This podcast will discuss everything with and about Toronto FC, Canadian Premier League, the Canadian Men's, and Women's National Teams.
The CanWNT impresses as they won two games on the road against Australia, a team that finished fourth in the Summer Olympics. This is while Toronto FC's MLS Cup Playoff hopes are now slim to none following losses to both Atlanta United FC and Canadian Classique rivals, CF Montréal.
Toronto FC had some great pieces like Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi and the partnership in the centre-back roles with Chris Mavinga and Lukas MacNaughton. However, Alex Bono needs to play better and Riqui Puig spoiled the party at BMO Field this previous Wednesday.
Toronto FC now has three wins and two draws in their last five games. One big reason was the arrival of Italians of Domenico Criscito, Lorenzo Insigne, and Federico Bernardeschi and also the return of Richie Laryea. TFC are three points behind an MLS Cup Playoffs spot but needs to jump past quite a few teams, and they have also played one more game than most of the teams ahead and just behind them in the MLS Eastern Conference.
This is while Pacific FC drops the first half as Djenairo Daniels got himself in a good position to score, but was unable to convert on the scoring chances. Then, late in the game, C.S. Herediano got a header off, Jefferson Brenes got a header off. The second leg will be on next Tuesday, August. 23 at 8:15 p.m. ET in Costa Rica and road goals can be used as a tiebreaker either way for both teams.
In this episode, I look at Toronto FC's losses on the road against FC Cincinnati and the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and the loss at home against Orlando City SC. I also look at the number of Canadian players playing for Toronto as they continue to rebuild their team. Lastly, I discuss the breaking news from Grant Wahl on a possible Toronto NWSL team.
It was not a great last two games for Toronto FC. They lost both games and got no points. This was despite showing a fight on the road at Citi Field against New York City FC and also at BMO Field against FC Cincinnati. Jonathan Osorio's 300th appearance against NYCFC was celebrated before TFC's game against FC Cincinnati. Deandre Kerr scored his first-ever MLS and Toronto FC goal against New York City FC. This was while a week later Cincinnati's Ian Murphy scored his first-ever MLS goal as Nick Hagglund returned to BMO Field, this time not wearing the colours of TFC, but that of FC Cincinnati.
