Many of you know that I had the opportunity to speak @altsummit in Palm Springs in March. It was my first time attending this women’s conference and it won’t be my last. From the relaxed vibe to the excitement of being a part of an incredible community of women who understand what it’s like to be a creative entrepreneur. I met so many amazing people, including @danielleamelton, Founder @joinmotherboard, a true powerhouse, who is also from Tulsa. We didn’t know each other prior to attending the event and joked that we had to meet in California to connect in Oklahoma. I have had several people ask about my experience and if attending was “worth it” – the answer is a resounding yes – it’s worth it on so many levels, most importantly, your time and money is an investment in yourself and your professional journey.

Some people have big dreams, but don’t work to make them happen. Cody Mayo is not one of those people. His dream of becoming an actor began at a young age. Following high school, he earned an acting scholarship to The University of Oklahoma, where he attended college and met his wife, Casey. After graduating from college, they got married and shortly thereafter moved to Los Angeles. It didn’t take long for Cody to jump right into auditions and casting calls. Although there were plenty of rejections along the way, he preserved, and eventually gained numerous acting jobs while learning the in’s and out’s of the industry.
After a decade of building a career and a family in Los Angeles, Cody and his wife felt a pull to be closer to their own families in Oklahoma and Texas and relocated back to the Sooner State. Another big draw in their return was the explosive growth of the film industry while they were away; creating additional opportunities in the industry.
Cody’s newest endeavor is founding Cody Mayo Studios on Studio Row in Tulsa. As a certified coach, he offers his talent and expertise by providing high level acting classes for film and tv, as well as personal coaching and workshops for kids, teens and adults.

Jody McIntyre has a deep love for Tulsa. She grew up in Tulsa, raised a family and continues to serve the city in her new role as Membership Manager of the Circle Cinema. The Circle, as it’s often referred to by locals, is a treasured and historical movie theater and as a lifelong movie lover, she fits right in. Jody’s path to the Circle Cinema is fascinating. It was her love of the entertainment industry that gave her the courage to move to Los Angeles at a young age and work directly for a well-known television and movie production company.
Her strong work ethic and relentless pursuit of working for one particular company, she was able to achieve that goal. Her time in California added up to over twenty-five years but after having children, she knew she wanted to raise them in her favorite city and moved back to Tulsa. She has spent the past eighteen years working as an Executive Producer at a local television station and recently transitioned to the Circle Cinema.

It was her love of the entertainment industry that gave Jody McIntyre the courage to move to Los Angeles at a young age and work hard to land a job for a well-known television and movie production company. After months of working to land a job there, she took an entry-level position. Not where she wanted to be, but she knew that job would get her foot in the door and she would have the opportunity to demonstrate her strong work-ethic. That proved to be a great decision as she worked her way into other roles where she excelled. Her time in Studio City added up to over twenty-five years before she returned to her favorite city, Tulsa, to raise her kids. In this visit, you’ll learn how Jody’s life has come full circle, including more about her time in the entertainment industry in California, working as a local television producer for the past eighteen years and her excitement about her new role at the Circle Cinema. Have you ever heard the phrase, what you choose to focus on expands? I think there is real merit in this statement – especially when it comes to counting your blessings.
Just to make sure we're on the same page, I looked up these terms in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary:
Gratitude – the state of being grateful; THANKFULNESS
Thankful (adjective): conscious of benefit received; expressive of thanks; well pleased (GLAD)
With the holidays right around the corner – I take this time to reflect on what I’m grateful for. Having a way to keep track – either in a journal or on your phone – can help you focus on what you’re grateful for and not what you’re missing out on. I like to write 2-3 down DAILY!
You know how I am about research…there is ALOT of research confirming the importance of writing down (or recording) what you're grateful for. It keeps it front of mind!
Now, I have one product and one book that relates to gratitude that I’d like to share. One is called Turkey on the Table and is a turkey created for you to add feathers with your own words of gratitude. My friend from high school co-created this product as a way to instill gratitude in her children and what’s really cool – a portion of each turkey sold goes to Feeding America so it’s an all-around amazing product! Mia Mascarin-Oven is a fourth-generation wine maker living in Tulsa. She joined the family wine business, 32 Winds Wine, shortly after her father realized his own life-long dream of starting a wine business and opened the vineyard in 2009. Prior to joining the venture, she logged twenty plus years working in the energy industry.
Mia’s family left California and moved to Oklahoma, where she grew up and went to high school. She stayed close to her Italian immigrant family back in California through frequent visits to the family farm. She and her father, Ed Mascarin, decided to deepen their ties to their California roots by embarking on the adventure of starting a winery there. Her job duties are primarily accomplished remotely, so she is able to live anywhere and enjoys the city and lifestyle that Tulsa provides.
Mia is extremely passionate about giving back to the community and does so in a variety of ways. This interview shares more about Mia, her background of over a decade in the family wine business and why she thinks it’s important to give-back.

Husband and Wife duo, Adrienne and David Kallweit, are partners in business and in life. They are highly successful entrepreneurs who have built several businesses including, Seeking Sitters, a concept they scaled and franchised.
