After struggling to work a 9-5 job for a variety of reasons (full explanation in Episode #1, see ya there?), I started looking into ways to make money on my terms. I knew that there had to be a better way to make a living, which resulted in me spending 4 years and over $15k trying every make money online opportunity I could find. Because of this, I now know what works, what doesn’t, what to look out for and more. This is also why I decided to start the Escape the 9-5 podcast. I want to share my experiences, tips and tricks which you so that you can live a life where you get to spend your time your way. Your niche is the backbone of your business.

3. Open an Online Store
Have you ever thought about selling products online? Well, you have 2 options. The first option is to create and sell your own products and the second option is to dropship products.
4. Trade Stocks
I used to think trading was extremely risky and it can be, but I found an amazing online course called Trade and Travel by Teri Ijeoma that showed me how to trade and how to minimize risk. I now feel comfortable trading stocks and know how to set certain thresholds that prevent me from losing large amounts of money.

5. Become an Affiliate Marketer
Companies big and small offer affiliate marketing programs as a way to make more sales. Basically, you sign up/apply for the program, share your link and earn commissions.

Last, but definitely not least, if you’re looking for time and financial freedom, digital products might be the answer!
A digital product is an intangible product like a download that’s purchased online. This could be an online course, a meal planning guide, a wedding planning checklist and so on. The possibilities are endless.
The best thing about digital products is that once you create your product, you can set up an automated system that will sell this product on autopilot for years. You can get sales while taking a nap, sitting on the beach, petting your cats and so on.

Have you ever thought about starting your own business as a way to make money on our terms or ditch your 9-5?
In this episode we talk about how to know if starting a business is right for you and then in the next episode I'll show you how to uncover your million dollar business idea.
Do you hate your job? Are you struggling to find the right career path? If so, it's time to sit down and do some analysis (because yes, you deserve to have an amazing and fulfilling career).
Before you can find your dream career, you need to drill down exactly what you like and don't like. You can start by asking yourself these 5 questions.
- What don't you like about your current job? The more specific the better.
- Why did you pursue this area or career in the first place? What do you like about it?
- What are some things that you liked or disliked about previous jobs?
- If you didn't have to go to work but you still had to occupy a large portion of your time, what would you do? How would you spend your days?
- What would prevent you from making a change? What are some obstacles you may encounter?
Then, once you get a good grasp on what you do and don't like, it's a matter of applying that information by asking yourself the following:
- If there are some aspects about your job that you don't like (not enough time off), could you ask for what you want and potentially make your current job work for you?
- If the company is the problem, would a similar job at a different company be a better fit? Maybe a more flexible role or working for a company that has more perks?
- If you no longer think the type of job you have is a good fit for you, what are some things that you've liked in the past? Is there an area that you're really interested in?
- Lastly, if you're struggling with both your job structure and your type of job, would working for yourself be a viable option? Could you work as a freelancer or would you be interested in starting your own business?
If you're looking for some more flexible work options I recommend checking out some of the following:
- Flexjobs: This is one of the best websites for finding remote jobs. You do need to pay a monthly fee to access Flexjobs but in my mind it's worth it. With other websites in can be hard to find fully remote jobs and there are also a lot of fake postings out there. Use code SAVE30 to get 30% off your first month.
- Remote.io: This is a free website with a variety of remote jobs.
- Indeed: Indeed is pretty much the holy grail for job searching. To find remote jobs you can type "work from home" into the location field or you can start doing job searches and then filter to "remote."
- Upwork: Upwork is a great place to find freelance work. You could offer ongoing freelance services or you can help people with one-time projects.
