YOLOTALKS is a humble project between Pedro Parada, a Spanish boy with a suitcase full of dreams, and Marta Adamska, a Polish girl with a restless mind and an out of the box sense of humour. A perfect cocktail for a podcast in which they will tackle any subject, from mundane to deep philosophical questions. We will also host interviews with regular people that has something interesting to say.
Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophy has been blamed for the rise of Nazism. In this video, we explore how his ideas may have contributed to the rise of the Nazi party in a fascinating interview with professor of philosophy Stephen Hicks.Stephen R. C. Hicks is Professor of Philosophy at Rockford University, Illinois, USA, Executive Director of the Center for Ethics and Entrepreneurship, and Senior Scholar at The Atlas Society. In 2010, he won his university’s Excellence in Teaching Award. He has been Visiting Professor of Business Ethics at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., Visiting Professor at Jagiellonian University, Poland, Visiting Fellow at the Social Philosophy & Policy Center in Bowling Green, Ohio, Visiting Fellow at Harris Manchester College at Oxford University in England, Senior Fellow at The Objectivist Center in New York, and Visiting Professor at the University of Kasimir the Great, Poland. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Guelph, Canada, and his Ph.D. in philosophy from Indiana University, Bloomington, USA.

Whilst an employee at the British Government's Ministry of Defence (MoD), Pope was responsible, among other duties, for investigating UFO phenomena to determine if they had any defence significance..
From 1991 to 1994 he researched and investigated UFOs, alien abductions, crop circles and other strange phenomena, leading the media to call him the real Fox Mulder. His government background and his level-headed views have made him the media, film and TV industry's go-to guy when it comes to UFOs, the unexplained and conspiracy theories.

Jennifer D. Sciubba is an internationally recognized expert in the field of demographic security. In addition to numerous academic articles, she is the author of 8 Billion and Counting: How Sex, Death, and Migration Shape Our World (2022) and The Future Faces of War: Population and National Security (2011), and the editor of A Research Agenda for Political Demography (2021). Dr. Sciubba is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and is Vice Chair of the Population Reference Bureau’s Board of Trustees. She is currently a 2022-2023 Wilson Center Fellow, formerly a tenured professor in the Department of International Studies at Rhodes College, one of the country's leading liberal arts colleges. Dr. Sciubba is also affiliated with the Center for Strategic and International Studies. She has trained at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research and worked for the US Department of Defense (Policy) on demographic and environmental issues. She received her Ph.D. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland and her B.A. from Agnes Scott College (Phi Beta Kappa).

Lee McIntyre is a Research Fellow at the Center for Philosophy and History of Science at Boston University and a recent Lecturer in Ethics at Harvard Extension School. He holds a B.A. from Wesleyan University and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). He has taught philosophy at Colgate University (where he won the Fraternity and Sorority Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching Philosophy), Boston University, Tufts Experimental College, Simmons College, and Harvard Extension School (where he received the Dean’s Letter of Commendation for Distinguished Teaching). Formerly Executive Director of the Institute for Quantitative Social Science at Harvard University, he has also served as a policy advisor to the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard and as Associate Editor in the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

Kate is a biochemist building synthetic cells. Her research aims at understanding the chemical principles of biology, and use artificial cells to create new tools for bioengineering, drug development, and basic research. The interests of the lab span questions from the origin and earliest evolution of life, using synthetic biology to colonize space, to the future of biotechnology and medicine.
She received an MSc in chemistry from the University of Warsaw, Poland, studying synthetic organic chemistry. In grad school, she worked with professor Pier Luigi Luisi from University Roma Tre and Jack Szostak from Harvard University. She studied RNA biophysics, small peptide catalysis, and liposome dynamics, in an effort to build a chemical system capable of Darwinian evolution. Kate's postdoctoral work in Ed Boyden's Synthetic Neurobiology group at MIT focused on developing novel methods for multiplex control and readout of mammalian cells.
Her full first name spells Katarzyna; she goes by Kate for the benefit of friends speaking less consonant-enriched languages.

In this episode of YOLOTalks, Pedro and Marta meet Steven Benedict, a professional track and field athlete, who has run in some of the world's most prestigious events - including the Olympics.
In addition to the Adidas Classic Diamond League and US Nationals, he ran for Nike for 2 years and was a Penn Relays Champion. Featured in 50 national and international magazines such as Train, ESPN Magazine, Mens Fitness, Mens Health and Fitness RX, Steven has expertise and contributions that extend. far beyond the track.
These accomplishments were not what was expected based on his early years. Steven’s childhood began in an abusive home which resulted in he and his brothers placement in foster care. Over the course of his first 8 years, he was moved between homes and motels with little certainty of what the next day would bring. At age 8, he and his brother were adopted by an incredible couple which possessed traits of joy, humility, sacrifice and unconditional love. The time with these parents would be short lived, however as both his mom and dad suffered untimely deaths within a few years of each other. The pain of these losses nearly ended Steven’s professional career but as history would repeat itself, once again, Steven defied the odds and is back stronger than ever to be proof that experiences in life are nothing more than another day of training in becoming a champion for others. He is passionate to set the pace for the coming generations as an example of what relentless strength and faith can accomplish.

Chris Ferrie, is an associate professor at the University of Technology Sydney and Centre for Quantum Software and Information. His research interests include quantum estimation and control. Elizabeth is a professor of anthropology at San Jose State University in California. Her research expertise is in skeletal analyses of osteoarthritis, muscle markers, and bone cross-sections to reconstruct lifestyles and better understand bone biology. She has published several books such as her most recent one Repatrion and Erasing the past She has been vocal in her opposition to repatriation laws for ancient Native American remains to the point that she filed a lawsuit against San Jose State University.
