Firstly, my sincerest apologies for the late upload. Life happened, in the form of unforeseen circumstances is the best way I can put it.

The longest running crypto exchange released their first Crypto Pulse report in March of this year and just like last week's report, it focused on the attitudes and barriers defining the current space. A much larger database to work from, it looked at 2 main points as the theme of the report, trust and education. Simply put, if people know something more, they are more likely to trust it and thus, adopt it more.

I hope this episode is of some value to you and as always, feel free to converse with me on;

In today's episode, we unpack a report published by the cryptocurrency exchange Gemini where we focus on the African respondents in particular. This ultimately gives us an idea of what the feelings are towards the overall crypto and blockchain space. Statistics coming out of Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa give us an indication of how far adoption has come and how much is yet to be done, addressing the different barriers to mainstream adoption. Understanding this is important to assessing the long term vision of the space and the implications that could be had on the continent.
I chime in with a few of my thoughts and as always, I hope it is of value to you. Take care.

Who remembers collecting trading cards, be it the Topps sports cards or the Yugi Oh game cards? How about the Dragonball Z tazos in the Simba chips (apologies for not specifying in the audio) that became a new sensation amongst kids? These can all classify as examples of physical collectibles and before the pandemic, the global collectibles market had seen somewhat of a plateau. During the pandemic however, there was a surge in interest and trading volume. People were buying and selling on all secondary markets. As of last year, the physical collectibles market was all accounted for but with the emergence of its digital counterparts (NFTs), the market seems to shifting towards the digital realm. We take a look at the industries that NFTs and blockchain technology will look to improve, their supposed harmful environmental properties and why that is slowly diminishing as well as the emergence of 'phygitals' and the new possibilities that comes with them.

I would like to mention that there was a lot more that could have been spoken about, from smart contracts and what they do to the different types of NFTs but those will be episodes on their own. Simply to avoid confusion and information overload.
With all that being said, I hope this episode brings some valuable insight and helps you in some way.

Until next time, take care.

Screens weren't that prominent in human's lives not that long ago yet today it would be difficult to mention something that doesn't involve one. Probably most of the daily tasks in our lives involves a screen of some sort and that dependency and consumption is what we discuss in today's episode. Starting with a global view of who's the worst (most) and best (least) consumers of screens to narrowing it down to the African continent and then South Africa, we dissect the different devices and how mobile has widened the gap over desktop. What is being consumed is a topic that is just as important because it gives us an idea of where people's attention is. Not forgetting the negative effects of too much screen time on children and adults, we take a look at what could become of screens in the next 5-10 years. Metaverse anyone? I hope this episode is of value to you.

Until next week, take care!
