We all have 24 hours in the day – no matter how hard we work, how early you wake up, how productive you may be, it will not change the hours that you have access to in the day. How are you spending that time? When you stand before the Lord one day, and he asks you where your disciples are, will your answer be “I was just too busy, I didn’t have time”? In part one of a three-part series, John breaks down what a disciple would really look like. It might not be what you think. What bearing does this have on you and me personally in how God wants us to operate in terms of allowing Him to flow through us to make a difference in the lives of other people?
Unfortunately, asking the question “What is a disciple?” to Christians today will probably end up with a conglomeration of a lot of different definitions. There is no consistency with what it means because there is no consistency with doing it. What a disciple is will determine what a disciple does.
We were born to reproduce. We were born again to reproduce. Disciple-making is reproducing, and, in this episode, John explains what that really means as seen in the Scriptures. Are you engaged in spiritual reproduction?
All throughout Scripture, there are examples of those who chose not to pass on the mantle of leadership, or to disciple the next generation, and the repercussions that followed because of it. It’s not just that we aren’t following the direct command from Jesus to make disciples. It’s also that it is hurting and costing us when we don’t obey.
The only way to change the country is to change people. Thankfully, we don’t have to exert any energy at figuring out how to do that; God has already given us a strategy. Through this look into Deuteronomy and Acts, John will walk you through four principles to disciple-making. Here’s a hint: it’s all about multiplication.
You’ve probably heard the phrase “No man is an island” before. This is especially true in the Christian faith. We need people around us! There are people, whether they knew it or not, who impacted and influenced your life and faith. Who are they? And whose life are you impacting?
In our culture, getting old means letting the young people take over. But this is not a theme consistent with the Scriptures! The old, whether in age or in maturity, are necessary for the health and growth of the young. No matter your age, there is a challenge for you to remain productive. Which are you?
Did you know that the word “Christian” is only used three times in the whole Bible? But there’s another word that is used 269 times throughout the Scriptures. And a word repeated that many times clearly holds importance and deserves attention. In this episode, John explains what it means for this word to define our lives.
It would be all too easy to live your whole life sitting and watching the action happen. But Jesus gave a command, a task, a job for us to do. There are people around us every day who need what you have. Are you going to do something about it?
The greatest threat to Christianity… is not what you think it is. It’s not materialism or atheism, but rather… it’s Christians who don’t do what Jesus commanded them to do. We have a job to do. Are you ready and willing to do it?
It’s easy, and far too common, to say we believe something and then not live it out. Do you believe enough to risk your life for it? Believing means giving your life over into the hands of the one in whom you say you believe. Believing is commitment! Are you committed?
