PTSD, Jesus and Me There is much stigma to mental health issues in America and in the world. It is, perhaps, the most overlooked healthcare issue in society today. However, when we choose to address it and surround ourselves with people who refuse to let us ignore it, there IS healing and there IS Hope. This is a podcast hosted by a trauma survivor, a CPTSD patient, and a thriver. This raw and real podcast seeks to educate through story, science, and a faith that heals because of a God who understands our sufferings.#PTSD #Anxiety #Depression #MentalHealthMatters #EMDR #RRT #LFS #Survivor #Jesus
The inaugural season finale of Wednesdays With Watson, features two special guests. Cheryl Rice and Christy Waulk join us to conclude the season and help highlight the message of the entire season. We know that there is Hope, and want to tell you about it. Cheryl Rice brings 37 years of ministerial experience as she has served alongside her husband Dr. William Rice, senior pastor, Calvary Church, Clearwater, Florida. She holds her BA in History and English from Samford University.Christy Waulk is the Co-Founder of Baylight Counseling, also in Clearwater, Florida. Christy holds multiple degrees in the area of Biblical counseling as well as trauma training. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.Healing happens when we understand the importance of community, the importance of church, and the importance of counseling. More important than those things, we understand the Star of all of our stories, IS our ultimate Hope. This episode is meant to start conversations among laypeople in churches as well as leadership. When laypeople serve hurting people in their congregation, they are ministering to approximately 25% of their congregation at any given time. Some of this work happens outside the church, in fact a good bit of it does. "Community is vital to healing" Christy shares. So, even though this episode is focused on the church, mental health should first be addressed in the trenches where people are hurting first and most.Leadership must also understand the importance of providing resources for helpers and support creative and innovative ways to minister to those hurting in their sphere of influence. This episode creates a call to action. Oftentimes, there are financial barriers to counseling. Christy and Josh Waulk have created a non profit organization for the hurting and never turn away a counseling client because of their inability to pay. To accomplish this, Baylight Counseling has a way for you to help. Consider a donation to this foundation so they can continue to provide these services, especially in a difficult year like 2020.
