What did you do over the summer? If you are like me you probably saw a few movies. One of the many theatrical releases I watched during my vacation was the Barbie movie. As I wrestled with the director's interpretation I felt a little perplexed trying to discern the cultural phenomena. What was the attraction? What was the main theme of the movie? What life lessons should I deduce? As Christians we should be compelled to engage our culture in dialogue whenever media offers us a contradiction to the word of God. Join us as we attempt to share from scripture who Jesus says we are.

In celebration of Pentecost we remember when the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. ” Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?” Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”

We ask you the same question. Have you had too much wine?

The late Bernie Mac a Chicago comedian had a line he would say in his stand up routine and sometimes on television. He would say Who Ya Wit and I’m sure every time he mentioned it, he was probably referring to who are your people. Today whenever I hear it I listen intently to hear what context people are using it in. Bernie certainly meant who are your peeps.

When I think about the phrase Who Ya Wit I always think of the Lord being the Only One in my life I am wit. Today’s devotional will focus on the scripture passage in Daniel 3 and outlines specifically how to combat peer pressure and provide a few suggestions on who you really need to be wit!

Have you heard the phrase "A dead man walking?" It is the term the prison system uses when an inmate is being transferred from his cell on death row. The reason for this phrase is to inform those who may encounter him that he can be a risk to your personal safety simply because he has nothing to lose.

In the spiritual realm why do we act as if we have nothing to lose, especially since we know as Christ Ones we have an eternity in Heaven waiting for us. If that is the case we should be dead men walking as it relates to our desires, selfishness, and especially dead to our sins. Join us as we expound on the scripture reference of
Romans 2:1-13

When Jesus said IT IS FINISHED  he was referring to his sacrificial death on the cross to pay for all of the sins we have committed and the ones in the future. He was effectively saying to us that our sins are never to be remembered any more  they are as far as the east is from the west.  Jesus by saying it is finished was saying to us that His crucifixion was signed, sealed and delivered and we are His.

The Acts Chapter 2 church had themselves together. They were devoted to the apostles teaching, they fellowship with one another, were in constant prayer, they performed signs and wonders , they had everything in common. They also sold their property and gave the proceeds to those who were in need. They met on a daily basis at the temple and fellowshipped enjoying the favor of all the people in the community. The Lord blessed them and there was a lot of people coming to salvation because of this early church model.

Why can't today's church replicate this? We have the same Holy Spirit as they had. Why is it difficult? Time is running short. Let's start being this type of church.

One of my favorite pastimes is watching wrestling every Friday evening. It’s only because it’s the only show that makes me laugh hysterically. I love the hype, glitter the arrogance of the participants thinking they are really doing something. I especially love that it is all staged. The best part is when one of the opponents is thrown to the ground and they begin to count. If the referee counts to 3 that signifies that the one on the ground is the loser. And because the entire event is well orchestrated as soon as the referee is at 2 the person on the ground immediately arises and continues as if nothing ever happen. In the spiritual realm this is how we defeat the devil. Yes we may go down for the count but before our opponent can count to 1, 2, 3 we are back up again.

Join me as I focus on the book of Job, and try to convey the importance of being committed to the will of the Lord even when the challenges arrive.

In Part One of Mental Health First Aid we examined strategies that could assist individuals who are impacted with mental health unwellness on how to be victorious. We commented on how mental health challenges may be biological or chemical imbalances in nature and after we determine that they may have another source we acknowledged that many mental health impairments can result from spiritual warfare. It can happen when we open the door to demonic activity because we are in a pattern of sin. Although the Christ One who has the Holy Spirit residing in Him may never be possessed by demonic spirits we may unaware invite mental health challenges into our lives through demonic oppression.

The bible is not silent on the issue of mental health and in today’s episode I will identify who we are in Christ, how we allow the enemy of our souls to infiltrate our minds resulting in impairments and how we overcome demonic activity as it relates to our mental health.
