Mrs. Torres has facilitated Grief & Faith presentations in both virtual and in-person settings over the years, receiving overwhelmingly positive responses, especially from the NASW Pembroke LPU and NASW Fayetteville LPU. She also has experience working in Hospice and Mental Health. Similar to you, your loved ones, clients, and communities, Mrs. Torres intimately understands Grief. She lost her mother in a tragic house fire in 1996 and since then, she has faced multiple losses. Grief and faith are near and dear to her heart and teaching others how to journey through some of the most heart-wrenching losses is one of her passions.

One one of the things that was passed down to me was intergenerational trauma. My mother was sexually abused at a young age and we never had "that talk". In this episode I will share an overview of What Trauma Is, the types of traumas, and trauma symptoms. Trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event like an accident, rape or natural disaster. Immediately after the event, shock and denial are typical. Longer term reactions include unpredictable emotions, flashbacks, strained relationships and even physical symptoms like headaches or nausea. Some types of Traumas are: · Bullying · Community Violence · Complex Trauma · Disasters · Early Childhood Trauma · Intimate Partner Violence · Medical Trauma · Physical Abuse · Sexual Abuse · Human Trafficking · Miscarriages · Death of a Child · Car Accident · Intergenerational Trauma
Symptoms of psychological trauma 1. Shock, denial, or disbelief. 2. Confusion, difficulty concentrating. 3. Anger, irritability, mood swings. 4. Anxiety and fear. 5. Guilt, shame, self-blame. 6.
