If you are a fan of overdressing at happy hour and negging it’s been a pretty solid May for you. Winter is finally letting go of its death grip and you can finally throw on a pair of shorts without the least bit of irony. And best of all, one of your beloved clubs has a chance for European glory. This week the boys give the Europa League its time in the spotlight, Chelsea and Arsenal had the chance to make history with an all English European Championship.

Chelsea had a much steeper climb against a strong Eintracht Frankfurt club they drew with on Leg 1. After another 120 minute stalemate it came down to Kepa Arrizabalaga and some heroic saves to secure a trip to scenic Baku that definitely didn’t bribe UEFA to have a final in Azerbaijan.

Arsenal had a much easier bout against Valencia who had no answer for the combination of striker and unapologetic chach, Pierre Emerick Aubamayeng and Alexandre Lacazette.

Which brings us to Championship Sunday, a Premier League event in itself where all teams play at the same time to ensure that no fuckery takes place. Thanks to Big Head Bastard’s big boot from hell, the championship race was all but over. Though Brighton gave Liverpool fans a bit of hope, it was short lived as Sergio Aguero and crew sashayed their way to a dominant win to repeat as Champions.

Meanwhile at Old Trafford things have been off the rails all year and it came to a very rewarding conclusion for fans of shitshows. Cardiff City waltzed into town and slid two goals past the 14 year old occupying David De Gea’s body on their way back down to the Championship. It all came to a head with Paul Pogba being attacked by fans because he’s responsible for giving Phil Jones a contract extension. Set Piece Hall of Farmer, Patrice Evra, was so disgusted he hit Gary Neville up on WhatsApp and told him to bring a camera crew.

We whip through Europe to check in the wind down of domestic competition. Neymar gets a slap on the wrist for punching a fan in France and Bayern Munich bless the streets with a new kit. In Spain, the winds of change are aggressive and unkind. Zinedine Zidane is not resting on his laurels, letting it be known who won’t be seeing him in his sexy jeans next season. Soccer star and black person enthusiast, Antoine Griezmann, pledged his loyalty to Atletico Madrid a year ago with a Lebron style documentary but time has changed and Messi’s call is a bit louder as he announced that this year will be his last with Simeone and the squad.

In Merica, Zlatan tries to choke out a goalkeeper and Cocaine D gets the stunning documentary he deserves. Gary Neville dodges beer on his way to work, “David De Gea” forgets who his girlfriend is. All this on another edition of the Set Piece.

The Pool Boys had their backs against the wall in two big competitions this week, after losing at the Camp Nou to Barca and blowing a big chance on an away goal, they had to collect themselves for a big matchup in the Premier League against their old Manager and Pizza Sub enthusiast, Rafa Benitez. Only a win would keep pressure on Manchester City and it took Divock Origi, wearing a Big Shot Bob costume, coming on as a sub for the injured Salah to settle things once and for all.

Which only led to an even bigger letdown when the Big Head Bastard ignored his teammates and dropped the thunder strike of his life to all but hand back to back Premier League titles to Manchester City.

Which led to Tuesday’s Second Leg vs Messi and the boys, Liverpool needed to shut out a squad littered with World Class players and score four of their own. Origi’s poacher’s mentality and a cheeky cheap shot from Luis Suarez led to a 3-0 Liverpool lead with the striking blow coming from a heads up moment from a 20 year old local legend with balls the size of Sam Cassell.

While The Set Piece boys were catching their breath and dreaming of Gini Wijnaldum tattoos, across town guys wearing jeans and sport coats to work furrowed their brows. Their beloved Spurs were headed to Ajax to face a scrappy, technically gifted, polite squad with an away goal advantage. To top it off their Knight of the White Wall is wearing compression skinny jeans and off the pitch. With their Champions League hopes hinging on a Korean striker they slur and a tiny Brazilian.

Tottenham only needed to win to advance, but after the first half they were down 2-0 and looked ready to concede more. Their Dutch counterparts fell victim to two second half quick fire goals and nerves of the moment as their shorts were weighed down by the shit in their pants and Lucas Moura shot himself into Tottenham Hotspur history in the final seconds.

This sets up for Bromaggedon, with the Pool Boys and Bros meeting up in Madrid, winner gets the Champions League trophy.

In Merica, Wayne Rooney is still dealing with his past missteps with the Daily Mail giving Helen Wood a platform to shill her latest shot at 15 more minutes of fame and keep poor Wayne away from his beloved video games. Diego Maradona will have to spend another year in Liga MX 2 and the USSF responds to the USWNT’s lawsuit.

If you happen to be a Liverpool fan, it's been a trying week. Manchester City survived the trap game of all trap games away against a scrappy Burnley squad by the slimmest of margins, then ran into Papa Messi who just happens to be Super Saiyan right now.

Pat does a welfare check on Mario and Devon to see if another season without a trophy will cause a slow descent into madness. And they all root for the pressure of the next few weeks to manifest in fans expelling bodily fluids.

While Liverpool and City play at high levels, the rest of the Top four continue to play hot potato. Tottenham’s Knight of the White Wall, Harry Kane, made an appearance pitchside to watch West Ham and Michael Antonio glide their dick and balls across Tottenham’s face like a passed out pledge at a Sig Eps kegger. Manchester United keeper, David De Gea, continues to stoke our body switch conspiracy by giving up a soft goal, allowing United and Chelsea to take one point from the clash.

In Merica, Wayne Rooney is back to scoring goals for DC United but Helen Wood had to bring up some old shit just when Coleen was starting to let him play video games on weeknights again. Wood, while shopping her latest book talks about an event she’s spent her whole career as a reality star trying to avoid, her threesome with Wayne in 2009. Wood discusses the fallout from that tryst that she’s been trying to avoid and totally not keep relevant.

In our European Whiparound, surprise, something’s going on at PSG. A team built by a 13 year old kid with a copy of FIFA18, a PS4 and his grandmother’s credit card are underperforming. This week, they lost the Coupe De France, Neymar in next year’s Champions League, Kylian Mbappe and to Montpelier in 7 days. All while being told to man up by a petulant Ney, who is most likely out for a bit of this season and next for applying the world’s softest chin check. There can only be two reasons for this drop off, they are either acting out in response to Thomas Tuchel’s contract extension, or Drake has been taking photos in a PSG turtleneck for the last couple weeks.

In WTF Bro? FIFA doesn’t care about black people and undercooked Brits continue to come for James McClean. Barcelona cult icon, ”The Observer” looks back on the moment that made him and Harry Kane continues to make miraculous recoveries from lower leg injuries but he’s definitely not being cloned or anything like that.

All that and more on The Set Piece, brought to you by steely bedroom gaze of Stepfan and the sexy sounds of Ronaldinho.

The Race for the Championship rages on in the Premier League as City and Liverpool have spent the past few weeks exchanging wins and this weekend was no different. While the top two teams are rising to the occasion, the other four teams vying for Champions League football are finishing the season with a thud. Chelsea were being bullied by Burnley and Arsenal felt the wrath of a Wolverhampton pimp slap.

In France, PSG have two reasons to party. Ney is back in the team and they won another Ligue 1 championship. It was also time to celebrate a hard earned Scudetto for TDB and the boys. We look at his championship haul over the years and try to guess which personnel will be with the Tanned One come September.
