What do birds, cats, materials, or bodies have to do with art? This podcast serves as a supplementary resource for ARTS1 students from University of the Philippines Diliman.
In this day and age, is our experience of artworks as straightforward as we would like to think? And how do we grapple with this current environment in which we find ourselves constantly bombarded by images?
What is the relation of the body with aesthetics? Is this really about beautiful bodies? The answer might not be what you expect.
How am I related to a blade of grass or to a stone? Are materials of the world just really inert and passive or can we re-think how we perceive them?
When I look at a cat, the cat looks back at me. Ever wonder how our relationship with animals is related to aesthetic experiences? My cat would probably say, it's because he's a sight to behold.
What does a bird have to do with art? With aesthetics? Today we talk about the aesthetic field and we try to relate a small wooden bird to how we experience art.
