Saying no is an essential part of maintaining healthy boundaries and prioritizing your needs. However, it can be challenging to say no without feeling guilty.

In this episode, I go over a few ways to determine if you are habitually overcommitting OR if you are in a busy season of life. Understanding the difference will help save your sanity.

Calendar clutter will creep up on you in the same way as physical clutter. You never intended to be over-scheduled and stressed out, but here we are.

In this episode, Kim Snodgrass and I discuss the importance of connecting with our clients and helping them embrace imperfection while decluttering and organizing their homes.

Kim and I talk about how we prioritize functionality over aesthetics. Kim works closely with clients to help them let go of items they no longer need, and to create a space that is tailored to their needs and lifestyle.

We also discuss that while social media platforms like Instagram can be a source of inspiration, it's essential to set proper expectations. The before-and-after photos shared on social media are not representative of the entire process.

Kim will be hosting a workshop later this spring that you don't want to miss! Follow her on Instagram to be sure to stay up to date on all of the information.

In this episode, Kelly MacLeod and I are talking about the book 24/6, The Power of Unplugging One Day a Week by Tiffany Shlain. The book explores Tiffany and her family's decade-long practice of turning off all screens for 24 hours every week for what they call their Technology Shabbat.

Kelly and I discuss the power our devices and technology have over our day-to-day lives. We explored some different ways we can cut back on our consumption of the technology that is distracting us, especially how we can cut down on our social media usage.

We talked for quite a while on this topic and didn't even cover everything in the book. If you have been curious about how you could cut back on your social media and/or phone usage I hope this conversation will give you the permission slip you may have been looking for.

I highly recommend this book.
You can find it anywhere you buy books and also at the library!

Our next Book Club book is going to be Start With Hello (And Other Simple Ways to Live as Neighbors) by Shannan Martin.

Today I spoke with Paige Lubke of Lubke Transformations LLC and we dive into how to cultivate a feel-good home.

Lubke Transformations LLC - local (to Portland, OR metro) business offering space planning services and sustainable home decor, on a mission to make interior design more attainable.

Paige has been discovering ways to disrupt the narrative that interior design is only for the rich, long before her business was formed. She can sympathize with what it's like to live in a small apartment, with limited storage. Growing up, she and her friends enjoyed making things for their rooms and had the most fun simply styling hand-crafted toys, even more so than actually "playing" with them. As she got older she enjoyed moving her accessories around her room, restyling her flat surfaces often, and uncovering more and more of her interest in interior design. It's only natural now in adulthood, that Paige dedicates her time to helping others uncover the best layout for their spaces. Plus she creates one-of-a-kind handmade pieces, that add a touch of flare to every space they're a part of.

Paige will be a vendor at the upcoming Cherry City Flea in Salem Oregon on Sunday, April 2nd. Find more information HERE.

As we emerge from winter it can feel as if there is so much to do. Our list of spring cleaning projects grows by the day right along with our list of commitments. While spring cleaning refreshes and renews our spaces, it can leave some feeling exhausted and defeated from an ever-growing to-do list. I would like to invite you to a simpler spring, one where refreshing your heart and mind is as important as refreshing your home. I encourage you to begin clearing the mental clutter alongside the physical clutter.

My guest today is Lauren Tilden! Lauren is an ex-corporate marketer turned small business owner, podcast host, and leader of the best dang community of small biz owners ever (truly).

In 2017, Lauren left her corporate role as a marketing director and opened up a small paper goods business.

These days she owns two product-based businesses (Good Sheila + Station 7)

Lauren hosts a podcast called Making Good, which I highly recommend if you are a small business owner.

Plus she leads a membership community of incredible small business owners (Making Good Happen) which I happen to be part of!

Through all of this, Lauren combines two of her great loves — her love of marketing and the magic of small business.

I am so grateful I had the chance to talk with her about how she has worked to let go of perfection and embrace a simpler life!
