Hello and welcome to my Global Studies Senior Project where I am focusing on the importance of cultural identity to one’s birth country specifically in international adoption. Growing up as an adoptee from Almaty, Kazakhstan I had always known I was adopted. In the last six to seven years I have really been interested in learning more about international adoption. In one of my college classes we talked about cultural connection and identity which got me interested in how that looks like to adoptees. This podcast is my way of learning more and sharing what I have learned. This podcast is not about the adoption process itself, rather it is about the role of cultural identity in that process. Going into this podcast, I wanted to focus on the adoptee’s perspective and their opinions.
