You can have support in your law firm. You can have a team. You can even have systems in place… but still feel like everything runs through you.

This episode is for law firm owners who are technically “delegating,” but are still the center of the business.

In this episode, Brittany breaks down what it actually takes to build a self-managed law firm, one where the business continues to run, grow, and generate revenue without you being in the daily operations or client work.

Topics covered:

  • Why most law firm owners stay stuck in operator mode even after hiring help
  • The four layers that determine whether a firm can function without its owner: leadership, support, structure, and sales
  • The real reason most owners don’t execute on hiring or systems (and it’s not strategy)
  • How limiting beliefs quietly keep you in the center of the business longer than necessary

If you’ve been saying “I know I need to hire” or “I know I need systems” for months (or longer), this episode will show you what’s actually getting in the way.

You have support. You’ve delegated tasks.

You might have stepped back from some of the day-to-day.

But intake is still yours.

This episode is for law firm owners who still haven’t quite figured out how to get out of the sales process. Intake is the last thing most owners hand off, and this episode is about why that is, and what it actually takes to build a system that closes clients without you in it.

In this episode, Brittany breaks down the distinction between being the face of your firm and being its salesperson — two roles most owners are playing at the same time that were never meant to be the same job.

Topics covered:

  • Why law firm owners end up in every intake call — and the specific belief that keeps them there
  • The difference between being the reason someone called and being the person who takes the call
  • Why intake delegation fails — and the two root causes: an incomplete handoff and the wrong person in the role
  • What a fully delegated sales system looks like: the three-part pitch, the four-part intake call, and the training process
  • How to move someone from script → mock calls → live shadowing → full handoff
  • What becomes available — in time, mental energy, and the way you show up — when intake is no longer yours

You can have a successful, multiple six-figure law firm and still feel like everything runs through you.

This episode is for the law firm owner who has a team, has revenue, has momentum… but still feels like the business depends on them to function.

In this episode, Brittany breaks down the real difference between six-figure and seven-figure law firms, why most founders hit a ceiling that looks like success, and the four-part framework she uses with every coaching client to build a self-managed firm that can scale beyond the founder.

She also shares the story of a coaching client who went from $35,000 months to consistent $100,000 months, and why the growth didn’t happen because she worked more, but because she removed herself from the center of the business.

Topics covered:

  • Why multiple six-figure firms often hit a ceiling even when the business is “working”
  • The difference between being the most valuable person in your firm vs building the most valuable firm
  • The Freedom Factors framework: Leadership, Support, Structure, and Sales
  • Why scaling isn’t about doing more, it’s about building differently
  • How founder-dependent businesses become self-managed companies
  • What actually changes inside a firm when it moves from operator-run to owner-led

You have a team. You've delegated. But you're still the first call when anything goes sideways.

This episode is for law firm owners who are stuck in that loop—employees keep coming to them with questions they should handle on their own, work comes back wrong, and the owner ends up stepping back in.

The root of this pattern almost never comes down to the person. It comes down to the handoff.

In this episode, Brittany walks through the three root causes behind this pattern, the 5-part handoff structure that actually transfers responsibility, how to reset a delegation that's already broken, and a tool called the one-liner that changes employee behavior over time — not just after one conversation.

Topics covered:

  • How to identify whether you have a people problem, a systems problem, or a leadership problem—and what to do about each

  • The 5 elements every successful handoff requires: clarity, instructions, standards, timeline, and checkpoints

  • How to reset a handoff that's already gone wrong (even if you've had the conversation before)

  • The power of the one-liner: one phrase that trains employees to self-manage consistently, without micromanaging

She was working nonstop.

Revenue was stuck at $35K months.
Her team wasn’t performing.
Everything still ran through her.

And from where she was standing, it didn’t look fixable.

If you’ve ever looked at your numbers and thought, I’m working too hard for this level, this will feel familiar.

Because at a certain point, pushing harder stops being the issue.

And yet… nothing shifts.

What’s covered:

  • What you need to hit six-figure months
  • Why your business still collapses back onto you
  • How hiring more people can quietly increase your workload
  • The ceiling you keep hitting, even though your effort keeps increasing

If you keep telling yourself, Once we hit the next number, it’ll finally feel different

But it hasn’t…

There’s a reason.

You didn’t start your business to feel constantly behind and overwhelmed in your own life.

And yet, here you are.
Working more than you expected.
Thinking about work even when you’re not working.
Wondering how “freedom” somehow turned into pressure you can’t step away from.

This episode is for the moment when you realize something feels off… but you can’t quite name why.

What's covered:

  • Why your days feel dictated by obligation instead of choice
  • The quiet ways misalignment shows up as exhaustion, procrastination, or resistance
  • How you can be successful on paper and still feel like something isn’t working
  • Why trying to fix your schedule hasn’t fixed the problem
  • What keeps you stuck repeating a version of business you didn’t actually choose

If you’ve ever thought, “This isn’t what I meant to build,” this episode will help you see what’s really happening beneath the surface, and why clarity is the starting point for everything else.

You want more. More freedom. More ease. More money, better relationships, bigger experiences.

You're motivated. You're intentional. You're doing the inner work.

So why does your next level still feel just out of reach?

Most people assume the problem is effort, strategy, or discipline. It's not.

There's a hidden gap between wanting more and believing it's actually available to you. This episode breaks down what creates that gap… and the lever that closes it.

What's covered:

  • What you're doing that keeps your beliefs stuck (even when you're motivated)
  • Why your goals still feel unrealistic despite how much you think about them
  • The missing ingredient that makes your next level feel attainable
  • What's silently shaping your identity more than any strategy you implement
  • How you're accidentally keeping yourself at a distance from what you want

If your desire is clear but movement feels slower than it should, the solution starts with identifying what's missing in your environment.

Team members missing deadlines. Clients not getting callbacks. Work declining in quality. Most business owners assume it's an employee problem. But not necessarily.

In this episode, I walk through the foundational causes of team accountability failures; the actual breakdowns I've diagnosed across all types of service-based businesses. These are architecture problems, which means they're fixable once you know where to look.

What's covered:

  • What you're doing that nearly guarantees your employees' repeated failure
  • Why your employees aren't changing their behavior
  • The foundational requirements to "fire-fast, hire-slow"
  • How to identify when the issue actually is the person (and handle the exit without drama)

This is diagnostic. If your team isn't performing, the solution starts with identifying the correct problem.

Most people think they know exactly what they want… a bigger business, a new house, financial freedom.

But here’s the truth: sometimes the “goal” we’re chasing isn’t actually our true desire. It’s the feeling we think that goal will give us, such as ease, respect, freedom, or joy.

In this episode of The Lawyer Britt Podcast, I’m sharing how to identify your soul goals, the ones that actually align with how you want to feel and live day-to-day. I’m also opening up about my own experience of realizing that building a huge law firm wasn’t what I truly wanted, and how I pivoted into alignment.

If you’ve ever felt stuck, second-guessed your goals, or wondered if you’re walking the wrong path, this episode will help you uncover what you really desire.

Most people think manifesting is about vision boards and wishful thinking. I don’t.

In this episode, I’m sharing the real story behind how I manifested my dream second home in the mountains—not necessarily with a 10-step plan, but by addressing the beliefs that were secretly holding me back.

It’s not about the house. It’s about learning how to make space for your next level—even when it feels “too big,” “too much,” or “too soon.”

The Expansion Method is where I teach the exact process I used to manifest this home—and every next-level desire in my life and business.

You don’t need a 5-year plan or a 10-step funnel. Sometimes the most powerful business shift starts with… a single walk around the block.

In this episode, I’m sharing the surprisingly simple habit that became the foundation for everything I’ve built—from launching my law firm in 2020 to surpassing $1 million in revenue our first year, and many millions since.

What started as a morning walk to clear my head turned into the catalyst for some of the biggest decisions—and biggest wins—of my life.

Whether you're scaling your first team or just trying to get unstuck, this episode is a reminder that big changes don’t always start with strategy.

Sometimes they start with one small step.

P.S. I’m opening up a few spots for 1:1 coaching in my Proximity program for women ready to hit the $1M mark without burnout. If you’re craving experienced, behind-the-scenes guidance from someone who’s done it, go to lawyerbritt.co/proximity or DM me “Proximity” on Instagram.

  • The unexpected way your energy is impacting your visibility and engagement
  • A behind-the-scenes look at how I found Chelsea and how we began an incredible working relationship

Between 2020-2022, I put so much energy into my business. I was out there making connections, creating content, building my team, and setting up the firm for success.

But in 2023, I took a lot more time off. I was still running my business, but I took a step back to enjoy the fruits of my labor. I traveled to multiple continents, took time to reconnect with friends, and enjoyed my move into a new house.

Still, we brought in more clients than the year before and have been generating hundreds of thousands in revenue every single month.

And that’s because of all the hard work I’ve put into building out systems and processes over the years.

One of those systems (and maybe the most important) is the sales system that consistently brings new clients to my firm—Without me having to do all the talking and schmoozing.

That’s exactly what I’m breaking down for you in this podcast episode.

This 2-step sales system is part of my Process, Pitch, People, Profit™ framework I teach inside my group coaching program for female lawyers: https://www.lawyerbritt.co/ceo-club

Morning routines are all the rage in the world of entrepreneurship:

Wake up at 5am.

Journal.

Meditate for 30 minutes.

Drink green juice.

Take an ice-cold shower.

With all the hype, you’d think that a strict 7-step morning routine is the key to your success – but that’s not exactly the case. I mean, I run a multi-million dollar company, and I don’t even set an alarm (or do much of the other items on that list, for that matter).

What I share in this episode will help you create your own million-dollar morning routine – one that works for your lifestyle, your needs, and your desires – so you can function at your best every day.

Before you dive into this episode, listen to the previous one: What You Need to Do to Be Successful if you haven’t already. In that episode, I lay the groundwork by sharing my thought process for making the right decisions for my business and life.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but…

You don’t need to join the 5 am club, follow some guru’s 5-step process, or check a bunch of boxes off a list to be successful.

The truth is – success doesn’t come from following orders or following steps A to Z perfectly (unless you want to follow someone’s cookie-cutter formula that may or may not align with how you want to run your business or what you want your life to look like…)

So, in this episode, instead of giving you another 5-step plan, I’m sharing the decision-making process that has gotten me to where I am today.

Are the riches really in the niches?

I see way too many law firm owners making the same mistake - they try to do it all. They want to say yes to every single case.

While that may seem like a good idea when you’re first starting your firm… is it really a good idea for long-term growth?

Listen to this week’s podcast episode to find out whether it’s better to niche down or take it all. We’ll be talking all about how I set my firm up for success from the start (landing 100 cases in the first 100 days!) and important things to consider for the future of your firm.

You’ll walk away with a clear answer as to whether you need to niche down your law firm.

Making 7 figures is simple.

Notice I didn’t say “easy”. Getting to $1M is not easy.

But it is possible.

My 10-step program (if you will) breaks down how I grew my business to 7-figures in just one year, without tons of capital and without exhausting myself.

And today I’m sharing these steps with you.

You might think I’ll say you need to work 25/8 and have lots of cash reserves and investment capital.

I won’t.

In fact, steps 1-7 don’t require any money at all. They just require YOU.
And they don’t require you 24/7 if you follow my steps correctly.

Tune into the full episode to hear my 10 simple steps to making 7-figures.

You know video is important… you want to start creating and posting videos… but let me guess: You feel awkward, you feel stupid, and you’re worried about being judged. Am I right?

I get it. Believe it or not, I was once pretty shy, and showing up on video didn’t come naturally to me. HOWEVER, I didn’t let that stop me.

In this episode, I’m going to be sharing 5 common problems with being on video AND my solutions.

Here are a few points I talk about:
-What to do when you don’t know what to talk about
-Overcoming the fear of being judged
-What to do when you “mess up” or stumble over your words (because believe me, you will)

Tune into the full episode to hear all of my solutions to the problems you have with being on video. It’s time to shift your “I can’t” into “I will, and I will do it scared.”

Here’s the truth…

You don’t need to start a business to be happy.

I talk a lot about starting your own business because I did it, and it made me happy… but what makes me happy doesn’t have to make you happy. We all define happiness differently.

In this episode of The Modern Professional Podcast, I’m talking about all the different ways to achieve the life of your dreams, WITHOUT starting a business (if starting a business doesn’t sound appealing to you yet, or at all).

Here are a few points I talk about:
-How to achieve the “laptop lifestyle” and “dream life” without a business
-Hitting high numbers with ease
-Building a “book of business”
-What it means to brand yourself

This is not a typical podcast episode. This was part of a recent live stream I did with two very ambitious and incredible female lawyers, who also happen to be my good friends.

Here are a few points we talk about:

-Why sucky systems will prevent your success
-The strategies and online tools we’ve all used to grow and scale our firms

As a business owner, you can only do so much. Whether you like it or not, as your business grows, you will have to give up total control over certain tasks and responsibilities.

If you’re not already marketing your business on social media, it’s time to start.

I am a HUGE advocate for social media marketing - it’s the quickest way to get your business started, it gives you the most reach, and it has the best ROI. Think about it, your content lives on the platforms 24/7 and it’s a free form of advertising. In my opinion, every business owner should be utilizing social media to their advantage.

In today’s episode, I want to dive into the important elements your Instagram profile should have in order to create a great first impression. This checklist will be helpful for you whether you’re totally new to social media marketing or even if you already have a following growing.

Here are a few points I cover in this episode:
-The power of clarity on your Instagram profile - from your name and bio. (I also share how to rank your profile for higher searchability through your profile name.)
-How to set up the most optimized link for your Instagram profile that allows your followers to easily connect with you.
-Location, location, location! Why it’s so important to include a location in your profile.
-What to consider when you look at your following to followers ratio, and why it matters.

To hear me dive deeper into all these points, be sure to listen to the full episode. These are KEY things every business owner should have on their Instagram profile if they’re looking to grow and hit the 10k+ followers mark.

If you want to have a business you need 2 things:

Systems
People

I started my virtual law firm in October 2020 and I hired my very first team member 4 days in. I didn't wait to start onboarding a team. Instead, I put systems into place from the very beginning to support a team. I knew that would be the only way to scale.

My first team member was a virtual assistant—and now our team has 5. Outsourcing for help and hiring VAs for your business can be extremely beneficial. It's cost-effective AND efficient.

If you're looking to start scaling and bringing on a team (which I HIGHLY recommend) then this episode is going to be super valuable for you. I'm diving into all of the benefits of hiring a VA, and how VAs allow you to finally grow the biz of your dreams!

Here are a few points I cover in this episode:
-The importance of breaking out of the cycle of doing ALL the things yourself.
-The difference between bringing on a VA vs. a full-time team member.
-Where to find VAs.
-How to hire a VA and set them up for success.

To hear me dive deeper into all these points, be sure to listen to the full episode. It’s time to finally scale your business and grow your team! VAs are a great way to do just that.

“I want to post on social media, I just have no time”

Does this sound like you? You’re not alone. I get a lot of business owners and content creators asking me how I manage to juggle all of my responsibilities as the owner of a law firm who manages a team and also show up consistently on social media.

The answer is actually… quite simple.

It’s because I decided to. I decided to have enough time. I decided to make the time for what’s important to me. I’ve done this by creating a system. This system has 3 steps, prioritization, planning, and deciding.

I’ll dive into all of these steps with you in this episode. While this system works really well for me, keep in mind that it’s not meant to be a one-size-fits-all. Take what works, leave what doesn’t.

Here are a few points I cover in this episode:

-The first step in my system, prioritization. What determines a priority? And how you can work backwards to determine yours.
-The importance of goal setting and how to break down your goals in a way that’s attainable.
-The second step in my system, planning. Why is planning so important before you take action? I’ll share some of my favorite ways to plan and how I time block my days to get what I need done.
-How to maintain flexibility while you plan your commitments.
-The third step in my system, deciding. How I’ve been able to achieve everything to this point by simply deciding and you can too.
-The power in realizing that you’re in control.

To hear me dive deeper on all these points, be sure to listen to the full episode. I can’t express how often I hear and see other business owners struggling with time management, and while I completely understand, just know that you are the one at the end of the day in control! You can determine how you show up and what gets done.

I get a lot of shit done but I also watch a lot of Netflix, if I’m being honest. If I can do it, so can you. Give this 3 step system a go and let me know how it works for you.

In episode 4 of The Modern Professional Podcast, I want to dive into the top 7 essential tools every virtual law firm owner needs! Whether you’re solo or with a team, these tools are going to be a game-changer to making sure your law firm runs more efficiently AND smoothly…

I opened my law firm in October 2020 completely virtually. And it’s still completely virtual. I’m able to do this with my team because we’ve implemented online platforms and tools to make it possible to work remotely.

Here’s the cool reality of this time in our lives, we’re surrounded by such incredible power with technology. You can start an online business today if you wanted to, you can run an entire firm from your couch, the opportunities are literally endless.

So, if you’re looking to run your own virtual law firm, this episode is for you!

Here are a few points I cover in this episode:

-The importance of structuring your firm around tools you may need in the future vs. what you just need right now.
-Tool #1: Practice management software. This will be crucial for keeping track of your cases.
-Tool #2: File storage. This includes platforms like Google Drive, Dropbox, somewhere you can store documents.
-Tool #3: External communication for your business.
-Tool #4: Internal communication for your team. THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE!
-Tool #5: Phone service. You can set up service through an app on your phone where you’ll receive all business-related calls, texts, etc… through that number.
-Tool #6: Accounting software. This is something a lot of law firm owners either forget or often assume isn’t too important. If you avoid getting software for accounting, when tax season comes around you’re in for a rude awakening!
-Tool #7: My favorite resources for social media marketing and content creation. While your business scales and grows, you eventually need to automate and systemize your social media marketing efforts. I’ll share my favorite tools to do so.
-A bonus tool #8! You’ll have to tune into the episode to find out what this one is.

To hear me dive deeper on all these points, be sure to listen to the full episode. I hope this episode is helpful for you and that you can take away some resources for your own virtual law firm.

Welcome to the VERY first episode of The Modern Professional Podcast. After launching my own law firm using nothing but a laptop and social media, other professionals always ask exactly how I did it and what it took to be successful.

I had to make this podcast not only for you, the modern lawyer wanting to start your own law firm but for all professionals looking to start a business from scratch using the power of social media. All of your burning questions will finally be answered in this podcast!

To kick things off, we’re tackling the number 1 question I get asked: How much money do you even need to start your own business? You’d be surprised by the answer.

This episode is inspired by a poll I ran on Instagram recently. I asked professionals when they wanted to start their own business, and not to my surprise, most people replied back within 2-5 years. I went further and asked why the wait? The common response was to save money, whether that be for capital or living expenses.

Let’s address this because if you believe that you need to wait and wait to save up enough money, I have news for you. In fact, I want to do a little reality check because more often than not, this is just an excuse as to why you can’t start the business you keep thinking about.

Here are a few points I cover in this episode:

-How you can start your own professional firm or business (without tons of money saved)
-How to start bringing in consistent clients even BEFORE you’ve started your business.
-My top tips and recommendations on how to determine how much money you should save.
-The power of a marketing system.
-Determining what’s essential vs. what you only desire.

To hear me dive deeper on all these points, be sure to listen to the full episode. I hope you can take away a lot of value and inspiration from this to realize that starting your very own business is completely attainable and more in your reach than you realize.
