On today's episode, I'm going to share some thoughts about why willpower alone doesn't work, and what we can do instead to achieve our goals. So, what is willpower? Simply put, it's the ability to control our impulses and take action towards our goals. It's what helps us resist temptation and stay focused on what we really want. So, what do we mean when we say willpower alone doesn't work? Simply put, relying solely on willpower to achieve our goals is not sustainable in the long term. One of the main reasons why willpower alone doesn't work is that it's a finite resource. We only have so much willpower to use each day, and as we use it up, it becomes harder to resist temptation and stay focused on our goals. This is why we often find ourselves giving in to temptation later in the day, when our willpower reserves are depleted.

Robin is a world renowned motivational speaker, and author. I actually had an opportunity to see him speak at a conference in San Diego several years back and he made such an impression on me at the time.  Today I’m going to share a quick summary of one of his books, "The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari".

In today's fast-paced world, it is easy to become overwhelmed by the numerous demands placed on our time and resources. Without proper priorities, we risk spreading ourselves too thin and not achieving our goals. That's why it is essential to understand how to set priorities and manage our time effectively.

First, let's define priorities. A priority is something that is considered more important than other things and, as a result, deserves our attention and resources. When setting priorities, it's crucial to identify the most important tasks or goals and focus on them. This approach will help you achieve your goals and avoid wasting time on less important tasks.

In today's episode I'll be talking about the importance of setting proper priorities in your life and business…But more so why it’s so important to have those priorities in the right order.

So let's GROW!!

If something resonates with you, I'd love to connect.

Today we’re going to dive back into a series I call “My Bookshelf” where I share a quick summary of some books that have had an impact in my life and business over the years. On today’s episode, I’m going to share one of my all time favorite books, The Energy Bus by Jon Gordon.

While this book isn’t specific being an agent…I think you’ll find a lot will resonate with what we go through in maintaining a career in real estate

The book tells the story of George, a man who is struggling with negativity in both his personal and professional life. He finds himself stuck in a rut until a chance encounter with Joy, a bus driver, who introduces him to the ten rules for creating and sustaining positive energy. Each chapter of the book outlines one of these rules and provides practical strategies for implementing them in our daily lives.

"The greatest remedy for indecision is a decision." – Anonymous

It's a common problem that many people face…And it can be quite frustrating and overwhelming.

I'll also offer some tactical strategies for how you can deal with analysis paralysis in your life and business.

Today I’m going to share a quick summary of a book that I read for the first time about 4 years ago called Ninja Selling by Larry Kendall.

One of my favorite quotes by the author is…

“The enemy of Mastery is not mediocrity. It is distractions. The addiction to distractions ruins many potentially awesome lives.”

Coming from someone who loves to chase squirrels, I just love that quote.

So "Ninja Selling" is a guidebook for real estate agents that aims to help them achieve greater success and happiness in their careers by applying a unique approach to selling.

I believe having a career in real estate is very unique relative to other sales careers simply because the sales cycle can be so much longer than a lot of other industries. Additionally, working in real estate we are not selling in the B2B space as we’re helping guide individuals and families in purchasing one of their largest, if not the largest assets they have in buying a home. So in this regard there is a very personal and intimate element of how we interact with our clients.

Over the course of the last couple months as I’ve been writing and recording content for the podcast…I find myself utilizing a lot of the concepts from the books that I’ve read over the years.

I realized however that in a way I’m short changing my listeners by only sharing an authors quote here and there, while there’s so much more value contained in the book itself. So I’ve decided to start a new series on the podcast called…MY BOOKSHELF where I’ll dive into some of my favorite books in more detail.

Today I’m going to share a quick summary of a book that I personally reflect on often…It’s called The One Thing by real estate legend, Gary Keller.

On today's episode, we're going to talk about the difference between responsibility and accountability.

These two concepts are often used interchangeably, but they have distinct meanings.

Let's start by defining responsibility and accountability.

Responsibility refers to the personal duty and obligation to act in a certain way or fulfill a particular task. It involves taking ownership of one's actions and decisions and recognizing that their consequences have an impact on others.

Accountability, on the other hand, refers to the obligation to answer for one's actions, decisions, and behaviors. It involves taking responsibility for the outcomes, whether they are positive or negative, and being willing to accept the consequences of one's actions.

I'm going to share how responsibility and accountability relate to one another...AND I'm going to share some tactical strategies you can look to implement in your real estate business in order to increase your production.

Nelson Mandela once said, “Action without vision is only passing time. Vision without action is merely daydreaming. But vision with action can change the world.”

John Maxwell says, “You can’t buy, beg, or borrow vision. It has to come from the inside.”

I have a Confession...

I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my business in the past…Effectively casting the vision for my company to everyone else around me sits atop all of those mistakes.  It’s not that I didn’t have a vision for where I wanted my business to go into the future…Where I missed the mark was in how clearly I communicated that vision to the rest of the team. This is turn may have had an impact with how our team members communicated the value and services provided to our clients. So it really had a trickle down effect.

So while I’m excited to share the content I created for todays episode, in hopes you’ll go implement in your lives and businesses…I’ve already had some breakthroughs of my own that I'm excited to share with you.

So let's dig in!!

Expectations are a part of our daily lives, we expect things from ourselves, from others, and from the world. And while having expectations can be helpful in setting goals and keeping us motivated, it can also lead us down a dangerous path.

When our expectations are not met, it can lead to disappointment, frustration, and even depression.

In today's episode, I'll share some thing I believe that if we can all spend sometime reflecting on in our own lives...We can truly begin to change the world.

I decided to record a special episode in honor of Valentines ❤️❤️ Day...

Like most children, my kids love sweet-treats…Specifically, ice cream. They undoubtedly got this from me. Being the good parents that we are, we allow them to enjoy ice cream as a treat fairly regularly. While we have restrictions in place to limit how often they are allowed to have ice cream…

Recently I suspected my youngest daughter might be helping herself more often than that…One day after calling her name a few times with no response, I noticed her coming out of the utility room in our basement where the freezer is that we store the ice cream. Now I already knew the only reason she would have been in there in the first place was to pilfer the vanilla drumsticks she loves so much but when I point blank asked her what she was doing…She responded with an immediate denial of any wrong doing. As she got closer to me, I could see the chocolate residue on her face so I asked again…”Honey were you sneaking an ice cream cone when you shouldn’t be?”…Again steadfast denial.

After staring directly in her eyes and in total silence she finally teared up and admitted that she had just consumed the ice cream cone (probably in record time). Now I’m sure the truth surfaced in this case as my daughter knew she would likely get in more trouble if she didn’t come clean…But bear with me as I am only using this story to scratch the surface of something far deeper in the world right now.

In today's episode I will share what 'Truth" is and what it is NOT...More importantly I'll be sharing Why and How we can speak Truth in Love to those around us.

Ephesians 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Matthew 18:5-17 15 If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

James 5:19-20 19 My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, 20 remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

1 Peter 2:21-24 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 22 “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” 23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”

Have you ever heard the phrase, "slow down to hurry up"? In the modern world, that phrase can be very confusing.

It seems in todays world, we wear BUSYness as a badge of honor.

Have you ever found yourself thinking...

"I don't have enough time" OR "If only I had more hours in the day"

Why do we feel so inclined to always feel the need to be BUSY???

In a world where is seems we have more to do, than time to do it in...

CEO of Maxwell Leadership Companies, Mark Cole explains why "BUSY" is like any other 4-letter word...

That saying we are busy is a "direct line to empathy" because people identify with the overload that comes with being 'overworked'

The problem, Mark explains is empathy doesn't help us get past being busy...it only reinforces that mental state and allows us to "feel ok" with being that way. That feeling only enables to to continue the behavior of feeling busy because let's face it...We like when people understand our plight.

In todays episode, I'll unpack some practical ideas you can implement in your life to break the bad 'habit' of being BUSY vs. taking care of Business.

Let's start with the definition of criticism..."The expression of disapproval of someone or something based on perceived faults or mistakes".

There are also different forms of criticism...Positive "constructive" and negative "destructive".

Criticism can come from almost any angle...Maybe an agent in your office didn't like something you said in a team meeting or criticizes a leadership decision you made.

Often these days, someone may comment on something you said or did on social media or maybe someone is speaking behind your back.

Does this ever happened to you?

The problem is...Many times when we become hyper-aware of criticism (both positive AND negative) we can become un-productive as we're not fully alive in the present. We begin to over-analyze past decisions we've made and can literally paralyze ourselves in taking any action moving forward. This will only keep us from living a life in the present as we continue to fixate on the past.

In today's episode I'll share some thoughts on how you can 'lighten the load' in order to effectively receive and process the criticisms that come your way.

If something resonates with you, I'd love to connect.

Something I believe isn't talked about enough as we're always so focused on improving ourselves (which is VERY important indeed) is how we can develop and nurture deep and meaningful relationships with others.  "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another" - Proverbs 27:17.

God designed the world for us to live in community with one another.  As we're still reeling from the after effects of a worldwide pandemic where we were forced in many cases to isolate ourselves from the world...And, in a culture where social media has become a primary method for developing the 'relationships' we have with each other...It's become more important now than ever that we seek to gain and develop deeper and more meaningful relationships, with more people in our lives.

It all begins with getting our expectations of others (and ourselves) in check and then if we  focus on communicating effectively with those around us, we can make the world a better place.

So let's GO DEEP!!

Did you know that our brains are hardwired to protect us?  That may not sound like such a bad thing, however looking at it another way...The natural mechanism of our brains is to magnify ALL of the negative stuff we experience.  What does this mean?  We have to be intentional about practicing living a life of GRATITUDE so that we can begin to the ALL of the blessings in store for us in the world.  In this episode, I'll unpack the effects of GRATITUDE on our Psychological, Physical and Spiritual parts of our lives.  I'll also share some important lesson about creating "Success Stabilizers" so we can realize our FULL potential in life.  Thank you for listening and I hope you enjoy!

I grew up in a real estate family. My Mom was a real estate agent and my Dad was a real estate attorney. As I recall, they spent A LOT of time at industry networking events. This was most likely due to the fact the world was not as "connected" 🖥 📱 as it is today. Over the past 2 decades we've experienced so much innovation through technology it seems in our lives and business, we've gone WIDE instead of DEEP in how we develop relationships with each other.

Why is this important you ask? 🤷‍♂️ Well call me a traditionalist but I believe developing deep and authentic relationships with other professionals in our industry can help to elevate our industry overall in the eyes of our clients.

In order to do so, we need to create and develop relationships with no strings attached. By having the heart of a servant, we'll find more fulfillment in our lives.
