If you struggle to understand why bad things happen to us, if you have a hard time understanding why there is so much suffering in the world, or if you struggle to believe in a loving god because of all the pain and fear around us, this episode is for you.
Today I offer an alternative perspective to "everything happens for a reason" or "God works in mysterious ways" -- explanations that never really helped me much when I struggled with many of these concepts myself.
... Until one day I received a god-ordained message that helped me see things in a way that I had never considered before. I explain that alternative perspective in this week's episode.
The YouTube video that I came across that changed my perspective, and which I unpack in the episode, is here: https://youtu.be/Ym4Rpd72tq8?si=Bh9cO3NLLWVrYIK-

I'm very familiar with this feeling. Through my experience, I've learned what I have to do to finally stop spinning all the plates and find peace instead. In this episode, I'll share this technique.

In my coaching program, Reparenting You, I teach 5 steps you can use when you are triggered and need to find grounding, inner safety, peace, and regulation.
But how do they work in real life, messy situations?
In this episode, I go through a real life trigger that happened to me several years ago and how the 5 steps would intervene to turn a shame spiral downward into a healing spiral upward.
I just launched a brand new FREE training called "How to Feel Safe in Your Body Again" where I talk more about how to use these steps to find inner peace and ground, especially when you're triggered and it's especially challenging.

Tried everything and still not sleeping well? I believe a huge number of people who experience difficulty getting to sleep or staying asleep are really having a stress response -- fight, flight, freeze, fawn -- rather than simply not being able to sleep. I believe many people experience anxiety and panic that keeps them from getting sleep rather than simply insomnia (and they may not even realize it), and this is why conventional medical advice (such as sleep hygiene) and even sleep medication may not be helping you the way you'd like.
In this episode you'll learn:
I have not read in any books the things that I talk about today regarding anxiety that causes insomnia, but one book that was very helpful for improving sleep hygiene and getting off of sleep medication is this book: Say Goodnight to Insomnia: https://amzn.to/3LBfw2b

We come to a point in our adult life where we realize that all the things we were told would bring us happiness and fulfillment have just led us to a dead end. Today I want to dive deep into a totally different way to approach life, one that transcends what we see with our eyes: the spiritual way. The spiritual approach to life sees beyond face value to what is happening under the surface in us and in others. It explains why we've been feeling so empty, and why nothing in this world will really satisfy.

"You should be grateful for what you have! Don't you know that some people don't even have food to eat?!" So many of us have a troubled relationship with gratitude without even realizing it. Gratitude is often misunderstood and used as a tool of shame, guilt, and toxic positivity rather the the life-transforming practice that it truly is.
In this episode, we will explain what toxic gratitude is, how it comes to be, and how we can re-learn gratitude as it's truly meant to be, a way to bring us closer to feelings of safety, support, and love.

This is my never-before-told story of leaving the Evangelical church, becoming an atheist for 6 years, and then finding a spirituality of my own understanding. Feelings and triggers, large and small, that emerge in our daily lives are a chance for us to heal and deepen our relationship with ourselves. But how do we do that, instead of beating ourselves up, using distraction or numbing to avoid our feelings, or projecting our feelings onto others?
In today's dynamic episode, you'll learn exactly how to do just that.
We'll talk about:
When we approach our feelings with loving compassion rather than self judgement or avoidance, we not only experience the love that we have been seeking in everyone and everything else, we heal the world just a little bit more.
