According to today's culture, being "woke" is being alert to what one feels is injustice. But we can't be culturally "woke" until we're spiritually "woke" first. Have you ever considered that the devil's first interaction with human beings involved planting seeds of doubt about their trust in God? The same tactics the enemy used then are what he uses today. Doubt is a normal human emotion, and it's not a bad thing to question what we believe. To quote the late Billy Graham, "It's the Holy Spirit's job to convict, God's job to judge, and my job to love." Instead of using physical differences as a barrier to connecting with one another, we should recognize that we're all equal in His eyes. If we're not prepared to fight the smaller battles of life, how will we be prepared for the bigger ones that come our way? We only have to look to the example of David in Scripture as someone who faithfully served God throughout his life, perfecting his skills and protecting his sheep from bears and lions and other outside threats. We've all been guilty at some point of pretending to be someone we're not. Yet there's perhaps no account in the Bible that more clearly reveals the humanity of Jesus. He prayed for His Father to let the cup pass from Him so that He would not have to die -- but He also prayed that His Father's will be done. God knows the world is filled with indecisive people, and our lives are often a mess because of it. That's why He wants us to surrender our doubts and fears, trust in His promises, and follow Himwhole-heartedly-- because He promises to take care of our every need when we commit ourselves to Him.

"Treat others the way you want to be treated" seems easy enough, as long as those "others" are people we like/agree with/who share our views. But when we have different thoughts and opinions, we're quick to judge and get angry with one another and "cancel" those we don't get along with. God calls us to a standard of perfection, but He also teaches us how to show mercy to ourselves and to others when that standard isn't met. God requires obedience from His children -- even when it's hard for us to do. But we tend to put off what He asks of us and then wonder why we don't hear His voice or see Him working in our lives! Instead of delaying and watching as yesterday becomes today and today becomes tomorrow, what if we obey him THIS day and choose to follow His lead regardless of what He's asked of us?

But in order for us to "power on" and power through the trials we face in this life, we have to first accept His forgiveness for our sins and give our lives to Him. In Genesis, we read about how God saw the evil in this world and destroyed the earth with a single flood. He only left eight obedient people and a bunch of animals to rebuild. The New Testament promises us that one day, God will destroy the heavens and the earth -- and Jesus is our only way of escape.
