Grin and bear it."  Who says these kinds of things?  They are the ones who have not yet gone through the dark night of the soul; people who have not lost a spouse or a child or a parent... or a cherished, precious loved one.

When you’re stuck in grief, you close yourself off from interactions in life that normally would be healthy for you. You’re so grieved, so full of sorrow that you close your world in. You start disengaging from life so as to control your world. Why do some people seem to work through their grief better than others?  Some people think that going through the losses or tragedies of life are the exceptional times. But I believe otherwise. I believe our losses, our trials, our tragedies, and our crisis are the… normal. Hope is critical when going through the dark nights of grief. If we lose hope, then those dark nights of grief will cause our heart to become sick.
