Ah, the memories of our very first jobs - those delightful times when we embarked on our foray into the professional world. There are two kinds of first jobs. The one we had as teenagers and the one we had as adults.
As teenagers, whether it was serving frozen yogurt or managing the cash register at a retail store, these initial gigs provided us with more than just a paycheck. They served as an opportunity to learn crucial life skills, like time management and customer service, all while navigating the delicate balance between work and school. While they might not have been glamorous or high-paying positions, they were most certainly formative experiences that laid the groundwork for future career endeavors.
Then we have or first job as adults. Some of us have one right out of high school, some of us have one right out of college. This looks different for everyone. Yet, some things are the same: a new adventure filled with challenges, growth, and plenty of learning opportunities. And just like with our job as teenagers, this job experience can shape your career trajectory, build professional connections, and hopefully lay a solid foundation for future success.

Finding your voice is like discovering your unique fingerprint. It's about uncovering your own distinct style, opinions, and personality to create an authentic and powerful expression of yourself. Whether it's through writing, speaking, or any other form of self-expression, finding your voice involves tuning into your innermost thoughts and beliefs, free from the fear of judgment or conformity.
It requires taking the time to explore various influences and inspirations that resonate with you, allowing them to shape but not define your individuality. Your voice should be a reflection of who you truly are - genuine, witty, vulnerable, or even sarcastic.
Embrace imperfections and quirks as they add charm and character to the conversation. Ultimately, finding your voice is a journey towards self-discovery that empowers you to communicate with confidence and impact those around you with your unique perspective on life.

Well, here's the truth about finding your purpose in life - it's NOT a requirement!
Society often places this immense pressure on us to discover our true calling and create some grand plan for our existence. But in reality, life is an ever-evolving journey filled with countless possibilities and opportunities. Sometimes, we may stumble upon our purpose by chance, while other times, it may take years of introspection and self-discovery. And you know what? That's okay too!
The beauty of life lies in its unpredictability. Not having a clearly defined purpose in life doesn't mean you're lost or aimless. It just means that you are open to exploring different paths and embracing the growth that comes with it.
So let go of the pressure to find your purpose. Instead, embrace the uncertainty, follow your passions, try new things, and trust that eventually, your purpose will reveal itself to you when the time is right. And it if never does, that's okay too! Be free!

Childhood memories are nostalgic and are an integral part of our personal history, shaping our identity.
As people grow and evolve, their childhood memories become a reference point for evaluating experiences and emotions in adulthood. Remembering childhood events can evoke powerful emotions, particularly if there are experiences that were particularly significant or traumatic. But sometimes, there are also childhood memories that are simply that - memories for us to remember and reflect back on just to remember our childhood.
Memories of happy moments spent with family and friends or the thrill of achieving something for the first time are the stories we love to share.
Listen to hear some of Pankaj's favorite childhood memories with his family and friends.

Partner relationships and singlehood are both valid choices for someone's life. People in partner relationships have someone to share their lives with and provide emotional support but also must make compromises and potentially sacrifice some independence.
Being single offers both the opportunity for personal growth and self-discovery, as well as potential feelings of isolation or societal pressure to conform to traditional relationship norms.
However, ultimately, the decision between these options comes down to what feels most authentic and fulfilling for each individual at any given point in time. There's no one right way to live a happy life, so it's important to stay true to yourself regardless of your relationship status. A relationship status should not define a person.

Speaking to your inner child is a powerful tool that can help you understand and heal past wounds. It involves having an honest conversation with a part of yourself that still carries emotional pain from childhood. Whether it's through journaling, letter-writing, visualization, or other ways of your choosing, speaking to your inner child allows you to validate their feelings and offer words of comfort and love.
By acknowledging and addressing these emotions and memories from your childhood, you can create a sense of closure and start healing, but it requires forming new habits and continued practiced to open up this dialogue with yourself. However, the more effort and work you put into this practice, the stronger your connection with your inner child will become and the more work you can do with them.
This practice may not be necessary for everyone, and it may not be good for everyone. But if you think it may be something that would benefit you, it's worth learning more about what it means to speak to your inner child and the positive impacts it can have. And then, it's worth putting into practice.

People can change their behaviors, but no one said it would always be easy. In fact, changing ingrained habits and thought patterns can be one of the most difficult things a person can do. But with time, effort, and a good support system, real change is possible.
Before that though, you must first have the awareness of what you want or need to change, whether through self-reflection or from an outside source. Once you have awareness, without the openness and willingness to change, that change will never happen no matter what support you have. You have to WANT to make that change.
As you work on making a change, no matter what it may be, remember, every small step towards positive change brings you one step closer to living your best life.

Pet peeves are those little annoyances that may seem trivial and insignificant to others but tend to irritate us. Some stem from habits and behaviors, like forgetting to turn off the lights or chewing with your mouth open. Other common pet peeves include people being consistently late or driving slowly in the far left lanes on the road. But then there are pet peeves that seem to be unrelated to behaviors, such as hearing nails on a chalkboard.
Sometimes, it's possible to get rid of a peeve and not be bothered by something anymore, but it takes time and work to let go. Other times, there isn't really anything anyone can do. We just have to learn to live with it.
While our peeves might not seem like a big deal to some people, for those that have the pet peeves, they are real and are sometimes a huge deal. Sometimes, working with each other, listening and trying to understand each other can make all the difference in creating a comfortable and respectful environment for everyone involved.

Fear is a natural emotion that has the ability to hold us back from our full potential depending on what that fear is. Our fears may stem from past experiences, societal pressure, or self-doubt, or some fears may have no root cause. No matter what the fear is or where it stems from, if we want to overcome it, we have to first recognize and acknowledge it.
Through education, practice and support from others, or even seeking professional help, we have the opportunity and ability to conquer even our greatest fears.
Facing our fears requires courage and vulnerability, but it has the ability to lead to personal growth and liberation.

It's a common stereotype that men have a hard time listening. While it's true that some men may struggle to listen attentively, this behavior is not true for all males, nor is it exclusive to only males.
In most cases, the reason for poor listening skills lies more in individual circumstances and personality traits than gender. It could be due to distractions or disinterest, lack of practice or skill, or even a fear of vulnerability that makes active listening difficult for some people. Many times, these reasons are due to experience and circumstances. There are also societal factors such as toxic masculinity that discourage emotional openness and communication skills development for males.
It's important, no matter the person, to work to address the challenges and actively put in the work to learn how to be a better listener.

Friendships are an essential part of life, not only for emotional support but also for personal growth. Some may last forever, while others have an expiration date. Neither is bad; they are simply different, as every relationship in life is.
No matter the length of a friendship, it can be incredibly fulfilling and rewarding while they last. Relationships with our friends often provide mutual opportunities to explore new interests and/or help us broaden our perspectives on life.
It is important to make sure that you value each friendship for what it offers at the moment and appreciate every single person who brings joy into your life, whether intimately connected with them or simply acquainted for a short period of time.
On this episode, Pankaj and Priya share their thoughts on what defines friendship, quantity vs. quality of friendships, and friendship expiration dates.

Adulthood is complex and involves significant growth and development in a range of areas.
The textbook definition of adulthood is defined by achieving one or more of the following: achieving financial independence, establishing long-term relationships, clearer sense of personal identity and values, taking on greater responsibilities, and/or being a contributing member of society, both through work and volunteerism. It’s also about developing a greater sense of empathy and understanding of others.
But the concept of adulthood is not fixed or universal; rather, it is shaped by culture and society, which can differ across time and place.
It is important to recognize that our own version of adulthood may differ from those around us or from what we have been taught to expect. Ultimately, being an adult means taking ownership of our choices and actions while seeking personal growth and fulfillment in a way that aligns with our unique values and aspirations.
What does adulthood mean to you?

It is unfair to go into any type of relationship with expectations, as that puts pressure on the other person, and they don't even know it. It's also unrealistic to expect relationships to last forever. Some may, some won't.
This is because each individual in a relationship is constantly evolving and changing, which can result in new interests, goals, and values. Even external factors from work or personal issues can also negatively impact a relationship. Many times, it has nothing to do with you.
However, this does not mean that people should not commit to building healthy and fulfilling relationships. Rather than focusing on the finite idea of forever, people should prioritize open communication, mutual respect, and acknowledging that challenges will arise along the way. And no matter what happens with that relationship, always be present in the moment, make the memories, and enjoy your time spent together.

Excessively high salaries have been questioned for decades, but never as much so as it has in the last decade.
Executive pay has consistently been a hot topic of debate, with many people questioning whether CEO salaries are in line with workers' wages. In recent years, the issue has become even more pressing, with the wealth gap between executives and workers continuing to widen.
And what about athletes? Athletes, particularly those in popular sports such as football, basketball, and soccer, are among the highest-paid professionals in the world. It's a common question whether it makes sense for some athletes to make the money they do, considering that they are playing a game rather than doing essential work like doctors, teachers, or first responders. Is the argument that professional sports generate billions of dollars in revenue each year and athletes play a vital role in driving this economic activity sufficient enough to equate their high salaries?
What do you think? Are salaries off-balance? How do we fix this and ensure people at all levels across all industries are getting paid fairly?

Do you own a house or do you rent your living space? There are pros and cons to both situations.
Renting has several benefits, as you don't have to worry about property taxes or HOA costs, and you will also likely have lower utility bills. You also maintain the flexibility and freedom to move when your lease ends. Additionally, you definitely don't have to stress when you have a plumbing issue or one of your major appliances is not working because in most cases, those costs are borne by the property owner. When renting, you can simply call maintenance or the landlord.
That's not to say owning your own place doesn't have its benefits as well. Owning your own place means having the pride of ownership and building equity in your home. There are also tax advantages when it comes to owning your own place.
But like everything in life, while there are pros, there are also cons. For example, a mortgage means you are paying someone interest for having borrowed the money, which adds to the cost of home ownership. And if you're renting, you're always subject to an increase in the rent payment when the lease is up for renewal.
Listen to this episode as Pankaj and Priya talking about their own living arrangements and what they think about renting versus owning.

Losing someone you know, care about, or love is never easy, and everyone deals with that loss differently. As humans, it's a natural part of life, and as individuals, we need to process this life event in our own way. For some, it may be through sadness, and for others, it may be through anger. For some people, it may trigger their depression, and for other people, they may have a harder time processing it. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. What's important though is that you do grieve. Grieving means you cared, and it allows you to process the loss.
Listen as Pankaj and Priya talk about how they, as individuals, grieve, how you can be there for someone who is grieving, and how you can honor the people you have lost.
For Pankaj, death is a very difficult issue, especially when it is someone who is extremely close to him. Listen as he opens up about losing his father-in-law and some very close friends.

Faith has become a term that has become almost synonymous with religion, but it does not only coincide with religion.
Merriam Webster Dictionary defines faith as "allegiance to duty or a person." We can have faith that we are connecting with people through this podcast. We can have faith that a fundraising event is going to be successful. We can have faith in the people around us, our family, and our community.
Merriam Webster Dictionary also defines as "belief and trust in and loyalty to God." This definition is rooted in religion. We all believe in something. For some people, it may be a singular God. For some, it may be many Gods and Goddesses. For other people, faith is not synonymous with religion, and that is okay too.
As we ponder on what faith is and what it means to us as individuals, it's important that we allow each other the room to live with faith in whatever it means to us individually.

In today's society, it has become increasingly important to be critical when evaluating news sources due to the prevalence of false and misleading information.
Just as importantly, we need to find news sources that report the news instead of sensationalizing stories that are being presented in the interest of tv ratings, website traffic, etc.

What if you could spend a day doing whatever you wanted?
You can choose to do nothing, continue your same day-to-day routine, or take the time to do something that you have never or would never usually do.
When we get so consumed with everyday life and daily routines, we don't allow ourselves to do simple things like going for a hike, spending time with friends and family, reading a book, or even spending time just by ourselves. We don't allow ourselves to destress and relax from the pressures of our personal and professional lives. Doing so can provide additional energy and clarity of thought for future work endeavors.
A day without limits can also mean allowing ourselves do things without fears or concerns. It can be a day where we allow ourself to shine because we are not afraid to be who we are.
So, if you had a day without limits, what would you do? Where would you go? Who would you be with?

The topic of money can be a contentious one. Money is a necessity in order for us to live, and thus, it impacts everyone, no matter who you are. The problem is that it has the ability to help some while hurting others.
Some of us are working and making a minimum wage that is far too small to be able to live on. We are fighting for a living wage that aligns with the cost of living in the state we live in. Many of us are fighting for pay equality and to eliminate the pay gap across gender, sex, race, and ethnicity.
These are just a few of the many problems that are in need of fixing when it comes to the conversation of money. Daily life, retirement, healthcare, etc. Money touches and impacts every aspect of our lives. Unfortunately, the problems we have with money in society today won't be resolved over night. Fortunately, there is slow progress being made.
With the acknowledgement that not everyone may be able to, there ARE some things we can do as individuals in order to save money and create personal wealth, for those that have the privilege to do so. Here are just a few:
And while money is not a fun or easy topic, we need to keep talking about it and continue educating ourselves.

Pankaj grew up during a time when technology was less widespread and exploring and playing outdoors was a daily activity. Now, people spend more time inside on their computers, playing video games, watching tv, etc.
The development of technology has enabled incredible advancements in areas such as communications, education, healthcare, and transportation. The adoption of new technologies has allowed for enhanced global connectivity, improved access to knowledge, and reduced labor costs.
But it also comes with a price. Data breaches from targeted hacking and privacy concerns only just barely scratch the surface of the cost that comes with the rapid pace of technological advancements. If we're not careful, technology has the ability to outpace us.
As technology continues to advance, we must stay vigilant and take action against the harm that technology has the potential to cause.

We tend to band-aid things with quick solutions rather than finding the root problem and fixing that (or at least start to fix it at the root).
As a country/world/humans, we continue to fail to look at the root cause of why things happen. Job, health issues, financial problems, business failures, within ourselves, etc.

Aimee joined in when she was born and the family has not looked back when it comes to supporting the fight to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
After losing a dear friend to leukemia in 2013, Pankaj introduced the family to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Then, with Bhavna's cancer diagnosis in 2019, the family has gotten further involved in supporting more organizations and events that benefit cancer patients and research.

Despite the technological advancements and streamlined ways of doing things, the process of applying for and finding a job has not changed in at least 30 years.
Job seekers are still having to create individual logins to company portals for that one-time job application and enter information that is already available on the resume. Add to that the ongoing debate of whether you should submit a cover letter. Does anyone even read the cover letter or is it just used to judge if a candidate is taking the time to submit one?
Are you tired of all the resume and job application advice you get? Do you feel like you are getting screened out unfairly? Are you frustrated by the fact that the loop rarely gets closed and you are left wondering what happened to your job application?

Let's talk about therapy.
Therapy is healthy if that's something you need, and there are different kinds of therapy depending on what you need it for.
On this episode, Pankaj and Priya talk about about therapy for mental health. Priya dives into her history with it, sharing insight and importance of finding the right therapist for you as an individual.
Pankaj talks about his difference in opinion of therapy from his past to today and where it stems from, sharing something that is common in the world still today.
If there is one thing they want you to remember as you listen is that you're not alone.
And going to therapy and taking care of yourself - there is NOTHING wrong with that.

Trigger Warning: This episode contains a short clip discussing the line between school shootings and mental health.
When we talk about mental health, it's important to remember that not everyone's health is the same. You might be sitting next to someone who appears happy but is struggling with bipolar disorder, while their friend is battling depression on the other side of the room. You also don't know if that person next to you is silently suffering (a trauma, relationship issues, etc.).
No two diagnoses are the same. No two traumas are the same. And how everyone deals with what they are going through is not the same. As a result, how issues impact mental health will vary from individual to individual. But there is a common thread - we all have events that impact us - good and bad. How we deal with and manage those events will shape our mental health.
As we continue to share our stories and be there for one another, we learn and grow. This helps change behaviors and attitudes, allowing indviduals to feel more comfortable talking about it.
If you're experiencing a mental health condition, don't hesitate to reach out for help. There are plenty of resources available to help you.
If you need immediate assistance, please call 988 (National Suicide Prevention Lifeline).

Life is made up of both positive and negative things, from personal life situations to society at large.
Lately, we have been surrounded what seems to be more negative news than ever before. How do we stay aware and educated without becoming desensitized to it? How do we keep it from consuming us so much so that we stop seeing the good in the world and the positive things in our lives?
If we can't eliminate negativity, we can at least work to mitigate or minimize how much it impacts us daily. We can find the positives more often and see the good.

This conversation does NOT delve into political views.
Politics is not a game. In the US, we have gotten further and further away from what the original definition of politics is and what it is ultimately for: the people.
It has become a battle of one side versus another.
Listen in as Pankaj and Priya discuss politics at a higher level - what politics looks like today and what is possible for the future.

We all walk around with baggage, often hidden and unseen. We tend to not share our pain or struggles, because sometimes, we fear people might not understand or that they might make judgements. There is also a fear that people can’t relate or that you’re the only one carrying the baggage you carry.
However, if we allow ourselves to open and unpack that baggage, we can learn, grow, and become stronger.
