On the latest episode of the Aligned Strength Podcast, I sit down with my friend and colleague Luke French to unpack what it really means to do the inner work.
We explore how our individual journeys — through training, self-development, and life’s challenges — have guided us toward a deeper sense of self-awareness and alignment. From confronting our own patterns and insecurities, to learning how to take full responsibility for our lives, this conversation dives into the often uncomfortable but deeply rewarding process of personal growth.
If you’ve ever wondered what the inner work looks like & where to start with your own process, this episode is a powerful listen.
Side note: this episode was initially intended to be just for the Thrive Talks podcast, but I decided to upload it here as well because why not!

In this conversation, I sit down with my friend Ryan Robinson to explore some of the practices and life lessons that have shaped his journey. Ryan shares his personal experience with breathwork — how I got into it as well as how it’s helped him reconnect with himself & find more presence in everyday life.
We also dive into the powerful lessons that can come through the pain of breakup, and how choosing to face rather than avoid that pain can lead to growth.
Lastly, we talk about the vulnerability, navigating relationship, spending time with yourself, & living an aligned life. A whole mix of good stuff.
This episode is a mix of honest reflection and practical insight — perfect for anyone navigating change, seeking healing, or looking to deepen their relationship with themselves & others.
Side-note: apologies for the audio quality during the first 30 minutes of this episode. It's a bit choppy & Ryan's voice is much deeper than usual, but it gets better around the 30 minute mark!

We spend so much of life chasing — success, validation, love, achievements — hoping they’ll finally silence that quiet voice inside that says, “I’m not enough.”
But no external achievement can ever fill an internal void.
True fulfilment doesn’t come from what you accumulate, but from doing the inner work to heal the parts of you that feel insufficient.
In this episode, I share why chasing external solutions keeps you stuck, and how turning inward is the only path to genuine peace and wholeness.

We often see our triggers as something negative — moments that make us overreact, shut down, or spiral. But what if those very triggers are here to teach us?
In this episode, I explore how the things, people, and situations that stir up fear, insecurity, or frustration are actually pointing us toward deeper healing. Rather than blaming the external event, we can use these moments as mirrors, revealing the places within us that are still calling for awareness and freedom.
If you’ve ever wondered why certain situations get under your skin — and how to move through them with more growth and self-awareness — this episode is for you.

It’s pretty common for a lot of people to just be swept along by the tide of life.
Very little - if any - time's taken to think about what you're actually moving towards.
Or what your life would look like an ideal world.
Stopping to think about this stuff can be pretty overwhelming.
And it doesn’t provide the same instant gratification as chilling watching Netflix does.
But it's damn important.
Because if you want to feel motivated & experience a different reality than your current one.
Then you have to first slow down & clarify what that reality looks like.
Only once you outline your ideal future can you start to move towards it!

At the root of all suffering is the inability to accept life the way it is.
When you place a subjective narrative around the way you think life 'should' be in order for you to be at peace, you're in fact creating parameters that lead to suffering.
The only way to truly transcend it is to fully accept life as it is.
In this episode I delve into how I re-frame the challenging moments in life & my approach to living in complete faith & surrender.

Are you in a bit of a motivational slump at the minute?
I know the feeling.
And I know that one of the best ways to overcome that feeling is to reconnect with your 'why'.

It's easy to feel like you just need to be more motivated or disciplined in order to get yourself doing the things you know you should be doing.
But I actually think that the first step to creating positive change in your life is self-compassion.
Fully accepting yourself for where you are right now.

A lot of us give a lot more of our energy to the external things in life than we do on our internal world.
We think changing our external circumstances is an effective long-term strategy to changing how we feel internally.
I think we've got it backwards.
Instead, we should aim to create change from the inside-out.
This involves looking inwards; asking yourself some important questions & reflecting on your emotional & behavioural patterns.
Because once you have greater awareness of where you're slipping up, it's a whole lot easier to create the change you're seeking.

On this episode of the Higher Health podcast I delve into an idea that I've been fascinated with lately - dis-identification with ego (the idea of the self).
Being wrapped up in a persona is, in my opinion, the biggest cause of the suffering (worry, anxiety, depression) that so many of us struggle with today.
But, if you can create the spaciousness needed to recognise that you are not the self/ego/persona, but are in fact the consciousness that observes the self.. everything changes.
I begin this episode by reading a short extract from probably my favourite book - 'The Untethered Soul' by Michael Singer - before delving into my interpretation of the text.

It’s easy to begin each day & each week in reaction mode.
To be immediately consumed by work, emails, social media, the news, life.
But to always live in reaction mode is a problem.
It means you never allow yourself the space to assess & reflect.
Which makes it near impossible to create meaningful change in your life.
Take a minute to slow down today.
Take a deep breath.
Get clear on your intentions.
And go from there.

Believe it or not, successful fat loss doesn’t require you to hit the gym 7 days a week.
All the time I hear from people who have gone from one extreme to the other. They have moments of intense motivation where they:
▫️ Hit the gym daily (but only do cardio)
▫️ Eat nothing but salad & air
▫️ Fail to value their recovery
And as you can probably guess.. it doesn’t end well.
They fall off track, feel like a failure for not hitting their absurd expectations, & revert back to their old ways.
In this episode I outline 4 fundamentals that, when prioritised, will help you to lose weight, create a healthier lifestyle, & simply feel good.
Life is transient.
As humans we go through cycles, just like the world around us.
Motivation
Energy
Mood
Emotions
All are forever changing.
Accepting the change is one of the biggest challenges we each face.
Yet the most liberating
I’ve found that the more I’m able to embrace the moments of low motivation, energy, & mood, the sooner I’m able to overcome them.
Because resisting what is does veeeery little to improve it!
So, if you find yourself in a moment where energy’s low & life feels more challenging than you’d like, embrace it.
Allow yourself to feel whatever you feel
And know that given time, it will pass.
As all things do
Regret is a feeling we all want to minimise.
But the reality is there's no way of completely eradicating it from your life.
There will always be an opportunity cost associated with making one decision over another.
But I think the key is to outline the regrets that you couldn't live with.. and to act on them.
When I was thinking about leaving my job in digital marketing & starting my PT course, a big part of me felt like stepping into the unknown would be a mistake.
But, an even bigger part of me knew that the regret I'd feel if I didn't make that decision would far outweigh the regret of making it and it not working out!
I find thinking in this way to be a really powerful way of motivating yourself to act.
Try it right now - ask yourself, what would be worse:
The discomfort of taking action & creating some kind of change in your life..
Or the discomfort of things staying exactly as they are for the next 5, 10, or even 20+ years.
When you frame it like that, the decision making process becomes a lot clearer.
On this episode I was joined for a second time by my man Luke French.
Luke holds many years of experience as a personal trainer and is also an educator to other coaches.

I think one of the most important things to do in life is to gain a better understanding of who you are.
By doing so, you’re able to align your actions with your values, leading to fulfilment.
But the only way you can gain this better understanding of self is to create space - by slowing down.
In this episode I outline why I think slowing down & looking inwards is key to living a life of alignment & fulfilment.
Over the last few weeks I’ve really come to terms with the importance of self-acceptance.
I recognise that the motivations behind a lot of what I do stems from a place of insufficiency.
It’s about proving myself to others via my work, my physical appearance, & a whole host of other things.
But ultimately, achieving the external stuff in life does very little if, fundamentally, you don’t accept yourself for who you are.
In this episode I go a bit deeper into my own experience of dealing with a lack of self-acceptance & how I’m working to overcome it moving forward.

This, in turn, allows you to begin making choices that feel more closely aligned with your values & that impact your life in a positive way!
