The gospel message is the most important message to ever have the privilege of preaching. The reality of the gospel is the most compelling truth there is to communicate. The good news is that God, because of His great love by which He loved us, even when we were dead in our sins, made us alive together with Christ. When we, by faith alone and because of the grace of God, place our belief and trust in Jesus as our Lord, we are brought back from the dead. This Gospel message needs to be clear every time the Word of God is preached so that it bears fruit in the lives of believers. Any authority that a preacher has should come from the authority of scripture. Any boldness that a preacher conveys should come from his undeniable belief in the Word of God. Any confidence a preacher conveys in the Word should be derived from a lived experience of transformation through the Scriptures. Preachers are to place their trust in the Holy Spirit. Of all the ways that God could have chosen to share His revelation of history with mankind, He chose words, and He chose to have those words written down so that all humanity in all times would be able to hear from God. In addition, He chose flawed humanity to not only document His infallible Word but to then preach it to the nations. Unfortunately, many preachers today seem to think that using the Bible for preaching is optional. The preaching is entertaining and personally focused, and people are more and more drawn to this type of preaching. This type of lifestyle preaching can make expositional preaching seem boring or irrelevant. Therefore, preachers who use an expository style seek to make not only contextual and historical clarity a main goal, but they also clearly show how the scriptures are relevant to the life of their congregation. Preaching God’s Word is a heavy calling, one that mere man seems unfit to tackle. Yet, God uses men to speak to His people and to share His revealed Word through preaching. Biblical preaching is declaring a message for God, and in the New Testament, “herald” is used to describe what those who preached were doing. They were used by God to herald the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Biblical preaching is the exposition of scripture, the explanation of divine revelation. Genesis gives us three primary purposes for God’s design for marriage. First, men and women mutually complete each other. God created a unique need in the heart of Adam, and Eve fills that need. She is his complement…his helper. Second, man and woman, as husband and wife, are to multiply and fill the earth, and in doing this, God’s glory is multiplied in the world. Third, marriage mirrors God’s relationship to us. We reflect God to the world in our marriages. Marriage is not just a cultural construct. Life continually points us to more. Materialism is a real threat. Contentment in the world’s economy is hard to acquire. The Word of God is calling us to just the opposite of what the world suggests. In Christ, we find true satisfaction, true contentment. We are designed by our Creator to find our ultimate satisfaction in Him alone. When God created human beings, He breathed into them the breath of life, and that means we are much more than material substance…we are spirit as well. Our spirits seek to worship because God created us to worship. Every person will worship, so will we use our spirit-filled bodies to worship God or will we give our worship over to worldly idols? The world offers us a myriad of options when it comes to our identity and purpose. As Christians we must deny what the world offers and ground ourselves in who we truly are…creatures made in the image of our God. We are created to reflect God in the world through attributes with which He has endowed us. When we deny the truth of our identity and look inwardly to determine who we are, we end up depressed, anxious, and deceived. The Bible gives us all that we need to understand Biblical womanhood. In this episode, we explore what the Bible says to women about who they are and about how important they are in God’s creation. We begin by grounding the discussion in a definition of Biblical womanhood: “A Biblical woman is one whose worldview is informed and influenced by the truth of God’s Word. Her existence and purpose are hidden in Christ; she lives her life unto the Lord, allowing His ways to become her ways; she’s led by God’s Word in all that she does.” Beyond the definition, we explore how women can practically live this out in our world, leaning into God when life brings challenges and struggles or successes and victories. In all women do, they are to work unto the Lord.
Culturally, we seem to be having difficulty defining what a woman is, even in very basic terms, and the world certainly doesn’t define women based on what God has to say about the subject. In this episode, we cover what the culture says it is to be a woman and what God says it is to be a woman. We explore the tension between these perspectives and how women can navigate those realities. We discuss the innate, God-given desires women have and the pressures they feel from the world, and we focus on what the Bible says we are and how God treasures our inner beauty as His daughters.
Arguments are natural for married couples, so knowing how to communicate well and resolve conflict is very important. In this episode, we cover two principles for authentic communication: listening to understand and expressing to be understood. These will help us to fight well in our marriages. God’s Word instructs us in James 1:19 to be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger. We should listen more than we speak; we should listen to understand, and true listening is hard work. Also, we should express ourselves to be understood. Ephesians 4:29 instructs us in how to do this. We are to use wholesome language and edifying speech. Our words should fit the need of the moment and give grace to those who hear them. Using these principles will help us resolve conflict as well. We must avoid the negative postures of winning at all costs or total withdrawal or yielding without engagement. As Christians, we know that we are in the last days, and that truth should impact how we walk out our faith in Jesus Christ. The Bible is to be our guide in how we walk out lives of personal holiness and launches us out into the world around us with the Gospel. We must not run and hide! Walk faithfully beloved and to God be the Glory!
Let us take heed to the Apostle Peter’s teaching in this area:
2 Peter 3:11-15 - Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! 13But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.14Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. 15And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him,
