Hive Open Mic Week 122: Emotion

Hello beautiful people! It's another week of open mic and I can't help the excitement. For today's week, the theme is "Emotion". I love the theme so much as I have thought of a lot of songs that fit it. After thinking of a lot of the songs I love, I end up choosing the song " Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid movie. If you are a Disney fan, you may have checked this movie already and heard the song as well.

Ever since I was young, I love this song so much. I love to sing it with my cousins who love the movie as well. I love how Ariel sang the song. Moreover, ever since I was young, I love Ariel because I want to be a mermaid too in some way, but I guess it's just a fantasy that only takes place in my mind. I also love to indulge my thoughts on wonderful fantasy stuff because, in some way, I could escape from the harsh reality.

Furthermore, I choose the song because I could feel the emotion that Ariel holds when she sang it. She's just a teenager wanted to explore life, the life that his father doesn't want her to be in since it's a cruel world. But teenager things, she wanted to follow what she wants and would never want to listen to her father. All she ever wanted was so to be in a world away from the sea, a place which could satisfy her curiosity.

I remember way back when I was young, I also feel sad or bad about being reprimanded by my parents. I have mixed emotions every time. I remember wanting to leave our home back then because I hate being reprimanded. But now that I'm older, I realized that what my parents want back then was for my good only.

By the way, here's a part of the song. You may check the full link of the lyrics here

Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid

[Intro, spoken]

Maybe he's right...

Maybe there is something the matter with me

I just, I don't see how a world that makes such wonderful things could be bad...

[Verse 1]

Look at this stuff

Isn't it neat?

Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?

Wouldn't you think I'm the girl, the girl who has everything?

[Verse 2]

Look at this trove

Treasures untold

How many wonders can one cavern hold?

Lookin' around here you'd think

Sure she's got everything

[Pre-Chorus]

I've got gadgets and gizmos aplenty

I've got whozits and whatzits galore

You want thingamabobs? I got twenty

But who cares?

No big deal

I want more

**Hive Open Mic Week 121: Amor de Familia

Hello everyone! I'm so excited for this week's Hive Open Mic as the theme is about Amor de Familia or Family Love. I love this topic as I love my family so much. They are my source of strength every time I feel weak. They are my sunshine when my world is gloomy. They are my number one supporter in terms of reaching my dreams in life. They are the best thing that God has given to me and with that, I am grateful for Him.

So for today's open mic, I chose the song "Ode to My Family" in the style of the Cranberries. As I was searching about what the song is all about, I realized that the person expressing in the song is a singer who pursued her singing journey. She wrote the song because she missed her family. She was pursuing her dream though. After understanding the song, I realized that what the person in the song was doing was showing family love. Family love in a way that she wrote and sang a song dedicated to her family because she missed them.

In life, we inevitably miss our family especially when we are away from them. Sometimes, we may feel as if they still care especially when things get hectic, but I believe that our families will always be there for us. They are there supporting us and loving us in silence. So, we should be grateful for our families. Even though sometimes there will be conflict, we should still be thankful for those as they could make our bond stronger sometimes.

By the way, here's a part of the song's lyrics. If you want to find the full lyrics, you make check it here

Ode to My Family by The Cranberries

Understand the things I say

Don't turn away from me

'Cause I spent half my life out there

You wouldn't disagree

D'you, see me?

D'you see?

Do you like me?

Do you like me standing there?

D'you notice?

D'you know?

Do you see me?

Do you see me?

Does anyone care?

Unhappiness

Where's when I was young

And we didn't give a d***

'Cause we were raised

To see life as fun

And take it if we can

My mother

My mother, she'd hold me

She'd hold me

When I was out there

My father

My father, liked me

Oh, he liked me

Does anyone care?

Family is love indeed. We should cherish them while they are still here. It's inevitable to have conflict with them, but at the end of the day, we know that they are the ones that will be there for us no matter what happen. With that, we should be thankful to have them in our lives.

Thank you so much for listening! Have a great day everyone!

Hive Open Mic Week 120: Mi Felicidad

Hello everyone! I'm excited for today as it's another week for Hive Open Mic. I also get excited for this week's theme as it's about "Mi Felicidad" or in English it's translated as "My Happiness". I have thought of a lot of things in my life that I find happiness with. Be it in my workplace, in our town, in our house, or just everything that surrounds me. I even thought of songs too to choose from and sing with, but in the end, I chose the song, " I Like You so Much, You'll Know It" by Ysabelle Cuevas. For this week, I chose to offer my song to one of the reasons for my happiness which is my partner-in-crime who's always there for me through ups and downs. He's there willing to support me no matter what. And he's that someone who has so much patience towards me and with that, I'm grateful.

Here are some of the lyrics of the song:

I Like You So Much, You'll Know It by Ysabelle

I like your eyes, you look away when you pretend not to care

I like the dimples on the corners of the smile that you wear

I like you more, the world may know but don't be scared

'Cause I'm falling deeper, baby be prepared

I like your shirt, I like your fingers, love the way that you smell

To be your favorite jacket, just so I could always be near

I loved you for so long, sometimes it's hard to bear

But after all this time, I hope you wait and see

Love you every minute, every second

Love you everywhere and any moment

Always and forever I know I can't quit you

'Cause baby you're the one, I don't know how

I love you 'til the last of snow disappears

Love you 'til a rainy day becomes clear

Never knew a love like this, now I can't let go

I'm in love with you, and now you know

Furthermore, the song is so cute and if you'll listen to the lyrics, it will surely remind you of the times when the dating stage was still fresh and butterflies all over. We can't deny that those times, made us happy, too.

Anyway, I hope you like it. Have a great day everyone and more power to the people behind the Hive Open Mic; till next week!

Hive Open Mic Week 119: Prejudice

Hello everyone! It's another week of Hive Open Mic. I guess I'm not late yet to upload my entry for this week, so here it is. This week's theme is about Prejudice. To be honest, I was having a hard time thinking of what's the perfect song to sing for this week's theme. And then, I realized that I should choose a song that could somehow address prejudice. So I cane up with a decision to choose the song "Mean" by Taylo Swift. I love this song a lot because it gives a sense of hope to those who are pre-judged by other people. It's their song of comfort telling them that things will be better soon and you will no longer feel belittled by others.

Here's a part of the song's lyrics that I personally love:

Mean by Taylor Swift

Chorus:

Someday, I'll be living in the big old city

And all you're ever gonna be is mean

Someday, I'll be big enough so you can't hit me

And all you're ever gonna be is mean

Why you gotta be so mean?

The chorus speaks about the person's sense of hope that things will be better for her and the mean people will be staying as mean as they are. Maybe it's her way of protecting herself to get hurt further as well; having a sense of hope for the future.

A short message to those who are being pre-judged, hang in there, things will be better in no time; and don't be mean like them.

Hive Open Mic Week 118: Love Hurts

Hello everyone! It's another week of the Hive Open Mic world concert. I am excited on joining it as well as listening to the songs performed by other friends all around the world.

This week's theme is "Love Hurts". I have thought of a lot of songs that can relate to the them. But in the end I decided to sing the song of one of the famous singers here in the Philippines, Moira Dela Torre.

Moira's songs are mostly heartbreaking and if you are experiencing a painful break-up or sadness perhaps in life, then her songs fit perfectly with you. Her song's lyrics as well as the quality of her voice complement a lot that you will love every rhythm of the song and the lyrics would run towards your heart.

Furthermore, this week I chose the song "Before It Sinks In" by Moira. I'd like to correct what I have mentioned in the video as I only stated there "Before It Sinks. Anyway, what I love about this song is that it indeed speaks about how love hurts sometimes and even if how much you wanted to stay in the relationship, you just chose to stay away for the betterment of the situation; truly heartbreaking.

By the way, here's a part of the song's lyrics. If you want to know the full lyrics, you may check it out here.

Before It Sinks In by Moira Dela Torre

Suspended in the air

I hear myself breathing

Hanging by a thread

My heart is barely beating

I haven't fallen yet

But I feel it comin'

Tell me would it be too much to ask

If you break it to me gently

That I'm waking the next day

Without you beside me

And who I hold on to today

Tomorrow will just be a memory

That I would look back at all of this

And wonder why I stayed in here

Just to watch you disappear

Anyway, I hope you love the song and have a great day ahead!

Hive Open Mic Week 117: True Friends

Hello everyone! It's another week of joy and another week to be jolly as Hive Open Mic Week 117 comes along. I am truly excited every time.

So for this week, the theme is True Friends . There are a lot of songs about true friends, but I choose "Umbrella by Rihanna". When I first heard about this song before, it seems like it can't be connected to friendship, but as I try to understand the song, even more, I realized that the friendship that the song holds is so firm that one could analyze it's a true friendship.

There was these lines from the song that say:

When the sun shine, we shine together, Told you I'll be here forever, Said I'll always be your friend, Took an oath, I'ma stick it out to the end, Now that it's raining more than ever, Know that we'll still have each other, You can stand under my umbrella

Minus One Source

Based on that line, we can say that the friendship that they hold is firm enough that no matter what happens they will stick with each other.

Furthermore, the song will teach us a lesson that true friends will stick by our side through thick and thin. They will never leave you in vain, nor forsake you whatever happens. They are there through the sunshine and even the storms in your life. They are truly a blessing from up above.

So if you have true friends in your life, never take them for granted. Cherish them forever as they are worth cherishing. May the friendship that you have will continue to be stronger and will never be broken even if adversities arise.

Thank you for listening! Have a great day ahead.

Hive Open Mic Week 116: Trumpet Sound

Hello everyone! It's another week and another theme for Hive Open Mic concert. I am so excited because I love joining this event. Even though it's still my second time joining, I am glad since I will be able to share my love for music; even if music doesn't love me that much.

This week's theme is about Trumpet Sound. After knowing the theme, I was quite doubtful to join since I don't know how to play a trumpet and we don't have a trumpet at home. But with the eagerness I have in my heart, I find a way for me to still join the event and relate it to the theme. I used an instrumental trumpet of my song choice; credits given at the bottom part of this post.

So the song I chose is "We Don't Talk About Bruno" from the Encanto movie. I love it so much because I am a Disney fan. Like songs about Disney would warm my heart and I love to sing and listen to them all the time. I also chose the song because it reminds me of the movie as the movie holds meaningful lessons that each family could relate. One of which is that, conflict is inevitable, but if the bond is strong enough and if we prevail the love that we have for out family, everything will be mended in the end.

I hope you enjoy the song. Have a great day!

We Don’t Talk About Bruno (Encanto) Lyrics

[Chorus]

We don't talk about Bruno, no, no, no

We don't talk about Bruno, but...

[Verse 1]

It was my wedding day (It was our wedding day)

We were getting ready

And there wasn't a cloud in the sky (No clouds allowed in the sky)

Bruno walks in with a mischievous grin (Thunder)

You're telling this story or am I? (I'm sorry, mi vida, go on)

Bruno says, "It looks like rain" (Why did he tell us?)

In doing so, he floods my brain (Abuela, gets the umbrella)

Married in a hurricane (What a joyous day, but anyway)

Hive Open Mic Week: 115

Hello everyone! This is my first to join the Hive weekly concert and since I love singing (even if my voice doesn't cooperate with me, sometimes), I want to share to you the song that I have in mind which relates to the theme.

This week's theme is about "Doing the Work". After reflecting on the theme, I have thought of a lot of songs that fit in perfectly to the theme. In the end, I chose the song " When Will My Life Begin" by Mandy Moore. I love Disney songs so much that I chose the song more than anything else.

I chose it because it talks about doing the work tasks at home. It's about stating the tasks that she did all day. Now, it reminded me of my quarantine days where all that I did was to clean the house, watch movies, do my hobbies, and a lot more. I remember singing this song a lot during the quarantine season. I can't go out that time, so I can relate to the song that much; just doing the chores at home.

I hope you like the song.

When Will My Life Begin

by: Mandy Moore (Soundtrack of Tangled: The Series)

Seven a.m., the usual morning lineup

Start on the chores and sweep 'till the floor's all clean

Polish and wax, do laundry, and mop and shine up

Sweep again, and by then it's like 7:15

And so I'll read a book

Or maybe two or three

I'll add a few new paintings to my gallery

I'll play guitar and knit

And cook and basically

Just wonder when will my life begin?

Can you relate to the song as well?
