Sticking out from the crowd can be a scary thing, especially in middle and high school. So often, we tend to keep our heads down and do everything we can to not stick out. Because then, there's a tendency for people to pile on, and not in a good way. In the past, I used to get upset when people didn't listen to my podcast or purchase one of my books. It made me feel bad and rejected. When I principal would say No to my assembly program, I'd take it personally. Again, it made me feel bad, that maybe my program wasn't good enough. Over the years, having been told No a thousand times, I've adjusted my thinking. This episode is about NOT taking things personally.

I believe in challenging yourself and facing your fears. And I have learned that it's OK (and possible) to be afraid and still move forward. Fighting is one of the scariest things I've ever done, and I was always nervous and anxious right before a fight. Fear was present, but it didn't hold me back. I can't state enough how important it is in life to have a mission. Technically, a mission statement is "a formal summary of the aims and values of a company, organization, or individual." In regular terms, to me, that means finding something important to you and making it a part of your life. To make it even better, try to make that mission have a positive impact on other people. I read a quote in a book a few ago. It said, "Just keep going. Don't stop." The quote comes from Nike's founder Phil Knight and summarizes his best guidance in life. I have lived that motto my whole life and do my best to model it to you. Life does not always go our way, but our decision to keep going makes all the difference. Who wants to look weak or weird in middle and high school? Not many people. So when it comes to asking for help, we tend to NOT ask for it because we feel like it'll make us look weak or weird. But that's not reality. ASKING FOR HELP IS NOT WEAK OR WEIRD. It takes strength and courage. Accepting and admitting that you need help takes humility, and that's a good thing. There are people in your life who care, so please utilize them. Use this episode as a nudge toward asking for help.

I love the idea of loving what I do for a job. It is important to me to wake up everyday and enjoy myself while also working incredibly hard.
