Synopsis

“Rain, Rainbow” is about an unnamed young woman who battles wanting to go back to the past. The past was when she didn’t care about social media. The past was when she was creating art on a more consistent basis. The past was also when she was abused by her then-boyfriend.

The first indication of my anxiety coming back

is when I think “all my friends hate me”

It’s now early 2022

and I haven’t had that thought since late 2020

“All my friends must hate me”

I thought one night when I was getting ready for bed

Why isn’t my poetry flowing?

That was the question I asked myself

a few months ago when I was trying to write a poem

Because of school

I’ve mainly written short stories

and I haven’t had a lot of time to write any poems

I thought my poetry writing abilities and

everything I’ve learned in school so far just

poofed *

disappeared like a magician doing a disappearing act for little children

I had three breakdowns about that within one night

and that’s another sign my anxiety is coming back

For the past two months

I’ve been trying

I’ve been trying to be the person I was two years ago

who didn’t care about response time from someone on social media

and who genuinely wanted to be alone for most of the time

I’ve been trying to become a person who maybe I never was

Maybe that’s another sign my anxiety is coming back

but I don’t know

When I wake up with an overwhelmingly amount of sadness for no reason at all

then is when I know my depression is getting worse

The only reason why I don’t want my depression to go away

is because I don’t lose my beautiful creativity
