In 2023, Gayle Redman hit the headlines. Having entered the New York Marathon, Gayle was forced to withdraw from the event because of her requirement to carry stoma supplies and water with her.

Ben Raybould has had a mild form of Crohn's disease since 2009, which was maintained by low level drugs for a long period of time. After a period of remission, Ben found his IBD flare up again - something he thinks was caused by the stresses of the pandemic.

Having tried multiple courses of drugs, steroids and then biologics, Ben became a primary non-responder, leading to his Ileostomy in June 2022.

In this episode, Coloplast Ambassador Ben speaks about how his life has changed for the better after his operation and the need for us all to be educated on things like autoimmune disorders in our formative years.

Anna Cooper has not one but two stomas. An ileostomy formed in 2020 and a urostomy which was formed in June 2023 as a result of endometriosis.

Anna's pain started when she was just 11 years old, when she first started getting her period. The pain progressed over the next few years to include painful bowel movements and it wasn't until she was 18 that Anna was diagnosed with endometriosis.

In this episode, Coloplast Ambassador Anna speaks about how her pain was waved away as period pains, living with two stomas day to day and how an emergency appendectomy led to her receiving her correct diagnosis.

This prompted Sarah to have her own ovaries removed prophylactically.  About 6 months later she started to notice some bleeding and was diagnosed with a rectal vagina fistula. In 2016 Chris discovered a large tumor in his lower bowel and rectum. Six weeks later he went in to hospital to have the tumour removed and, after 11 hours on the operating table, Chris woke up with an ostomy, everything else removed below that, and his tumor gone.

Many people are concerned about getting a UTI when they regularly perform ISC and research shows that 40% of ISC users feel UTIs are a daily concern. On average, someone performing ISC will have 2.7 UTIs a year.
