The event at The Inn at Shattuck is August 10 starting at 4:30 p.m. includes a meal and games with prizes plus more. Deadline to sign up is Friday, August 2, 2024. Anderegg also thanked the scores of volunteers that assisted RBNC in repairing some of the damage to trails they received from flooding last month.

Dustin Dienst gives us not only some heat safety but traffic safety advice. This comes after multiple bad crashes on I-35 near Faribault in a construction zone. Dienst says bottom line is people need to pay attention and slow down.
We did our traditional cruise around the SCFF grounds (actually walked) visiting with varous food vendors about their products. It's always fun to meet people literally from all over the country who come to Minnesota to feed us. Many ahead of a trip to the Minnesota State Fair next week.

Opening day of the SCFF we visit with the owner of an exotic petting zoo from Missouri. The owner of a new food booth specializing in Jack Daniels Bourbon Chicken. We also share the story of Papa Jake Olson who grew up on a farm near Ellendale. He is 100 years old. The last survivor of his platoon that landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy during WW. He rec eived a Bronze Star and is visiting the fair this week because it was his only wish.
SCFF Dorector of Publcity Wayne Steele says people will want to be at opening ceremonies Tuesday in Owatonna. The last surviving member of his platoon that participated in landing on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France will be honored. The 100 year old Ellendale, Mn native recently told Good Morning America he wanted to go to the SCFF. They are flying him and his family to spend the week here.
We visit with various people at the Goodhue County Fair in Zumbrota. 4-H leaders tell us all their animals are up and general projects are up in numbers also.

John Mahal is no stranger to Northfield. He used to teach in the distric then was an Assistant Principal in Albert Lea. He returns to Northfield to become their Activities Director and says he is looking forward to the fall sports seasons. The first practices are Monday. We visited with John during our bi-monthly show in Northfield at the Century 21 Atwood Professional Pride Group offices.

Mick McGuire is Grand Marshal of the huge Sunday parade which starts at Noon. Former Mayor Jim Mladek talks about the terrific Saturday Car Show. Maureen Franek and Julie Bifano also talk about one of the most unique and longest running festivals in Minnesota.
Rice County Attorney Brian Mortenson stops by KDHL Rice County Fair Booth to discuss a variety of topics. The County's chief prosecutor says the state legislature passed some incomplete legislation the latest session.
Thomas joined us at the KDHL Fair Booth to give his view on the new Cannibis Law in Minnesota. He wrote a letter to lawmakers last session encouraging them to wait to pass until a test is developed to determine impairment while driving. Security is also being beefed up at the fair and the carnival rides are closing down an hour earlier in hopes of eliminating some fighting issues experienced the last couple years at the fair in Faribault.
