Welcome to the Boles of Life podcast. Hosted by Tyler and Virginia Boles. As we’ve gone through life we've learned something important. Life is messy. There are a lot of armchair experts out there who will try to tell you how to make life simple. It’s not. So you won’t find any here. Instead, you’ll find everyday people who have jumped into the mess of life and are making an adventure of it.

Discipline is not a tool for controlling behavior. It is a process of disciplining a child's heart toward right loves.
Continuing a series on the book Habits of the Household by Justin Whitmel Early, Tyler and Virginia reflect on the wide gap between what parents want in disciplining and what kids need from discipline, recognize that the goal of discipline is not about gaining control of an out of control situation, and highlight that when reconciliation is the goal of discipline we are right discipling our kids toward Jesus.

Eating is not just about surviving, it is a ritual of communing with others that allows us to thrive.
Continuing a series on the book Habits of the Household by Justin Whitmel Early, Tyler and Virginia discuss how coming together to the table positively impacts a family's overall well-being, how viewing your existing routines through a liturgical lens can show you what it is subtly teaching you about God, the world, and yourself, and how a simple invite to share a meal can bring someone into your household and into God’s family.

Everyone wakes up, but not everyone wakes up to reality. Plenty of us live with a skewed sense of the world partly because our wake-up routine sets the tone for our day and the tone it sets isn't leading us anywhere good.
Continuing a series on the book Habits of the Household by Justin Whitmel Early, Tyler and Virginia discuss how prayer, smartphones, and the last moment before you walk out the door all play a major factor in what your heart, soul, mind, and body will focus on and draw from for the rest of the day.

Whether you painstakingly planned out your daily routine or adopted what worked along the way, each of your habits are impacting what you believe is true and are shaping you into a particular kind of person.
Kicking off a series on the book Habits of the Household by Justin Whitmel Early, Tyler and Virginia discuss how your habits not only determine the lenses through which you view the world but also create a framework for everyone in your family to live by.
Through the book and this podcast series, Tyler and Virginia, alongside the book, make the case that it is through intentionally choosing your habits and routines that you set yourself and your family up to follow Jesus well.
