It seems that everywhere you look in our nation and culture you bump into many different opinions and stances, and it seems as if fighting for something is front and center of our lives. In this series, we want to discuss what RockPoint has decided to stand on, what we are fighting for, and who we are. In this week’s message, we look at our third filter and discover how the Gospel and discipleship can allow us to be safe enough for people who don’t like the Church to discover the Gospel in a real way.

In this week’s message, we look at RockPoint’s second filter and discover what we mean by the question: “Are we Discipleship Driven?” This question is important to ask as a Church, and important for individuals to ask as well because the answer can lead to hearts deeply impacted by the Gospel.

In life, it’s not a matter of if, but when we suffer hurts and wounds. So, if this is something everyone has to deal with, then how are we supposed to deal with it? What does God have to say about proper healing for the wounds and hurts we have in our life? In Psalms 27, David shows us how God wants us to handle and deal with these hurts and wounds.

We make decisions in order to change and grow ourselves and while the idea is great, the resolutions we set tend to fail 90% of the time. In this series, we look at what Christianity teaches about how God changes us and how it brings us the life and hope we long for.
So often people set New Year’s Resolutions at the beginning of the New Year. There is something about the beginning that tends to spark thoughts in us about what we want to do differently in the new year. We can tend to see our flaws, acknowledge our weaknesses, and want to find ways to change ourselves. In this week’s message, we talk about the reality of New Year’s Resolutions and take time to reflect on the idea that we don’t have what it takes to truly change, and the solution Christianity offers us instead.

In this week’s message, we look at what Christianity says about relationships, the expectations that naturally come with them, and how we can navigate them in a life-giving way.
In our world, we seem to prioritize direct communication with others because it appears to be the most efficient way to convey what we need to say. While direct communication can be important for conveying information, we can also learn from more subtle forms of communication, like storytelling. In Jesus’ day, He used a form of storytelling called parables as a tool to let people know the work that he was doing. In this week’s message, we look at several parables Jesus told and the practical steps we can take to help us understand how they apply to our lives today.

When people bump into this reality they start to question God. In this week’s message, we begin the conversation by asking: Can we reasonably believe that God exists? In other words in a world where we can’t see God can we believe He is there?
There is something in all of us that wants to become better versions of ourselves. We want healthy relationships, help growing in our faith, understanding ourselves, and navigating life. In this week’s message, we look at the life of David, a man after God’s own heart, and yet his heart deceived him and led him down the wrong road. In the story, we are invited to look at our own hearts and see why having the right people around us is so important.
There seems to be a natural pull in local churches to start out fighting for the purity of the mission and the purpose of the Church, to be all about God and people. Oftentimes the mission is polluted when the Church begins to focus on success and security over what Jesus has called them to. In this week’s message, we look at how Jesus focused more on the heart of individuals over growing crowds, and how His example helps clarify what we should be fighting for, making disciples.
When religious and non-religious people focus on politics, law, and the justice system, they are often blinded to the complexity of it all. People often feel that politics, religion, and the law of the land can solve the things of the heart. In this message, we look at how Jesus navigated His day's political, religious, and legal realities, and how following Him can help us navigate them in our day.

Looking around culture it seems that we are all drawn to a good before and after story. We can see stories like this in less than an hour on our favorite home renovation series. We love shows like this because it highlights the mess a house was in and the amazing transformation after the project is complete. In this week’s message, we look at a “before and after” story found in scripture, how it invites us to look for the “before and after” in our own story, and how we can share the hope of Jesus with those around us.

The hope of restoration breathes hope into every broken story we face. There is hope beyond this broken world and beyond our broken stories. We see this hope in a God who doesn’t walk away from our mess, instead, He draws near to our brokenness. Most people don’t need to look to outside sources to know that they have someone in their life that they just don’t like or hate. In this message, we look to the story of Jonah to help us answer this question: What does God think about my enemies, and how should I respond based on what He thinks?
