How can we not expect others to only look at us as old if that’s how we see ourselves as we age? In this refreshingly honest Podcast you will feel like you are having a conversation with your friends about everything related to aging: life, love, career, health, wellness and much more.
Always remember, Old is not a fact. It’s a state of mind and a true Old Cow doesn’t live there.

Thoughts on the New York Post headline saying, "The Golden Bachelor' divorce highlights the many hardships of geriatric dating," to announce that the first Golden Bachelor, Gerry Turner, in his early 70's, is divorcing the contestant he dated and married on the show.
"Geriatric dating?????"
Other than as a medical term, can we all agree to not use that term to define two people who are dating or divorcing just because they are not 20?
We are so sick of this fake narrative about everyone being labeled and in particular, everyone over 40, 50, and 60, being labeled as old.
It is NOT true.
We have to stop referring to everything and everyone related to aging in a negative light.
Don't you agree?
In Part II of our interview with Drs. Emily and Mitchell Clionsky wecontinue our discussion on ways to prevent dementia.
They say 50% of all dementia is prevenatbel, an astounding number. and they give us advice from their book on real-life ways to defend ourselves against this awful disease.
They have a dementia prevention checklist on their website that you can access here: BRAINDOC Checklist Intro

One of the greatest fears people have about aging is the possibility that they will end up having dementia. How common is Dementia? Is it inevitable? Is there anything we can do to prevent it? In part one of this two-part discussion, our guests, Dr Emily Clionsky, MD and Dr Mitchell Clionsky, PHD will answer those questions and discuss their new book, Dementia Prevention: Using Your Head To Save Your Brain. This is Part II of our discussion with Author, George Jerjian. If you haven't listened to part I we encourage you to listen to episode 17 with George before listening to this one.
George was only 52 years old when he was given just 6 months to live. Fortunately, the diagnosis turned out to be wrong but so was the hellish semi-retirement he was propelled into as a result. Don't get us wrong. He had friends, family, money and an active social life, but it somehow wasn't enough. So, he "unretired" and embarked on a journey to discover his true purpose.
How did he do that, you ask? By going on a 30 day SILENT Retreat!!! Can you imagine???
His mission is to inspire and teach others to do the same using the tools he discovered on his own journey.
In this second episode with George, he talks about what motivated him to go on a silent retreat, what came out of that experience and how he knew something had to change in his life he was going to be happy as a retired person.
Learn more about George and his books at https://georgejerjian.com

We are back with the second half of our interview with former guest, Anne Kremidas. The first time she visited us she talked about being blindsided by her ex-husband, whom she refers to as her "wasband" as in he was her husband, who cheated on her. If you have not heard it we encourage you to go back and listen to it. Anne is a great storyteller. Last week while Anne was with us we discussed her dabbling in the online dating pool and all that has entailed. This week she offers us advice on avoiding and detecting online scammers who are not looking for love but rather, are looking for money. They are getting very clever at scamming so this is a must hear if you are considering online dating.

If you think that retirement is the only destination for when we get older, you need to hear Monique Clement's story.
When she was younger, Monique was one of Canada's top models. The lifespan of a model used to be very short. Hence, she retired at the age of 30. Times are changing though. As people live longer, they are demanding actors and models who look more like they do and not only like 20 year olds.
At the age of 70, after a 40 year hiatus, Monique restarted her modeling career.
How fantastic is that?! We say, "VERY!"

Katharine Esty writes:
"At age 80, I had a rude awakening when I could no longer hike to the top of my favorite mountain. I was also experiencing several small annoying changes in my body. I felt like I’d entered a foreign land. Since neither of my parents lived to 80, I had no idea what to expect. I was curious if the negative stereotypes of diminished health and lower vitality held true for today's eighty-somethings. I also wondered if people had lessons for me and others as we age.
All I knew was that I dreaded growing old—there just didn’t seem much to look forward to and lots to fear. I knew I was not alone with my dread.
**People in their eighties have not gotten much attention from the media. Baby Boomers and GenXers—the adult children of people my age— get lots of attention, but not the cohort of people over eighty, even though this crowd is growing faster than any other older group.
I couldn’t find a single self-help book written for people in their 80s. Or a user-friendly explanation for my four middle-aged sons on what life was really like for their aging parents and how to relate effectively to them."**
Bestselling author, Katharine, filled this void by researching this subject and interviewing many people in their 80's so you and she could have your most pressing concerns addressed in her new book. She is our guest and discusses approaching your 90's and how not bad it actually can be!!!

As we age, estrogen levels decline, potentially leading to vaginal changes and discomfort. It’s not uncommon for women to experience these changes during perimenopause, menopause and even after childbirth. Many women have tried hormone therapy and/or estrogen creams and have not found the results to be effective.
We were fortunate to have well known, New York City OBGYN, Dr. Inga Zilberstein discusses a vaginal rejuvenation procedure for women that improves vaginal health during or after menopause, with Jill and Ava. The procedure called, The Mona Lisa Touch® improves bladder health, stress incontinence, vaginal lubrication and orgasm. She also discusses the benefits of hormone treatment and other things that can happen during menopause.
