This podcast first became an idea during the summer of 2021. The show was eventually released in the summer of 2022. Brian Woodcock is the creator and host of the platform. The intention was to create a version of storytelling that spun Brian's personal story into something that could help bring value to others. Although personal hardships took a toll on Brian, he ultimately came out a better person who then decided to help others by sharing his story and what he had learned. Hardships can be difficult to get through, but the experience is often more common and less lonely than we first realize. Life can throw quite a bit at your to make things more difficult and frustrating. In order to help cope with and even grow your life's journey, this platform goes over topics of common struggles and then provides problem solving and advice to help you keep moving forward.
Today is an update episode on my platform and my personal life. I'm realizing that change is needed for growth. Sometimes it's uncomfortable and difficult to deal with, but adapting to it is necessary. Having the support to get through it is also critical for helping yourself out and managing tough times. All of this is helpful for things like personal growth, personal journey development, shifting behavior, personal development, healthy habits that changed my life, motivational example, opening up, my mental health journey, opening up, and personal journey’s development.
Didn't really have much to say this week. Adding in a raw, unedited episode just to stick to my weekly schedule. I got some bad news regarding a family member having cancer. I'm devastated by the news and I feel lost. I decided to post an episode describing my feelings since Coping with Good Enough is partly my version of therapy. I wanted to show my audience what it means to be vulnerable. What it means to be hurting. Even with all of my knowledge and coping mechanisms, sometimes we just fall apart. I'm not sure if this episode will help anyone out there who is listening or perhaps it's just to help me feel better.
State dependent memory is an interesting phenomenon in which memory is stronger when a similar situation is replicated. Its profound effects are felt during environmental, emotional, or even drug induced situations. Hopefully, this memory explanation helps to minimize bad days and maximize productivity with recalling what you need to know. All of this is helpful for things like personal growth, personal journey development, shifting behavior, personal development, healthy habits that changed my life, motivational example, opening up, my mental health journey, opening up, and personal journey’s development.
When you’re upset you may only remember sad, negative events. Getting yourself out of that situation may improve your ability to remember happy, positive events. Additionally, building a consistent routine in your academic or career journey such as what you wear, listen to, or regularly interact with may help you recall information better.
Passion projects are self-motivated endeavors that we are very interested in. Many people seem afraid to start or share their passion project. I hope to boost confidence to create and share your passion project. It’s a big part of personal growth, personal journey development, shifting behavior, and overall a good motivational example. Your personal development can be improved with healthy habits that changed my life. All of this is a continuation of my mental health journey, opening up, and my personal journey’s development. Hopefully, this video convinces individuals to either make time to begin their passion project idea, or to feel the confidence needed to overcome the fear of failure or the fear of judgment. Life is stressful enough as it is without feeling like you’re able to chase dreams that bring you joy. Even better is being able to share those dreams with those that you care about.
The decision making process can be difficult. One example I wanted to discuss was whether you have perseverance in chasing a goal or decide to cut your losses. This is important for your personal growth and your personal journey development. Shifting behavior can be a part of personal development which helps you on things such as my mental health journey. Opening up can prove to be a motivational example in which I share healthy habits that changed my life. I hope to give yet another philosophical mental exercise in which I go over the differences between people such as goals, values, and risk aversion. Depending on these, you can use introspection and outcome analysis in order to determine whether you should abandon or goal or continue pressing on. You need to weigh out what will happen in either outcome and then decide which would be best for you to pick, depending upon what you learned during your introspection. I used this process for my beard, which I discuss in this episode. I used to struggle to grow facial hair and finally did it. Then I realized it wasn’t for me so I cut my losses - quite literally. It’s okay to want something and then change your mind.
Social lives are important for maintaining your health and happiness. Humans are social creatures that need social interaction to avoid depression and loneliness. As a grown adult, it can sometimes feel like you’re building a social life from scratch. I struggled with this as well. That’s why during my personal journey development I decided to find health habits that changed my life. My mental health journey was not easy and I knew personal growth was a necessity to adapt. Doing things like opening up and shifting behavior allowed me to create this feeling lonely motivation.
In this video I broke down the four pillars of a social life: family, friends, acquaintances, and significant others. Each pillar needs attention in order to maintain a healthy social life. I wanted to focus on the friends pillar as I found that this one often is one folks, such as myself, struggle with. A major step I took was being better friend to others in order to attract more quality friends. This way you can ensure each pillar can support a load relative to its strength: more people in each pillar increases the strength of that pillar. Hopefully this philosophical approach of flipping the way you think about friends can help as a motivational example.
Forming healthy habits can be a difficult journey. That’s why I decided to make an episode that further discusses my personal journey’s development. This past week was a rough one. I was sick for a few days and then got hit by Hurricane Ian. However, I made a commitment to release weekly episodes. I really wanted to focus on making a habit stick - or in this case support my passion project every single week. I also wanted to show my commitment to the phrase “practicing what you preach”. Shifting behavior is rarely an easy thing. I’ve only been submitting episodes for a little over two months now and I wanted to create a motivational example that showed me sticking to this habit. This week’s episode is shorter than the rest. It’s not as polished, but that’s okay! Part of sticking to a habit is rolling through the difficult weeks and going the best you can. That’s the point of Coping with Good Enough.
Productivity, or rather the urge to be productive, starts off as a neutral tool, but becomes good or bad depending upon how you use it. In this episode I address how harmful a productivity obsession can be especially as it relates to the 3 Ps: Perfectionism, procrastination, and productivity. The guilt and shame of being obsessed with productivity can drive you to more perfectionism and procrastination. Instead, do your best to work smarter, not harder. It’s important to realize that hustle culture is lying to you. There’s a huge cost to your mental health and my mental health journey will show you that. Instead, focus on personal growth and personal development. Learn how to manage time better as time management is one of the health habits that changed my life. Using these self care tips for mental health can considerably help you in achieving greater health and happiness.
This episode is part 3 of 3 of a 3-part series with perfectionism and procrastination. I feel that these 3 topics, which I'm referring to as the 3-P's, are a synergistic trifecta that harm health and happiness.
Procrastination is a trait that many of us have. It's characterized by putting off important tasks and instead focusing on less important, but fun ones instead. I dove into this topic due to my own personal struggles with this trait. It really took a significant toll on my mental health. If you're wondering about: how to stop procrastinating, you'll want to listen to the whole episode. I hope that my advice is able to help you with: self development, personal development, and personal growth. I also included more of my personal mental health journey. I hope that by opening up I will help you start thinking about time management and how to manage time better. I also think that being more mindful of my time is one of the healthy habits that changed my life.
Hopefully after watching the entire video, you'll feel that you should stop procrastinating. This should help you achieve a healthier mental state as well as being happier.
This episode is part 2 of 3 of a 3-part series with perfectionism and productivity. I feel that these 3 topics, which I'm referring to as the 3-P's, are a synergistic trifecta that harm health and happiness.
Perfectionism is a trait that many perfectionists have. It's characterized by aiming for the impossible and being incredibly self-critical. I dove into this topic due to my own personal struggles with this trait. It really took a significant toll on my mental health. I've learned how to move on after achieving "good enough". In fact, that's how I came up with the title: Coping with Good Enough. I made this episode with the hopes of answering a few common questions regarding this topic:
How perfectionism can be a problem?
How not to be a perfectionist?
How perfectionism makes us ill?
Hopefully after watching the entire video, you'll feel like a "good enough" approach will help you achieve a healthier mental state as well as being happier.
I plan to have this episode as a 3-part series with procrastination and productivity. I feel that these 3 topics, which I'm referring to as the 3-P's, are a synergistic trifecta that harm health and happiness.
**This episode is a continuation of Coping with Good Enough, which revolves around self-help, improvement, and coping with the world. Today, I dive into a discussion about imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is a common psychological phenomenon that isn’t a diagnosis, but rather a regularly occurring observation. You may experience feeling like a fraud while at work or at school. Don’t worry, it’s actually quite common. If you ever ask yourself: “Do I have imposter syndrome?”, this video may be able to shed some light on that question. I’ll dive into the topic and hopefully by the end you’ll have felt that satisfied that imposter syndrome was explained. Maybe you ask yourself “Why do I feel like a fraud”? This will be addressed in the video regarding your lack of confidence and how to be more confident. Taking these steps are important to boost back up your self-esteem. Whether you want to be a better worker or a better student, taking an introspective approach can be helpful. I struggled with this when I was younger so I decided to break up this video with the following:
1) My belief as to why imposter syndrome keeps affecting us.
2) What you can do to cope with imposter syndrome and boost your confidence by setting realistic expectations.**
Hopefully, today’s video gives you insight into how to look for patterns of imposter syndrome wherever you go.
**This episode is a continuation of my platform that resolves on self-help, improvement, and coping with the world. Today, I dive into a discussion about learning. Some may be interested in how to learn better and faster. Others are looking to love to learn again. At the end of the day, each student has different learning objectives. Whether you want to be a better student in school or have better student learning, taking an introspective approach can be helpful. I struggled with this when I was younger so I decided to share these three topics to help shift your perspective:
1) Learning does not end when you leave the classroom.**
2) Choosing a preferred learning style can accelerate the process.
3) Proper pacing is necessary for long-term understanding.
Hopefully, today’s video gives you an insight into how to look for patterns anywhere you go. By doing so, you’ll be able to try to learn on a near daily basis. Whether you’re still in school or have left years ago, it’s important that you are learning to be a better student by understanding the self.
This episode is a continuation of my platform that resolves on self-help, improvement, and coping with the world. Today I dive into a discussion about nutrition. However, instead of just telling you to go out and eat healthier, I focus on explaining why you need to eat healthier. I found this to be the main way I increased my motivation to eat healthier as well as improve my relationship with food. You may be wondering whether there is a brain power diet out there. Well, it turns out there is no special recipe per se. Instead, just realize that eating healthy is a major requirement for brain health. I take the time to respond to the following questions: “Can gut bacteria affect mental health?”, “what are prebiotics?”, and “what is the importance of fiber?” This will help you figure out how to increase neurotransmitters. These signally chemicals travel up to your brain and affect your mood. I’ll also briefly discuss the topic of “why is serotonin targeted by antidepressants” as well as where most of it comes from. There’s also a section in which vitamins and minerals are explained. I will also go over the relationship between nutrition and the immune system. Hopefully, you’ll be encouraged to eat better and realize that there is a lot of brain food for brain health out there.
This episode is a continuation of my platform that resolves on self-help, improvement, and coping with the world. Today I focus on exercise and helping encourage others to go out and get some more of it. Exercise is a basic requirement for health and happiness that is often neglected. Sometimes we get busy and choose to do other things with our time. Other times we think it is okay to reduce how much we exercise or even eliminate it in order to get more done today.
However, a regular, moderate intensity exercise routine can do wonders for making you feel and think better. There are numerous physical benefits that many are aware of, but it appears that this is not enough to motivate people to go out and exercise. Instead, I dive into the mental benefits in order to help try a new angle to convince people to be more physically active. It turns out that exercise is important for brain maintenance. It helps stimulate the glymphatic system which is what removes brain debris and metabolic waste that builds up during the day. Hopefully, with this new perspective, it will cause you to think twice about skipping your workout routine. Exercise even ties back to last week’s episode as exercise has been found to improve sleep quality as well. By having both good sleep and regular exercise, you invest in today in order to feel better tomorrow so you can accomplish more of your goals.
This episode is a continuation of my platform that resolves on self-help, improvement, and coping with the world. Today I focus on sleep and helping others ensure they get a proper amount of it. Sleep is a basic requirement for health that is often neglected. Sometimes we get busy and choose to do other things with our time. Other times we think it is okay to reduce our sleep or even eliminate it in order to get more done today.
However, regular, restful sleep is required to function properly. If you want to continue to grow and improve your life then you need to ensure that you are getting the proper sleep that your body needs. When you are rested, you are making an investment today that will pay off tomorrow. You will have the energy and ability to be both healthier and happier. The first step is recognizing whether you are getting proper sleep. If you're not, then you need to take the second step of maintaining proper sleep hygiene and ensuring sleep is a key priority.
This episode explores what anxiety is and how it affects us. I discuss how external stimuli are all fighting for our attention. FUD and FOMO are being used by corporations to help drive sales and profits. By being mindful of how mental health operates and what affects it, you can potentially lower stress and improve your health.
Further explore mental health and my personal experience. I discuss mental health as an area of health that needs greater recognition and less negative stigma. I encourage users to be more mindful of their mental health in order to prevent mild or moderate conditions from becoming severe.
