Eschatology with Scott Richey

Christians believe that Jesus Christ will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end, we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen..

But there is disagreement over the nature and timing of Christ’s return. One word dominates the discussion: "millennium." Only one chapter of the Bible—the very last—discusses the millennium. The Bible says the devil is bound for a millennium in Revelation 20. A time of unprecedented peace, during which Christians rule alongside Jesus, starts when Satan’s influence over the world is removed. But, the specifics of the millennium, including its length, are hotly debated.

The term "eschatology," which means "the study of last things" or "the study of the end times," is derived from various Greek words. Eschatology refers to the time of Jesus' second coming, as well as death, the afterlife, judgment, the millennium, heaven, and hell.

Why should we study eschatology? Even though opinions on the end days are divided, we should still study them. It plays a significant role in the Bible, and the Bible exhorts us to heed the whole counsel of God, not just the parts that are simple to read and understand. This includes last time themes and events, such as the impending judgment on unbelievers and the creation of a new heaven and new earth (1 Peter 3:13).

I want to encourage people to seriously study the text of the Bible, and then to have the courage to be willing to test the so-called experts.

Eschatology in the Old Testament. Most could argue that the garden of Eden, where God is fully present with Adam and Eve, marks the beginning of eschatology in the Old Testament. Humanity lost its relationship with God after the fall. The rest of the Bible details God's plan for returning us to holiness. He tells the Israelites, for instance, to construct a sanctuary in Exodus 25:8 so that His presence will follow them wherever they go. Christians will experience God once more with His people in holiness at the end of the age.

Eschatology in the New Testament. In the New Testament, we see both individual and corporate eschatology that is focused on God's people being reconciled into God's presence in the New Jerusalem. A returning of God’s people to the garden of Eden. The gospels' eschatology is centered on the establishment of God's kingdom. Opposition to God's kingdom grows and Jesus predicts the "end of the age" and the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem in 70AD. The Epistles expand on both individual and corporate eschatology. They refer to believers who have passed away but are still looking forward to Christ's return by using phrases like "fallen asleep" (1 Cor 15:18). Of course, they also discuss the approaching second coming of Christ. In 1 Corinthians 15:24, Paul expands on the idea that although the kingdom of God is already present, Christ has not yet arrived. Christians endure tension and eagerly await Christ's second coming. Although Christians do not know the exact day or hour of Christ's return, Paul exhorts them to be prepared (1 Thess 4:13–18). The temple is no longer in Jerusalem, but rather in the believer's heart until the time of Christ's second coming (Eph 2:22). In Revelation Chapters 21 and 22, John describes his vision of the new Jerusalem. God's presence among people (Rev. 21:3) and including the tree of life (Rev. 22:2; see Gen. 2:9), the new Jerusalem's description sounds like the garden of Eden.

I’m going to talk about four major viewpoints; preterism, amillennialism, premillennialism, & postmillennialism. As we look at these different views let’s remember that the Jews in the OT thought they understood how the Messiah would arrive. They were looking for a strong political leader. Despite the many clearly stated prophecies, when He arrived, few people recognized Him and many are still looking for His arrival. Do not presume that we have the ability to perfectl

Conflict with the world.

Paul greeted Christians in the NT as “those who are in: Ephesus; Corinth; Philippi". We know that all of those Christians had conflicts, just as we do now. Christians are in Christ, but we are also in the world.

Who is Jesus Christ? The Deity of Christ in the Gospel of Mark

  1. The most important question that anyone could possibly ask.

  2. His bold claims demand a decision and exclude the possibility for neutrality.

  3. The C. S. Lewis trilemma. It is sometimes described as the “Lunatic, Liar, or Lord”, or “Mad, Bad, or God” argument.

  4. Who the church has traditionally said Jesus is.

The Nicene Creed & the Chalcedonian Definition of Christ speak about his divinity.

No one is neutral. Freewill or Chosen?

Luke 23:39-43 - One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

1.Ephesians 1:4-14

Ephesians 1:4-5 - even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us for adoption to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will,

Ephesians 1:9 - making known to us the mystery of His will, according to His purpose, which He set forth in Christ

Ephesians 1:11 - In Him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,

“It is though Paul is unpacking for us the bundle of blessings which God has given us in His Son:

Forgiveness, Redemption, Acceptance. As he unpacks he makes it clear that he is speaking of a plan God has had before we were born.”

Pastor is God just haphazardly working our salvation out?

(Can you believe in the sovereignty of God and logically believe that we choose salvation on our own?)

“Dr Ferguson talks about the Greek word used for ‘to foreknow’”. (with things, to have information beforehand) (with people, an intimate knowledge and communion).

In light of that, what does Jesus mean when He says in Matthew 7:22-24 - On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’?

Election seems to bother some people.

Matthew 22:14 - For many are called, but few are chosen.”

“based upon this principle:”

Matthew 11:25-28 - At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; 26 yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. 27 All things have been handed over to Me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him. 28 Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

“These words are unfathomable. They take us into the deep things of God, speaking as they do of the inter-personal relationships of the Father and the Son. They point to mysteries beyond our understanding. But they also speak plainly about how men come to know God in Christ. It is by the choice of the Father and the Son.”

Responsibility - “Lay aside all our anxieties.”

The recognition of the pardon of God.

Psalm 130 Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord!

2     O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy!

3 If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,O Lord, who could stand?

4 But with You there is forgiveness, that You may be feared.

5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;

6 my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning,

more than watchmen for the morning.

7 O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption.

8 And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

What is involved in repentance?  (will differ from person to person).

1. Sense of Shame.

True Repentance - Chapter 8 - The Christian Life by Sinclair Ferguson with Pastor William Shifflett. Visit Pastor Shifflett's Blog: Williams-Good-Word.org

Dr. Ferguson reminds us; “We have already noted that faith and repentance are twin doctrines and cannot be separated. All true evangelical experience necessarily involves.” and “these twin responses to the grace of God are not only joined together at their birth, they remain inseparable throughout the whole of life.

The chapter title is “True Repentance”, so there must also be false repentance, how prevalent do you think this is in Christianity today?  How important is it for local churches to recognize? What steps should be taken?

Born Again - Chapter 6 - The Christian Life

So far we have discussed our need of God’s saving grace, God’s call to grace, & Conviction of sin. Today we are going to talk about the phrase, “born again” and the doctrine of Regeneration.

Dr Ferguson says, “it is perhaps the most crucial doctrine of all” and “to mistake the way here will mean that the whole focus of our understanding is seriously at fault”.

Why do you think he says that Regeneration is perhaps the most crucial doctrine for understanding the Christian Life?

When we look at the way the Apostles and the early church evangelized, how does it compare with modern church evangelism?

“Regeneration is only mentioned 2 times in Scripture” : Matthew 19:28 - And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

And Titus 3:5 - not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Regeneration is not the Gospel, regeneration is a result or product of receiving the Gospel.

Abortion, recorded April, 5, 2022

We discuss how the news media covers Ukraine civilian deaths versus abortion deaths.

Abortion is sin, repent and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed. - 1 Corinthians 15:1-11

Pause, Consider Giving God Thanks*

Psalm 100

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!

2 Serve the Lord with gladness!

Come into His presence with singing!

3 Know that the Lord, He is God!

It is He who made us, and we are His;[a]

we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.

4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving,

and His courts with praise!

Give thanks to Him; bless His name!

5 For the Lord is good;

His steadfast love endures forever,

and His faithfulness to all generations.

Let’s look at 2 Timothy 12-17. I am reading from the ESV. Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. The apostle Paul is nearing the end of his life and the end of his ministry; but Timothy is a young pastor, who still has many years of ministry still before him. So, Paul is writing him and encouraging him to press on, to stay faithful, to take courage, to live righteously, and to preach the Word, in season and out of season. Paul tells Timothy, in verse 12. “all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted”. So, he needs to realize that and commit himself to be faithful to God’s Word and with God’s Word in whatever comes his way; because it is God’s Word that makes God’s people wise unto salvation. Timothy was raised in the nurture and admonition of the Lord learning the sacred writings, the Old Testament. And through the Old Testament Timothy came to know Christ. So, as Paul says in 1 Timothy 4:16, “Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.” A Pastor and teacher needs to keep a close watch on himself, his preaching, and his teaching. He needs to stay faithful and steadfast, because that’s the way God will use to save those who hear him preach. Breathed out by God In the first part of verse 16 Paul says that, “All Scripture is breathed out by God.” So, not just the Old Testament, but even the words of the New Testament are sacred Scripture that have been breathed by God. But, what does it mean that Scripture is God breathed? The Word of God tells us. In Psalm 33:6 it says, “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of His mouth all their host.” Genesis 1:1 tells us, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” God spoke the heavens and the earth into existence. The breath of God is directly tied to the words of His mouth. Just as we breath out as we talk; God breathed forth His Word in creation, and also breathes through His Word. The writers of scripture were used by God to give us His inerrant Holy Word. 2 Peter 1:21 tells us, “men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit”. When He says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God,” God is telling us that all of Scripture is truly His Word. It is God speaking and we should receive it with reverence, confidence, and joy. Through God’s Holy Word, He makes us wise unto salvation. We also see in the first part of verse 16, that God breathed means God spoke; God spoke forth His Word. And because God is God; His Word is powerful, sufficient, and life giving. By His Word He created the heavens and the earth; and He breathed it all out of nothing. God’s Word is powerful and sufficient; nothing needs to be added to it or taken away from it. God’s Word creates and it recreates. Martin Luther the great reformer said, “God created the world out of nothing, and so long as we are nothing, He can make something out of us.” God’s Word can make His people wise unto salvation, because in it the gospel is revealed and the gospel is the power of God unto salvation. Scripture is the holy, powerful, inerrant, all-sufficient, saving, life giving Word of God. And since it it’s spoken forth by the holy, perfect, good, and infinitely glorious God of the universe, it too is complete and good. God’s Word is inerrant and infallible just like the God who b

PAUSE & Consider The Cross of CHRIST.

1 Corinthians 1:18-31

Christ the Wisdom and Power of God.

18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written,

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,

and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.”

20 Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. 22 For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26 For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; 28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, 29 so that no human being[c] might boast in the presence of God. 30 And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 31 so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

Matthew 28:19-20 - Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

BIBLE Pause with Pastor William Shifflett

What do most people mean by fellowship? Christian fellowship is not in koolaid & cookies. Our fellowship is not just in picnics or pot-luck dinners. Some say fellowship is meeting around the table and talking to each other about everything under the sun, except the one thing that would give them true fellowship, the person of Jesus Christ.

Fellowship in the Gospel

Philippians 1:3-6 - I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; Christian fellowship means sharing the same vision of getting the gospel to the world, and then investing personally and trusting the Holy Spirit's working to draw people unto the Father. The apostle Paul loved to spread the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, and so should we. There is nothing that compares to seeing someone come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Fellowship of the Spirit

Philippians 2:1-2 - Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. The fellowship of the Spirit. Do you have somebody that you can meet with, pray with, and study the Word of God with? The Spirit of God will meld you together. Many churches have those that “trusted, but then rusted”, or the “frozen chosen”. Don’t be rusted or frozen together, pray and study with other Christians and let the Holy Spirit meld you together.

Fellowship of Christ’s Sufferings

Philippians 3:10-11- that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Friend, do you know Him? Do you really know Him? Do you know the fellowship of His sufferings? When we follow in the footsteps of Jesus, preach the Gospel, and walk in the Light we will see the same hostility from the world that Jesus endured. The book of Philippians is about joy. Christians can find joy in our suffering, in any circumstance we find ourselves in. Fellowship in suffering - Find someone that is hurting and hurt with them. Find someone with a burden and help them bear it.There is a sweet fellowship that exists between Christians who suffer together for the cause of Christ.

Fellowship of the Father

1 John 1:3 - that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

Our need for Fellowship with HIM

1 John 1:6-7 - If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

We fall into two classes, those who are in fellowship with God, and therefore walk in light and love and those who are not in fellowship with God and therefore walk in darkness and hatred.

We become like what we surround ourselves with. Walk in the darkness of the world and you become darker. Walk in the light of God’s Word and you become more like Jesus.

Being a Lone Ranger Christian doesn’t work. Believers are joined together into one body in Christ Jesus, and it is the function of one part of the body to minister to another member of the body. If one member of the body does not minister to another member, they both suffer.

The only place you can have real Christian fellowship is around God’s Holy Word.

It’s the Word of God that points us to the person of Jesus Christ and enables us to see Him in all His glory. It’s with your Bible open that you can have fellowship and a good time with other believers.

Our Lord is wonderful

Let’s Pause and see who Jesus says that He is.

John 3:1-2 - Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.”

For many people it is easy to recognize that Jesus was a good teacher or a good prophet, like Nicodemus did. But, Jesus is not just a good man, Jesus is The GOD Man. The gospel of John shows us the deity of Jesus - that Jesus is equal with God.

In the gospel of John we have the seven “I AM” statements in which Jesus uses to speak of His deity.

We see that God calls Himself “I AM” in the Bible.

Exodus 3:14 – “God said to Moses, I AM who I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites, I AM has sent me to you.

Jesus uses the “I AM” title for himself at least eight times in the gospel of John alone.

The bread of life

John 6:35 - Then Jesus declared, I AM the bread of life. He who comes to Me will never go hungry.

John 6:51 I AM the living bread that came down from heaven. If any one eats of this bread, he will live forever.

The light of the world

John 8:12 - When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, I AM the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

John 9:5 - While I AM in the world, I AM the light of the world.

The great I am

John 8:58 - Jesus said onto them, verily, verily, I say unto you, before a Abraham was, I AM.

The door

John 10:7 - Therefore Jesus said again, I tell you the truth, I AM the door for the sheep.

John 10:9 - I AM the door; whoever enters through Me will be saved.

The good shepherd

John 10:11 – I AM the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

John 10:14 – I AM the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.

The resurrection and the life

John 11:25 - Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies.

The way, the truth, and the life

John 14:6 - Jesus answered, I AM the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

The true Vine

John 1:51- I AM the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.

John 1:55 – I AM the vine, you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and in him, he will bear much fruit, apart from Me you can do nothing.

Jesus took upon himself the title of deity from the Old Testament, revealing that He was God in the flesh.

Remember He is:

The bread of life.

The light of the world.

The door.

The good shepherd.

The resurrection and the life.

The true vine.

The way, the truth, and the life.

Jesus Christ is not a way to God the Father. Jesus Christ is the only way to God the Father.

  1. A WORLD OF DEFIANCE. Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his Anointed, saying, 3 “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.”

They oppose God’s authority; they reject God’s law; and they challenge God’s right to rule over them. Attempting to assert their own self-will, they embrace vain irrational philosophies, adopt wicked, twisted moral standards, attack the foundations of a Godly society. They do this for one main reason: this is an emphatic rejection & refusal to believe in God and live in accord with His law. BURST THE – God’s bonds are bonds of love, bonds of grace, bonds of mercy. Spoils their happiness, infringes on their freedom. God spoils everything. And so, they live in Fear, hostility, futility, & hopelessness. Christians were once the same way, – Colossians 1:21-22 - And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, 22 He has now reconciled in His body of flesh by His death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before Him, 1. THE FATHER in DERISION. 4 He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. 5 Then He will speak to them in His wrath, and terrify them in His fury, saying, 6 “As for Me, I have set My King on Zion, My holy hill.” God shows His contempt for their rejection of Him by sitting and laughing at them! Their rebellions are so irrational, absurd, & so hopeless, that their efforts muster only His holy scorn.

(v,4)"The Lord holds them in derision." His only response to them is a deliberate show of utter contempt. God makes fun of them. He has no concern whatsoever for their pathetic efforts to overthrow Him.

The reign of Christ was established in eternity past by divine decree. It is part of the Son's birthright, growing out of the eternal counsel of the Godhead, and it cannot be changed or overthrown. This is the work the Father Has given the Son to do, and the Son is devoted to it.

And those whom He redeems, the ones who overcome, will share the very throne they were against.

Where do you place your trust? - in the stupidity of man or the Sovereignty of God.

May we live in a way that reflects God’s righteousness and His grace.

And may we honor our LORD Jesus Christ and lift up His holy name in all that we do.

Psalm 1 – The Walk of the Righteous and the Wicked – Consider Your Walk

Pause and Know

Pause and consider the walk of the righteous.

Psalm 1:1 – Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,

nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

Who should we listen to? The world is full of people giving advice.

The lifestyles of the ungodly are destroying our culture and influencing our families.

A scoffer mocks faith and laughs at Christians.

2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night.

Our Counsel Should Come from God. Psalm 73:24 – You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory.

“he meditates day and night” – How often do you meditate on God’s Word?

Day and night? Daily? Weekly-just on Sundays? Monthly?

3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.

A tree is an image of stability and being able to withstand the storms of life.

It has a dependable source of nourishment – God’s Word.

It’s a picture of spiritual and mental stability in every situation.

It continues to grow in strength and its ability to bear fruit, It doesn’t wither with age.

Some Christians are like a stump, they don’t grow or mature. The Righteous grow in maturity.

You can be young only once, but you can be immature for a long time.

The Righteous have joyous stability and a life overflowing with the blessings of God. They prosper.

A life that prospers, a true life, is one that finds its delight in what God says.

It is a life that is directed, guided, and influenced by the Scriptures.

Success in the Christian life is measured by faith not finance.

A blessed man is rooted, fruitful, alive, and prosperous.

Pause and Know

Pause and consider the walk of the lost.

4 The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

The Bible tells us the wicked or lost “are not so“. This is a strong contrast to the walk of the righteous. Instead of being firmly planted, they are like “the chaff which the wind drives away“.

5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; 6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

It is through Jesus Christ and Him alone that one will find life and it is apart from Christ that one will perish.

Psalms 1 is an outline of humanity. There are only two kinds of people in this world. They are the Righteous and the lost. The Saints and the ain’ts. We are all either one of these. There is no in-between, no grey areas. They are walking in opposite directions. One walk leads to life, the other walk leads to destruction.

Which way are you walking?

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

Pause and recognize His presence.
