Hi! You may have noticed that I’ve recently been broadcasting a daily show on YouTube, covering the latest news in UK-listed shares. I’m going live every weekday at 11.30am.
While YouTube offers live interaction between myself and viewers, which I greatly value, I appreciate that the format is not for everyone - some people would prefer to have the show in audio-only format.
So here we go - the 6th November episode is now in podcast form. I’m not sure if it’s possible for me to download these audios on the same day, so for now they will be on a one-day lag. Enjoy!
This is a public episode. If you would like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit theinvestorinstitute.substack.com
This podcast was sparked by a Twitter poll I posted regarding the “FIRE” lifestyle (“Financial Independence, Retire Early”). I explain what I think FIRE gets right, but also why I’m not willing to follow it completely.
Do you agree or disagree? Please let me know what you think of the FIRE movement, by leaving a comment.
And if you enjoy the podcast, I’d really appreciate if you could hit the “heart” button. Thank you!
Best regards
Graham

Following on from my recent article, I wanted to elaborate on this topic and put it in video/audio format for you.
This podcast includes all of the audio from the presentation, but if you want to see the charts discussed, then head on over to the Youtube channel:
The presentation includes some amazing facts that people may be unaware of, for example:
most companies underperform the risk-free rate over the long run.
a total or near-total loss for equity investors is the most common outcome for individual stocks.
Who would have guessed the stock market was so dangerous!
The academic paper I’m discussing can be found at this link. I’d be eager to hear your thoughts on the topic.
Best regards,
Graham

In this podcast, I provide some thoughts on the UK small-cap Best of the Best (#BOTB), which published a terrible trading update last week. I contrast it with companies which do have pricing power and monopolistic characteristics.
We explore super high-quality companies in our written research notes:
Last Wednesday, Roland Head examined a UK company with an amazing moat and unbeatable market share.
Earlier this month, I wrote in detail about a US social media giant whose power over its customers is enormous.
Next Wednesday, at 11am (UK) / 6 am (New York), I will publish detailed analysis of my current favourite stock.
Don’t miss out!
These podcasts are available on our YouTube channel, and on Spotify, iTunes and elsewhere. Stay tuned for the next one!
I hope the markets are treating you well.
Best wishes
Graham

Hi everyone!
This week, I’m posting a podcast on Robinhood ($HOOD) instead of producing a written newsletter for you. I think that Robinhood shares are exceedingly risky, and explain why in this 28-minute recording.
For premium members, I published a detailed article on Wednesday on the subject of Twitter ($TWTR), which I’m considering buying shares in. I really enjoyed writing this article, which I think provides a unique take on the company!
Next Wednesday, also for premium members, Roland Head will publish an article on a Buy idea of his choice. I’m fascinated to discover which stock he has chosen!
This will be published at 11am UK time / 6am New York time. So make sure you’re subscribed by then, if you want to get Roland’s Buy idea first!
I hope you enjoy this podcast. Thanks for listening and have a great weekend.
Best regards
Graham
