimage of Blue Jay fans to Seattle. Those fans got to see Cal Raleigh and Teoscar Hernandez take turns savaging their baseball team en route to a series victory. But the M's continue to hover around .500 and the trade deadline is right around the corner, so I talk about what they might do in the next week to set themselves up for this season and the future. I also hit on some quick fire Mariners notes, Jarred Kelenic fractured his foot kicking a cooler, what's going on with Julio, pitching debuts, winning fixes everything & more! Nothing like dropping a series to the Tiger to kickstart the second half! The trade deadline is looming, and the Mariners simply cannot continue to roll out the same offense and hope to make the playoffs. What do they do? I go over why trading Logan Gilbert, while I don't want to see it happen, makes the most sense to address the offensive woes. I talk a little Ohtani, again, and what I would do if I was in the current situation the Angels find themselves in. BRef POTW returns, and chaos reigns. The chaos is flowing in this one, no structure, simply vibes. We've finally reached the All Star break, and the MLB limelight now shines on the beautiful city of Seattle. The only thing I need to see from the break is Julio Rodriguez wearing the home run derby chain, because it goes absolutely crazy. The Mariners have been playing some great ball recently and carry some momentum going into the break. They also made a small trade that I discuss a little bit, from a fan perspective and a business perspective. BRef POTW also returns this week!

The Seattle Mariners took a trip down to SoCal this past week, and they got a heavy dose of June gloom. They continue to play uninspiring baseball and somehow lead the league in getting picked off??? The dreams of winning the AL West this season are likely tarnished. Something has to change for this club and soon, otherwise the daunting AL Wildcard will slip away from their hands.

We have finally reached the month of June and that means we can officially start panicking about the Mariners season and we also have a decent enough sample to start judging every player very harshly. Bryan Woo made his debut against the best offense in baseball and it went about as you'd expect. The Mariners had an embarrassing week and the vibes couldn't be lower at the moment. The Mariners went 6-1 since my last podcast, and I would like to express my thanks to the Oakland Athletics for a good part of that. Julio has started to catch up to his expected stats, the pitching is still fantastic, the vibes are better, overall a great week to be a Mariners fan. I do a mini deep dive on Cal Raleigh's defense so far this year and examine his improvements since his rookie year. The Mariners AA affiliate in Arkansas is a pitching lab and they just won't stop. Bryce Miller is the latest product from the lab and he possesses one of the most unique fastballs in the league. There is more than just Bryce Miller in this episode, I touch on umpire accountability, the Mariners continuing offensive woes, and the least convincing sweep I've ever seen. The Mariners are .500, (as of 3/16), so the season can officially begin, again. There is a lot of Jarred Kelenic talk in this one folks, but I ramble about the first few weeks of the season and finally take a look at some stats. I discuss what have the Mariners done well, what they haven't done well, and why the sample size is always worth mentioning. Is the Mariners DH spot a black hole or an abyss? We did it! This is the last divisional preview podcast of the preseason. This episode only features four of the teams in this division, because my Mariners only preview will be dropping tomorrow, the day before opening day. Not only do I name a bunch of dudes on each team, but I also wildly speculate on Shohei Ohtani's future. This is a tough division to predict and every team improved at least a little bit this offseason. But, the Astros are still the standard, and the A's are still the floor, so that much hasn't changed. Welcome to the NL East! A division likely to see some carnage this season, with three clear candidates to win the division. The NL East is home to the richest owner and financial cheat code Steve Cohen. It's also home to the mighty mashing Phillies and also the dingermachineless Marlins. By the end of reading this description, the Braves have already signed another young player to a team friendly extension. Oh and the Nationals, remember when they won the World Series in 2019? Welcome to the NL Central. Home to Adam Wainwright and Rich Hill, two brave 60 year old men still throwing baseballs professionally. This division is also home to the brokest owner in all of baseball, however, all five teams have a certain frugality about the way they do business. In this podcast you will hear me ramble and name almost every player who may contribute to these teams throughout the season, and eventually give my O/U picks for each team. This special pod is all about the MLB International Amateur Free Agent process and how flawed it is. I go over how the international free agency system works and how it affects the league. I also highlight the big two signings that the Seattle Mariners made and then transition into a big rant about what is broken about this system and what needs to change.
I recap the past couple weeks of the MLB offseason, including some final thoughts on the Carlos Correa saga, the big Twins/Marlins trade, the MLB Manager Hotness ratings, and a lot of Mariners related news, the biggest being AJ Pollock signing!
