This weekâs episode is a Community Spotlight on an organization out of Washington state called âRecovery Beyondâ. Recovery Beyond uses the outdoors to help addicts achieve a life of sobriety and thrive in an outdoor setting while nurturing important connections and relationships necessary in recovery. The program started as âClimbing Out of Homelessnessâ in Seattle. Climbing Out of Homelessness took people in addiction recovery and put them on a training program to summit Mount Rainier. Now, Recovery Beyond has taken that mission and incorporated a variety of other outdoor adventures to help members of the community in their recovery journey.

Paty lives in Oregon but her career as an Army officer has taken her and her family across the globe. When she retired from the military, Paty and her family bought an RV and traveled through Canada and the US exploring beautiful places. Apart from being an AT thru hiker, Paty has completed several other long distance hikes throughout the US including the Rim2Rim2Rim Grand Canyon, the Arizona Trail, and the Oregon Coast Trail among others! Shannon began highpointing with her dad and brothers as a young girl growing up in Illinois. She has completed the 50 state highpoints while also graduating from medical school and becoming a doctor!
