A conversation with Worimi and Biripi poet Nicole Smede, about her work with language as a means of reconnecting with her culture. She is the First Nations Senior Project Manager for Red Room Poetry and has been a key contributor to the Poetry in First Languages program since its inception in 2018, which is a program that delivers First Nations-led poetry workshops to support students to find strength in their cultural identities.

A conversation with young carver and artist at Jilamara Arts and Crafts Association, Walter Brooks. A conversation with early childhood educator, author and Biripi man Adam Duncan, who, along with illustrator Paul Lao, has just released The Bunyip and the Stars, a children’s picture book that is described as part Sky Country creation story, and part exciting adventure tale. In the second half of the show Krystal shares several yarns about sky knowledge, focusing particularly on the Earth’s moon and how it is viewed and used in different communities across the country.

In this week’s episode, we are joined by editor, writer and poet of South Sea Islander, Northern Cheyenne, Kabi Kabi and English heritage, Yasmin Smith, who is currently an editor at University of Queensland Press where her work includes overseeing their groundbreaking First Nations Classics series.
