In this episode, Alvaro "Alvy" & Matt talk about the story of how they met.
This story begins when Alvaro was only in diapers. Matt hired Alvaro's father to come work at the shop when Alvaro was only four years old.

From the moment Alvaro could hold onto memories, he remembers, the donut shop, his father working in the shop, and Matt.
The donut shop was like a second home to Alvaro, and Matt, like a second father.
.
Matt explains how Alvaro, and his brother, went everywhere with Matt. Professional baseball games, amusement parks, errands around town, etc,.

What Matt did not realize at the time of hiring Alvaro's father, was how close Alvaro's entire family would become to the shop, and in turn, Matt.

In this introductory episode, Alvaro "Alvy" & Matt introduce themselves and begin to explain Matt's over 50-year tenure as the "Chief Donut Officer" of Red's Donuts located in the Monterey Bay of California.

Matt's goes into detail relating to how the donut shop was founded, how he took over the family business at a young age and what it was like running an operating a small, local business that is still in operation to this day - some 73 years after its inception.
